This Register has been created to include Millers who are linked to John Frederick Miller and/or 

his brother Harman, whose proper grouping has yet to be determined. DNA testing may be the 

reason for a Miller descendant being listed in this Register, instead of the Main Miller Family 

Register. In these instances, it usually a matter of having a missing link in the "paper trail" 

research, while at the same time, DNA testing has confirmed the individual belongs to these 

particular Millers. For example, John Miller's research has led him back to the Millers of Halifax 

County, Virginia, with evidence that he is related to either John Frederick Miller or his brother, 

Harman. John Miller's problem is, that he has a missing link in his line which would cement the 

connection together. He completed DNA testing and confirmed he is in fact related to these 

Miller brothers, but has not thus far, been able to determine, by standard research, which one. 

Therefore, until such a determination can be made as to which side the individual belongs, they 

will reside in this Register. When such a time comes, they will be transferred to the correct 

Register. Those using this Register should be cautious in assuming that the listing of a person 

herein, automatically conveys relationship to the bulk of Millers found in this research; or that all 

data entered is correct. There is a considerable amount of erroneous information floating around 

on the Internet, concerning the descendants of the Halifax County, Virginia Millers. While 

every effort is being made to ensure that this Register is as accurate as possible, some of that data 

may creep into the listing. For security purposes, entries in this Registry who are still living will 

have personally identifiable information, such as birth dates and dates of marriage, excluded by 

"xx", so as to protect their identity. An Asterisk * following the name of an individual indicates 

that while absolute proof of relationship has not been established, strong circumstantial evidence, 

birthdates, census data, naming patterns, or interaction with other known descendants, makes 

their kinship highly probable. Those who have data, or corrections for individuals found in this 

Register, are welcome to submit it to the compiler, using the contact address found on the Main 

Menu Page. This Register will be updated periodically, as new data becomes available. A

Absalom Miller - 

Parenatge unconfirmed, but has been proven by DNA testing on a descendant, to belong to the 

John Frederick/Harman Miller Group in Halifax County, Virginia. Born in 1775 in Virginia. 

Moved westward where he married Sarah Jane Armstead on 2 Aug., 1800 in Russellville, 

Logan Co., Kentucky. They were the parents of James, Mary Martha, Apselia, John, Jane,

Stephen, Briant and Elijah Miller. By 1830, Absalom and family had moved to Gallatin Co., 

Illinois where they remained until the county was split into Gallatin and Saline Counties. The 

1850 Census reveals that they were living in Saline County, Illinois. Absalom and son John were 

witnesses to the Will of Wilson Henderson on 12 Sept. 1847, in Saline County. Absalom died 

there in 1850 and is buried in Carrier Mills Cemetery 7, Carrier Mills, Saline County, Illinois 

{Find A Grave Memorial # 35610515}. Wife, Sarah Jane also died in 1850, and is buried near 

her husband {Find A Grave Memorial # 35610552}. 

Absalom (Absolem) Miller - 

Son of James A. and Elizabeth (Holmes) Miller. Born on 15 Apr. 1841 in Gallatin County, 

Illinois. Married to Mary Jane Abney on 15 Oct. 1863 in Saline Co, IL. They were the parents 

of Albert M. (Elbert), Vienna (Vianna) E., Willis, Noah, Julia K. and Arkwright Miller. Absalom 

died on 27 Sept. 1892 and is buried in South America Cemetery, Saline County, Illinois {Find A 

Grave Memorial # 44921140}.

Son of Elijah and Sarah Jane (Hill) Miller of Saline County, Illinois. Born about 1849 in Illinois. 

Married to Nancy J. Tolbert in Saline County, Illinois on 13 July 1873 (Book C/ 179). 

Agnes (Agness) Miller - 

Daughter of James B. and Martha J. 'Maggie' (?) Miller. Born about 1879 in Saline County, 

Illinois. 

Ada L. Miller - 

Daughter of Charles David and Elizabeth Frye (Miller) of Saline County, Illinois. Born on 20

This Albert, like Albert M., was born in 1866. He died in 1949. He was married to Vina (?)

Albert M. (Elbert) Miller - 

Son of Absalom and Mary Jane (Abney) Miller. of Saline County, Illinois. Born on 8 Apr., 1866 

in Saline County, Illinois. Was married to Lizzie E. Garrison {Find A Grave Memorial # 

93576037} on 11 Feb., 1886 in Saline County. No known children. Appeared in the 1900 Census 

with wife, Lizzie. Albert died in (?) and is buried in South America Cemetery, Saline County, 

Illinois {Find A Grave Memorial # 93574729}. 

Alfred James Miller - 

Son of James Willis and Rebecca (Harris) Miller of Saline County, Illinois. Born on 16 Apr., 

1876 in Saline County. Married to Dana Thorn on 13 Oct., 1897 in Saline County (Book A, p.

316) They were the parents of Beulah Elaine and Louie Cecil Miller. Alfred died on 31 Oct., 

1931 and is buried in Salem Cemetery, Carrier Mills, Saline County, Illinois {Find A Grave 

Memorial # 92663755}.. His obituary reads as follows: " From Merchant's Weekly Vol1 No. 45 

Nov 6, 1931: A.J. Miller, one of Carrier Mills leading citizens, was stricken at 1:30 Friday with 

paralysis while down town and was moved to his home and medical aid called but to no avail as 

he passed away about 3:00 o'clock. Mr. Miller was 55 years, 5 months and 16 days old and was 

preceeded by his wife just months ago. A.J. was familiary known (???) one of the towns leading 

citizens, being in the general merchandise business here for several years, but had turned his 

business over to his son L. C. Miller since his wife died. He was the father of Beulah Strickland 

of Harrisburg and L.C. Miller of this city and leaves his aged mother Rebecca Miller and one 

brother Edgar, who owns the hardware and undertaker business here, and three sisters, Mrs 

George Hutson, Mrs Cleave Shaw and Mrs John Turner.The funeral was held to a large crowd at 

the first Baptist Church Sunday at 2 o'clock, Rev Motsinger and Rev F. J. Weir of Eldorado 

officiating. Internment was at Salem. The pall bearers were A. Turner, H.C. Henderson, E. 

Williams, Festus Arnold, Virginia and Hubert Finney. Carrier Mills has losted one of their 

substantial citizens and (???) relatives and friends a real freind."

during the Civil Was as a Private; Co: H, 128th Illinois Infantry Regiment. He enlisted on 15

service - and that his arm was amputated below the elbow on account of said wound - and in the 

line of duty by an accidental shot from the gun or pistol of some unknown person..." Charles

Clinton S. Miller - 

Son of Dock and Mary Bryan (Perrin) Miller of Pawnee County, Oklahoma. Born on 5 May

Apr., 1936. They were the parents of Mike G. and Margo Miller (Brown). Clinton died on 1 Jan

"Clinton S. ""Windy'', age 69, died January 1, 1988 after an extended illness. Born May 5, 1918, 

in Blackburn, OK, moved to Stillwater where he attended high school and received his Masters 

degree while playing football at Oklahoma A & M from 1937-39. During WW II Windy was Lt. 

J.G. in the Navy. After the service he taught school and coached at Jackson Jr. H.S. and 

Northeast H.S. In 1952 he joined Buck's Sporting Goods and traveled Western Oklahoma, 

calling on schools, coaches and the athletic trade. In 1961 he opened Miller's Sporting Goods,

which was expanded to 5 stores in the 70's and was sold in 1981. Most recently Windy was again 

involved in the sporting goods business with his son, Mike G. Miller in Mike Miller Sports. 

Windy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marguerite DuPree Miller; son and daughter-in-law 

Mike G. and Susie Miller, grandchildren Lisa & Rick Parker and Lexi Miller; Daughter and 

son-in-law Margo and Mark Brown, grandchildren Windy and Bonnie Brown; Sister and 

brother-in-law, Flora Lee and Ralph Foster of Stillwater; Brother and sister-in-law Olen and 

Willette Miller of Buchanan Dam, Texas; and a large and loving family. Windy was a member 

and usher at May Ave Methodist Church for 35 years.

at St. Louis, Mo. He died Nov. 11, 1959. She married Ralph C. Hawkins on Feb. 20, 1970, at 

Hoisington. He died May 14, 1988. A Hoisington resident since 1945, coming from St. Louis 

and Gatewood, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of First United Methodist 

Church, United Methodist Women and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Hoisington. 

Survivors include two sons, Garrel Ray Brewer, Lucas, and Charles Lee Brewer, Hoisington; a
