oming as it does, at the winter solstice, Christmas has a very special place<br />
in the affections of those peoples who have elected to live in Scandinavian<br />
latitudes where the winters are lons and dark. The mid-winter celebrations<br />
of pagan times could readily be absorbed into Christian forms when the new faith<br />
finally made its entry into the northernmost enclave of Europe. After the months<br />
of increasing cold and darkness there was a pent-up need for an overflowing of<br />
warmth and light. How right, then, to celebrate the coming of the 'Light of the<br />
World', the birth of the infant Christ, with choirs and organs.<br />
Industrialization and with it the move to the towns came late to Sweden. Until<br />
quite recent times most Swedes lived in the country; a very small population<br />
scattered across a very large country. Parishes tended to cover vast areas and<br />
attending the Sunday service at the parish church often meant setting out on<br />
Saturday and staying the night in one of the huts built round the church for the<br />
purpose. When church-going was necessarily infrequent there was every reason<br />
for celebrating the major festivals in the liturgical year with due festivity. Even in<br />
country districts church music has been performed to a high standard and<br />
churches have vied with each other in building ever more magnificent organs. The<br />
first Sunday of Advent was and remains a particularly festive occasion in the life<br />
of the church in Sweden with the liturgy richly embellished with hymns and organ<br />
mustc.<br />
The programme recorded here commences with a number of the most popular<br />
Swedish hymns celebrating the impending incarnation when the Word was made<br />
flesh. That Sweden was very much a part of Germanic culture is evident. Many<br />
familiar German carols appear here in Swedish guise. Throughout the programme<br />
there is a profound sense ofjoy at the prospect ofthe coming ofthe infant savrour,<br />
who can enlighten even the murkiest Swedish winter.<br />
Organ music has had a particular significance in the Lutheran liturgy, notably<br />
in the development of the organ chorale based on a familiar hymn tune. The organ<br />
music included here was composed for the Christmas season and makes use of a<br />
number of familiar Christmas melodies. Though Max Reger's Weihnachten beglns<br />
solemnly, perhaps reflecting the anxiety of the world without Christ, it contains<br />
some strikingly beautiful music based on Vom Himmel hoch (From Heaven on<br />
High) which is countered witie Stille Nochl (Silent Night). Ernst Pepping also<br />

makes use of vom Himmel hoch in each of three chorales for small organ. Marcel<br />
Dunr6's Variations sur un Nodl (Variations on a Christmas Carol) provides a<br />
jubilant conclusion to this recording with a series of ten variations harking back to<br />
the ancient hymn Aue Maris Stella.<br />
A new Swedish 6lite choir ofthe highest grade was born yesterday evening.'This<br />
could be read in the newspapers on 10th November 1975. Some members of this<br />
original choir are still singing in the Malmii Chamber Choir today. Many,<br />
however, become members while studying in Malmd, Lund or Copenhagen and<br />
therefore leave the choir when their studies are completed. Half of the members<br />
have a higher music education. The ensemble works in professional manner.<br />
Several foimer members have followed up their'training' in Malmci Chamber<br />
Qhoir by becoming successful soloists or choir leaders.<br />
Hundreds ofconcerts, many radio recordings, a number oftelevision broadcasts<br />
and a large number of concert tours are proof of our work. The choir has travelled<br />
the length and breadth of Sweden several times; its neighbours Denmark, Norway<br />
and Finland have, ofcourse, been visited, and it has achieved success in Belgium,<br />
Germany, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, England and Israel'<br />
The choir's performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion every Good Friday has<br />
been a tradition for many years. The choir's repertoire is mixed and features both<br />
old and new music, often including first performances, profane and sacred music,<br />
with or without an orchestra. Musical interpretation is dependent on the text<br />
content. It is the choir's aim and characteristic to bring out, with the aid of the<br />
text, the drama in music. The Malm6 Chamber Choir appears on 2 other BIS<br />
records.<br />
Dan-Olof Stenlund was only thirty-six years old when he was made professor of<br />
choir-conducting at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. He had<br />
earlier founded the YMCA Chamber Choir and led choirs in the Engelbrekt church<br />
in Stockholm. For several years he was also leader of the Uppsala University<br />
Chamber Choir. He studied music at the Musical Academy in Stockholm,<br />
qualifying as a music teacher, organist, church choir leader and singing teacher as<br />
well as taking exams in solo singing and cello. He was also granted a scholarship<br />

to study conducting with Leonard Bernstein in New York and Sergiu Celibidache<br />
in Stockholm. In spite ofthese intensive studies he is always keen to point out the<br />
importance of early musical foundation laid by his father in the family home in<br />
SkellefteA, Sweden.<br />
In 1975 Dan-OIof Stenlund founded the Malmd Chamber Choir. He was soon<br />
also invited to take on the leadership of the Malm6 Symphony Orchestra Choir<br />
and the choir of the Coliege of Music in the same town. Dan-Olof Stenlund has<br />
acted as a visiting lecturer at various American universities. In Europe he leads<br />
seminars in choir conducting and singing, and for many years he has been one of<br />
the leading and also most popular conductors at the great international choir<br />
festival Europa Cantat. Dan-OIof Stenlund is an honorary member of 'Les Amis de<br />
Francis Poulenc'. In 1978 he became a member of the Swedish Royal Musical<br />
Academy and in 1987 he was created Knight of the Danish Dannebrogen Order.<br />
He appears on 5 other BIS records.<br />
Hans Fagius was born in Norrkciping in 1951. He was taught by the organists<br />
Nils Eriksson and Bengt Berg before studying at the Stockholm College of Music<br />
with Alf Linder, under whose guidance he obtained his soloist's diploma in 1974.<br />
He subsequently studied for a year in Paris with Maurice Durufl6. In recent vears,<br />
on the basis of private study, he has devoted himself increasingly to Baioque<br />
music, trying to approach the music on its own terms under the inspiration of<br />
scholarship in this field and the so-calied<br />
'Alte Spielweise'. On two occasions he<br />
has won prizes in international organ competitions and since the beginning of the<br />
1970s he has given numerous recitals throughout Europe, in the USA and in<br />
Australia. He has also made radio recordings in a number of countries. He has<br />
taught at the Stockholm and Gothenburg Colleges of Music and is now Professor<br />
at the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen. He appearl on 42 other BIS<br />
recoros.

det ett uppdiimt behov av ett flcide av varme och ljus. Hur riitt var det da inte att<br />
fira ankomsten av "vdrldens ljus", Kristusbarnets Itidelse, med kdrer och orglar.<br />
Industrialiseringen, och med den inflyttandet till stiiderna, kom sent till<br />
Sverige. Anda til1 nyare tid bodde de flesta svenskar pd iandet; en mycket liten<br />
befollining var utspridd civer ett mycket stort land. En fiirsamling kunde omfatta<br />
ett vidstrdckt omr6de, och att gA i siindagens h6gmessa i fdrsamiingskyrkan<br />
kunde ofta betyda att man fick ge sig ivAg pA ldrdagen och tjvernatta i nAgon av de<br />
bodar som byggts runt kyrkan fdr iindamAlet. Eftersom kyrkobesdkandet<br />
nddviindigtvis skedde sporadiskt, fanns det all anledning att fira kyrkoirets strirre<br />
fester med ti}lborlig festivitas. Ti]] och med i landsortsfrirsamlingarna var<br />
standarden p6 kyrkomusikaliska framftiranden h6g, och kyrkorna tiivlade med<br />
varandra om att bygga allt magnifikare orglar. Fdrsta advent var och Iiirblir en<br />
sarskilt hogtidlig begivenhet i svenskt kyrkoiiv, och dess liturgi iir rikt utsmyckad<br />
av psalmer och orgelmusik.<br />
Det hiir inspelade programmet bdrjar med ett antal av de populAraste svenska<br />
osalmerna till firandet av den forestAende inkarnationen, vid vilken ordet gjordes<br />
iitl t ott. Det iir tydiigt att Sverige i hcig grad var en del av den germanska<br />
kulturkretsen. MAnga velkanda tyska julsAnger uppenbarar sig hAr i svensk<br />
gestalt. Hela programmet fdrmedlar en djup glzidjekiinsla infijr Friilsarbarnets<br />
ankomst, som {tirmdr att lysa upp dven den ruggigaste svenska vinter.<br />
Orgelmusiken har alltid varit av siirskild vikt i den lutheranska liturgin,<br />
framfijr allt vid utvecklingen av den pA en vdlbekant psalmmelodi baserade<br />
orgelkoralen. Den h6r spelade orgelmusiken komponerades fdr jultiden med<br />
anviindande av ett antal kiinda julmelodier. Aven om Max Regerc Weihnachten<br />
bdrjar hogtidligt, kanske speglande viirldens Angest utan Kristus, innehAller den<br />
pAfallande vacker musik, som dr baserad pdVom Himmel hoch (.Av himlens hdjd),<br />
iom f6r kontrastera rnot Stille Nacft.t (Stilla natt). Aven Ernst Pepping anvdnder<br />
Vom Himmel hoch i var och en av de tre koralerna ftir liten orgel. Marcel Dupr6s
Variations sur un Nodl (Variationer ijver en julsAng) utgiir en jublande avslutning<br />
av denna inspelning, med en serie pe tio variationer, som gAr tillbaka pA den<br />
gamla hymnen Aue Maris SteIIa.<br />
Den 10 november 1975 kunde man i de svenska tidningarna ltisa, att en ny elitkiir<br />
hade ftitts, och en del av medlemmarna fr6n den g6ngen iir fortfarande aktiva i<br />
Malmii Kammarktir. De flesta {iirsciker emellertid att bli medlemmar under sin<br />
studietid i Malmd, Lund eller Kdpenhamn, varefter de Ater liimnar k6ren. Hiilften<br />
av medlemmarna har genomgett nagot slags musikutbildning, vilket ftirklarar<br />
ensemblens hriga professionella standard. En del fiire detta medlemmar har efter<br />
sin "utbildning" i Malmri Kammarkiir nett stora framg6ngar som sengsolister eller<br />
kordirigenter.<br />
Hundratals konserter, ett otal radioinspelningar, diverse TV-program och ett<br />
stort antal turn6er vittnar om hirt arbete. Sverige har genomkorsats i oiika<br />
riktningar, liksom grannliinderna Danmark, Norge och Finland. Man har aven<br />
n6tt stora framgAngar i Belgien, T)'skland, Schweiz, .jeckoslovakien, England och<br />
Israel.<br />
Bachs Matteuspassion framftirs traditionsenligt varje iAngfredag. Repertoaren<br />
iir synnerligen blandad och m6ngsidig. Man sjunger gamia och nya miistare, bland<br />
de sistn2imnda en rad uruppfriranden. Man ger sakrala och profana konserter,<br />
med eller utan orkester.<br />
Den musikaliska tolkningen arbetas fram med hjtilp av det textliga innehAllet.<br />
Ett kiinnemrirke fiir denna kdr iir, att den tydliggdr den musikaliska dramatiken<br />
med hjalp av texten. Koren har gjort ytterligare tvA BlS-skivor.<br />
Dan-Olof Stenlund var endast 36 Ar gammal, niir han blev erbjuden en<br />
professur i kdrdirigering vid Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium i<br />
K
kunde han komplettera sin dirigentutbildning hos Leonard Bernstein i New York<br />
och Sergiu Celibidache i Stockholm. Tlots detta iir han alltid angeliigen att<br />
framhiiva vikten av den grundutbildning som han fick hos fadern i skelleftea.<br />

einen besonderen pratz im Herzen jener vdlker, die auf den<br />
Y Y skandinavischen Breitengraden leben, wo die winter lang und finster<br />
sind. Die mittwinterlichen Feiern heidnischer Zeiten konnten leiJht christlich<br />
umgeformt werden, als die neue Religion schlieBlich Europas ndrdtichste Enklave<br />
erreichte. Nach den Monaten zunehmender Ketlte und Finsternis war ein<br />
Bedtirfnis nach einer Flut von wiirme und Licht aufgebaut worden. wie richtig<br />
war es dann doch, die Ankunft des,,Lichtes der Welt,,, die Geburt dei<br />
Christkindes, mit Chtiren und Orseln zu feiern.<br />
^ -DierndLrstrialisierung und die folgende Flucht in die stiidte kamen sptit nach<br />
schweden. Bis in die neueste Zeit lebten die meisten schweden am Lande; eine<br />
sehr kleine Bevblkerung war iiber ein sehr groBes Land verteilt. Die pfarrbezirke<br />
umfaBten hiiufig riesige Gebiete, und ein Besuch des sonntziglichen Gottesdienstes<br />
bedeutete haufig, da8 man am samstag abfahren mu8te und in einer der zu<br />
diesem Zweck um die Kirche ringsum errichteten Hiitten iibernachtete. Da die<br />
Kirchenbesuche somit notgedrungen unregelmziBig waren, gab es jeden Grund, die<br />
gr
der welt ohne christus - aber enthiilt eine auffallend schdne Musik, die auf vom<br />
Himmel hoch baut, im Kontrast zt stille Nacht. Ernst Pepping verwendet<br />
vom HimmeL hoch in seinen drei choriilen fiir kleine Orgel. Die<br />

fiii"r, jubelnden SchluB dieser Aufnahme, mit einer Serie von zehn<br />

,,Ein neuer schwedischer Elitechor in der Spitzenklasse wurde gestern abend<br />
geboren,, konnte man am 10. November 1975 in den schwedischen Zeitungen<br />
iesen. Einige der damaligen Mitglieder sind heute noch aktiv im heutigen Malmii<br />
KammerJhor. Die meiiten jedoch versuchen, wiihrend ihrer studentenzeit in<br />
Malmd, Lund oder Kopenhagen Mitglieder zu werden, und verlassen ihn dann<br />
wieder. Die Hiilfte - der Mitglieder haben in irgendeiner Form eine<br />
Musikerausbildung absolviert, deshalb hat das Ensemble einen hohen<br />
professionelten stan"ilard. verschiedene ehemalige Mitgliede-r haben.nach der<br />
,,s.ho1rr.rg,, im Malmd Kammerchor groBe Erfolge sowohl als Gesangsolisten wie<br />
auch als Chordirigenten erzielt.<br />
Hunderte von Konzerten, eine unzahl von Radioaufnahmen, verschiedene<br />
Fernsehprogramme und eine groBe Anzahl Tournees sind der Beweis harter<br />
Arbeit.'Scf,weden ist verschiedentlich durchquert worden, sowie die<br />
Nachbarliinder DAnemark, Norwegen und Finnland. Man hat auch groBe Erfolge<br />
erzielt in Belgien, Deutscirland, der Schweiz, der Tschechoslowakei, in England<br />
und Israel.<br />
Die Matthcius-Passion von Bach wird traditionsgemiiB jeden Karfreitag<br />
aufgeflihrt. Das Repertoire ist sehr gemischt und vielfiiltig. Man singb alte und<br />
.r"oifu M"irt"r, unter den letzten eine Reihe von Urauff1hrungen. Man gibt<br />
Kirchenkonzerte wie auch weltliche Konzerte, mit oder ohne orchester.<br />
Die musikalische Auffassung wird vom textlichen Inhalt her erarbeitet und<br />
gedeutet. Das Kennzeichen dieses chores ist, die Dramatik in der Musik mit Hilfe<br />
Ees Textes deutlich zu machen. Der Chor erscheint aufzwei weiteren BlS-Platten.<br />
Dan-olof stenlund war nur 36 Jahre alt, aIs ihm die Professur fiir<br />
chordirigenten am,,Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium" in Kopenhagen<br />

angeboten wurde. Davor hatte er in Stockholm den KFUMs Kammerchor<br />
gegriindet und intensive Chorarbert an der Engelbrektskirche geleistet. Nebenbei<br />
war er auch noch Dirigent des Uppsala Akademischen Kammerchores.<br />
An der Musikhochschule Stockholm hatte er nicht nur sern<br />
Musiklehrerexamen, sondern auch das groBe organistenexamen absolviert, erne<br />
Gesangslehrer-ausbildung abgeschlossen sowie die soiistenausbildung in sowohl<br />
Gesang als auch Cello absolviert. Durch ein Stipendium konnte er sein<br />
Dirigentenstudium bei Leonard Bernstein in New York und bei sergiu celibidache<br />
in Stockholm vervollstiindigen. Trotzdem ist er bestrebt, immer wieder die<br />
Bedeutung seiner Grundausbildung, die er beim vater in skelleftei erhielt,<br />
hervorzuheben.<br />
1975 griindete Dan-Oiof Stenlund den Kammerchor Malmd. Ihm wurde kurz<br />
darauf auch die Leitung des chores des Symphonieorchesters Malm6 sowie des<br />
Kammerchores der Musikhochschule Malmci angeboten. Dan-olof stenlund war<br />
als Gastdozent an verschiedenen amerikanischen Universitiiten tiitie. In Eurooa<br />
leitet er Seminare fiiLr chordirigenten und rchor-, sanger, und seit vlelen Jahren<br />
ist er einer der ftihrenden und beliebtesten Dirigenten beim gro8en<br />
internationalen chorfestival Europa cantat. Dan-olof stenlund ist Ehrenmitglied<br />
der ,,Amis de Francis Poulenc". 1978 wurde er ztm Mitstied der kel.<br />
Schwedischen Musikalischen Akademie und im Jahre l987 zum Ritter des<br />
diinischen Dannebrogen ordens ernannt. Er ist auf flinf weiteren BlS-platten zu<br />
hiiren.<br />
Hans Fagius wurde 795L zu Norrkdping geboren. Er studierte bei den<br />
Organisten Nils Eriksson und Bengt Berg, sowie bei Alf Linder an der<br />
stockholmer HfM, wo er 1974 das solistendiplom bekam. Danach studierte er ein<br />
Jahr bei Maurice Durufl6 in Paris. Spiiter widmete er, von der Forschung und der<br />
sogenannten alten spielweise inspiriert, der Barockmusik ein Sonderstudium. Bei<br />
internationalen Wettbewerben gewann er mehrmals Preise. Seit 1gZ0 gab er<br />
hdufig in ganz Europa, den Vereinigten Staaten und Australien Konzerte und<br />
machte auch in verschiedenen Liindern Rundfunkaufnahmen. Er unterrichtet<br />
Orgel an den Stockholmer und Gctteborger Musikhochschulen, ist Professor an der<br />
Kopenhagener Musikhochschule und erscheint auf 42 weiteren BlS-Platten.

chceurs et des orgues.<br />
Lindustrialisition et, avec elle, l'exode rural, arrivdrent tard en Sudde. Jusqu'ir<br />
assez r6cemment, Ia plupart des su6dois vivaient ir la campagrre; une popuiation<br />

paroissiale, bien des gens devaient partir de chez_eux Ie samedi et passer Ia nuit<br />
dur* orr" des huttes baties d cette fin autour de 1'6glise. Quand la pratique 6tait<br />
irr6gulidre par n6cessit6, il 6tait bien normal de c6l6brer en grande pompe les<br />
f6tei majeures de I'ann6e liturgique. M6me dans des districts campagnards, Ia<br />
musique d'6glise atteignit un niveau 6lev6 et les 6glises rivalisaient_entre elles d<br />
qui ferait batir I'orgue Ie plus magnifique. Lg premier dimanche de I'Avent 6tait et<br />
reste une occasion particulidrement festive dans ]a vie de I'Eglise de Sudde avec sa<br />
liturgie richement embetlie d'hymnes et de musique d'orgue.<br />

Il est 6vident que ia Sudde faisait partie de la culture allemande. Plusieurs nodls<br />
allemands apparaissent ici sous des traits su6dois. Le programme est imbu<br />
d,une joie "onno. profonde Dt la perspective de la venue du sauveur enfant qui peut<br />
6ciairer m6me I'hiver su6dois le plus sombre.<br />
La musique d,orgue a acquis une signification particuliare dans Ia liturgie<br />
luth6rienne, surtout dans le d6veloppement du choral pour orgue bas6 sur un air<br />
d,hymne connue. La musique pour orgue enregistr6e ici fut compos6e pour le<br />
temps de Nod] et emploie un certain nombre de m6lodies de Noel familibres. M6me<br />
siWeihnachten (No6l) de Max Reger commence solennellement, refl6tant peut-Ctre<br />
I'anxi6t6 du monde sans le christ, l'ceuvre pr6sente de la musique d'une beaut6<br />

frappante bas6e sur Vom Himmel hoch (Du haut du ciel) qui croise Stille Nacht<br />
(Sainte Nuit). Ernst Pepping se sert 6galement deVom Himmel hoch d,ans chacun<br />
des trois chorals pour petit orgue. Les Variations Sur un Nodl de Marcel Dupr6<br />
concluent cet enregistrement dans une joie d6bordante avec une s6rie de dix<br />
variations revenant sur I'ancienne hymne Aue Maris Stella.<br />
Dans les journaux du 10 novembre 1975, on pouvait lire: "Hier soir est n6 un<br />
nouveau cheur d'6lite su6dois." Quelques-uns des membres de ce premier cheur<br />
sont encore actifs dans le Cheur de Chambre de Malmii d'aujourd'hui.<br />
Plusieurs sont n6anmoins admis dans le chceur pendant leurs 6tudes d Malmti, d<br />
Lund ou d Copenhague et c'est pourquoi ils I'abandonnent aprds quelques ann6es.<br />
La moiti6 des membres ont une certaine formation musicale. L'ensemble a une<br />
orientation professionnelle. Certains ex-membres ont eu, aprbs "l'6ducation" dans<br />
le Chceur de Chambre de Malmij, de trds grands succbs comme solistes ou comme<br />
chefs de cheurs.<br />
Des centaines de concerts, une quantit6 d'enregistrements d la radio et<br />
quelques programmes d la t6l6vision sont les preuves du travail du cheur. On<br />
peut y ajouter un grand nombre de tourn6es. La Sudde a 6t6 travers6e plusieurs<br />
fois. Bien entendu, le chceur a visit6 les pays voisins, le Danemark, Ia Norvdge et<br />
la Finlande, et iI a remport6 des succds en Belgique, en Allemagne, en Suisse, en<br />
Tch6coslovaquie, en Angleterre et en Isradl.<br />
La repr6sentation, par le cheur, de la Passion selon saint Matthieu de Bach,<br />
chaque vendredi saint, est, depuis plusieurs ann6es, une tradition. Le r6pertoire<br />
est trds vari6. Le cheur chante des chansons anciennes et nouvelles et il ex6cute<br />
beaucoup de cr6ations d'euvres profanes et sacr6es, avec ou sans orchestre. De<br />
pouvoir exprimer Ie drame dans Ia musique avec l'aide du texte, c'est la sigrrature<br />
du cheur. Le Chceur de Chambre de Malmci a enregistr6 sur 2 autres disques BIS.<br />
Dan-Olof Stenlund avait seulement 36 ans quand iI prit en charge son<br />
professorat de cheur au Conservatoire Royal Danois de Ia Musique Dr Copenhague.<br />
Auparavant, il avait fond6, d Stockholm, le KFUM Kammarkcir (le cheur de<br />
chambre), et il a men6 une activit6 chorale intensive d l'6glise Engelbrekt.<br />
Pendant plusieurs ann6es il a aussi dirie6 le Cheur de Chambre de I'Universit6<br />

d'Uppsaia. Au Conservatoire de musique, il a pass6 les examens de professeur de<br />
Musique, d'organiste sup6rieur et de chantre, de p6dagogue de chant; il a aussr<br />
une formation soliste de chanteur et de violoncelliste. En outre, iI a poursuivi,<br />
grAce d une bourse, ses 6tudes avec Leonard Bernstein d New York et Sergiu<br />
Celibidache d Stockholm. Pourtant, Dan-OlofStenlund a toujours tenu d souligner<br />
f importance de l'6ducation 6l6mentaire qu'il a reque de son pdre, i la maison de<br />
Skellefte6.<br />
En 1975, Dan-Olof Stenlund a fond6 le Chceur de Chambre de Malmd. On lui a<br />
rapidement propos6 la direction du Chceur de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Malm6<br />
et du chceur de chambre de l'6cole sup6rieure de musique. Dan-Olof Stenlund a 6t6<br />
conf6rencier dans diff6rentes universit6s am6ricaines. Il dirige en Europe des<br />
s6minaires pour les chefs de chceurs et les chanteurs et, depuis plusieurs annees,<br />
il est un des chefs les plus populaires des grands festivals internationaux de<br />
chceurs, Europa Cantat.<br />
Dan-Olof Stenlund est membre d'honneur de "Les Amis de Francis Poulenc".<br />
En 1978, il devint membre de I'Acad6mie Royale de Musique en Sudde et, en 1987,<br />
il fut nomm6 Chevalier de I'ordre du Dannebrogen au Danemark. Il a enregistr6<br />
sur 5 autres disques BIS.<br />
Hans Fagius est n6 en 1951 d Norrkdping. Il a 6tudi6 avec les organistes Nils<br />
Eriksson et Bengt Berg et, au Conservatoire de Stockholm, avec AlfLinder; guid6<br />
par celui-ci, i1 passa son dipldme de soliste en 7974. Ensuite, iI 6tudia un an a<br />
Paris avec Maurice Durufl6. Ces dernibres ann6es, il a, par des 6tudes<br />
personnelles, d6velopp6 un int6r6t croissant pour la musique baroque et essay6 de<br />
s'en rapprocher en en respectant les propres exigences, inspir6 des recherches sur<br />
le sujet et du dit "Alte Spielweise" (ancienne m6thode de jeu). Il a d quelques<br />
reprises gagn6 des prix de concours internationaux d'orgue et mdne, depuis le<br />
d6but des ann6es 1970, des activit6s de concert assidues partout en Europe, aux<br />
Etats-Unis et en Australie. Il a aussi fait des enregistrements pour la radio de<br />
plusieurs pays. II a enseign6 aux conservatoires de Stockholm et de Gothembourg<br />
et est maintenant professeur d celui de Copenhague. Il figure sur 42 autres<br />
