DECLARATION OF RUSTY ROKITA
IN SUPPORT OF SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL’S
MOTION TO INTERVENE
I, Rusty Rokita, do upon personal knowledge declare as follows:
1. My name is Rusty Rokita and I am a resident of Hardin, Montana.
2. I have been a member of Safari Club International for about 24 years. I am a Life
Member of Safari Club International. I am also a member of the Montana
Chapter and have served in the past as a Montana Chapter Officer and Board
member.
3. I have hunted for approximately fifty-nine (59) years.
4. Outside of the Yellowstone area, I have hunted, among other animals, Brown and
Black bear, Bighorn and Dahl sheep, elk, Mule and Whitetail deer, Pronghorn
antelope, Mountain goat, moose, mountain lion, caribou, musk ox, African lion,
and elephant, and many species in other countries. I have hunted in Montana,
Wyoming, Colorado and Alaska, as well as in Africa, New Zealand, Canada
(Baffin Island), Slovakia, and Greenland.
5. Within Montana and the Yellowstone area, I have hunted extensively, including
mountain goat, elk, and moose. I have passed the bear identification test required
to get a black bear license in Montana.
6. In the past I have applied for Montana’s plains bison hunt on public lands, but
was not successful in receiving a tag. I plan to apply again this year and if I am
fortunate enough to draw a tag, would definitely hunt plains bison during the
upcoming season. I plan to hunt on public lands in the area north of Yellowstone
Park in Montana, where a free roaming herd resides.

7. I plan to continue to apply for a plains bison tag in Montana in future years and
will definitely hunt the species when I draw a tag.
8. I understand that a listing of the plains bison under the Federal Endangered
Species Act might affect my ability to hunt the species.
9. I provide this declaration in support of Safari Club International’s Motion to
Intervene in this case.
In accordance with 28 U.S.C. §1746, I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true
and correct.
