Facial nerve decompression<br />

Identify location <strong>of</strong> facial nerve injury, removed<br />

any bone chips.<br />

Examined for stretching, compression,<br />

laceration, or transection.<br />

Largely intact nerve→ decompression <strong>of</strong> the<br />

epineural sheath in proximal to distal.<br />

Partial transection→ repaired with suture.<br />

Separation >50% <strong>of</strong> the axons→ interpositional<br />

nerve graft (greater auricular nerve)<br />
