Q: What are the benefits of using k.blonde 

Powder Lightener? 

A: k.blonde is Lakmé 

active compacted 

powder lightener that 

incorporates violet 

pigments to help 

neutralise any unwanted 

warm tones visible in 

natural hair. It contains wheat germ extract 

that respects the hair’s fibre during the 

lifting and lightening stages. A colourist can 

achieve up to 8 definite levels of lift and it can 

be utilised on and off scalp, free-hand as well 

as foiling or meché techniques. 

Q: What achieves the best neutralisation 

of unwanted warmth after lightening a

Tone for blondes? 

A: The best recipe for creating a soft pastel pink 

would be to work with our Mix Tones in Collage: 

¼ Tube of 0/00 with only ½ cm of 0/50 Red 

mix tone with either 1.9% Long Lasting 

Developing Emulsion or 10 Volume Hydrox 

Developer. A tip to remember when creating 

pink – the colour of pink that forms in your 

Lakmé shaker as you mix, is the colour 

outcome you will see over the blonde. If 

the pink in the shaker is not pink enough, 

continue to add more 0/50 mix tone into 

the formula until the desired shade of pink 

is visible. 

Q: I recently attended the Lakmé Breeze 

Workshop with Dani Blakeley and we 

have been using the pastel toners in the 

salon. Do you suggest any other overlay 

toners for blonde hair?

Cloud Nine walked the LFW runway with sass & bide in September, 

who showcased their LOVESHADY collection for Spring/Summer 2013. 

In her dual role as Cloud Nine Ambassador and 

Creative Director Hair, Renya Xydis created a 

textured, playful and relaxed ponytail to complement 

the collection in a romantic journey where masculinity

submission where they created a catwalk look

1. Prepare hair with the Cloud Nine revolution 

dry and section hair into pattern shown. Clip the 

top and side sections away and take an angled 

horizontal section at the nape of the neck to begin, 

as shown in the sectioning pattern. 

Set The Micro Wand to MEDIUM. 

4. Set the back of the hair and then move to the 

side sections and repeat process.

roots to the mid-lengths, leaving the ends out. Set for 

5 seconds or until heat moves through to the outside 

of the hair and gently release from Micro Wand. 

5. At the front of the hairline, wrap away from the face. 

Once the back and sides are set, set with a light hold 

working spray and continue to the crown section. 

6. Continue the same herringbone pattern on the 

top of the head until all hair is set, starting at the 

crown and working towards the front hairline.

pattern’. Repeat curling technique, wrap over or

with a volume powder for texture and shape. This 

creates a deconstructed curl with a modern, raw 

feel to the ends of the hair.

and gently release. Leave curls as they fall to cool.

rectangular section from the front hairline to the

The Look: 

Gabriele Trezzi used Moroccanoil products to create a look that was chic and feminine, to highlight the 

elegance of the clothes in perfect harmony with the spirit of the collection. The hair was gathered softly at 

the back in to a low ponytail with a slight touch of volume on top of the head and then tied at the nape of 

the neck in a very special slip knot. 

Step 1: Before beginning the styling process, apply 

a small amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light to 

achieve a soft base that is naturally healthy and shiny. 

Step 2: Next, apply Moroccanoil Curl Control 

Mousse, this is a fantastic product for creating 

base and structure. Dry the hair carefully with a 

hairdryer and Moroccanoil Ionic Ceramic Brush. 

Step 3: Once the hair is completely dry, spray the

Step 4: With the base now ready, begin to create 

the hairstyle first, make a deep parting on the left 

side and divide the hair into three sections. With a 

medium iron, curl the hair into intense waves. Then

Step 5: To create volume at the back of the head, 

back-comb the hair just above the nape with rapid 

yet light movements, fixing it all with Moroccanoil

rigid and precise at the front. Complete the look 

by gathering the hair into a low ponytail, soft yet 

structured, letting it fall backwards in soft waves. 

Step 6: Next, work at the front keeping the hair 

flat and smooth, pulling the longest curls of

lakmÉ spring/ summer 

collection workshop 

The Lakmé Breeze Collection showcased an array of soft, chalk like pastels 

influenced by nature’s Spring Summer colour palette. The four distinctive 

looks offered a variety within the Collection theme, taking the Spring 

Summer fashion trends and making them relevant for today’s hairdresser. 

Dani Blakeley along with the Lakmé National 

Technical Team, travelled around Australia sharing 

their inspiration and passion for Lakmé colour 

and showcasing the tips and tricks on how to 

recreate the looks from this innovative Collection. 

Dani Blakeley offered an exclusive tutorial to 

Lakmé stylists, guiding them through each of the 

four collective looks with onstage models and 

mannequin heads. 

Dani also offered a workshop around the country, 

where stylists were given the opportunity to 

recreate the Spring Summer looks on their very 

own mannequin head. Dani guided the stylist 

through the cut and colour and provided rare 

insight into the techniques and tools required to 

create these innovative looks.

enya xydis tours 

For cLoud nine 

Hot on the trail of her success at London Fashion Week for sass & bide, 

Cloud Nine Ambassador Renya Xydis shared her industry experience and 

secrets with like-minded professionals as part of a four city tour in October. 

Making her way around the country, Renya 

commenced the festivities in Brisbane, making 

her way through her home town of Sydney, then 

Melbourne, with the final show in Adelaide. Well 

attended by hairdressers of all calibres from 

apprentices right through to senior stylists, the 

VIP show was a tribute to Renya’s career as an 

editorial and celebrity stylist, showcasing looks 

from the runway and published works. 

Beginning her stellar career in the 1980s, Renya 

started out like any other aspirational hairdresser, 

completing her apprenticeship in Sydney and was 

privileged to work with Eugene Souleiman, Kerry 

Warn and Sam McKnight. A combination of talent, 

hard work and tenacity has formed the foundation 

for where Renya finds herself today. Her current 

credits include top fashion magazine editorial 

stylist, creative director and owner of Australia’s 

premier hairdressing salons; Valonz, Salon X and 

Renya Xydis City and a list of high profile celebrity 

clientele who request Renya by name. 

This is the amazing life and career that was shared 

on this tour; an intimate introduction to Renya 

Xydis, her passions and motivations and the 

person behind the reputation. Her warmth and 

sincerity shone through her presentations, making 

the night both a technical learning experience and 

a candid insight into our Cloud Nine Ambassador. 

Supporting Renya in her tour was Cloud Nine 

Creative Director Lauren McCowan, who opened 

each show with a range of versatile; fashion 

forward styles using Cloud Nine tools.

Blue Phoenix Hair Design owner Angeli Shaw prides

Christos and Natasha Kakoufas are the faces and 

hearts behind the Christos-On-King name. This 

dedicated husband and wife team have well over 

twenty years of experience within the hairdressing 

industry, forging their reputation in the leafy 

Adelaide eastern suburbs catering to all facets of 

women’s and men’s hairdressing. 

Previously located on busy Unley Road, the salon 

recently moved to adjacent King William Road; 

hence the name Christos-On-King. Having 

outgrown their premises in Unley, the move was 

a natural progression for the salon which is now 

located in the heart of a high end fashion precinct, 

interspersed with bustling cafés and lifestyle retail. 

‘Relocating our salon to the heart of King William

recycled and distressed wooden furniture, much 

of which was custom made for the salon under 

Christos’ keen creative eye. Points of interest 

include an expansive fish tank, unique planter 

wall and a relaxed and welcoming reception area 

where clients can feel at ease. 

Leading an innovative team of seven staff, Christos 

and Natasha believe in mentoring, guiding and 

encouraging younger staff to help them fulfil their 

potential and build rewarding careers. They are 

known in the industry for their attention to cut, 

colour and styling and Christos in particular, has 

taught as a cutting specialist and been involved 

with national platform events for several hair 

companies.
