<strong>DPI</strong>/<strong>FUM</strong> Trials Purpose<br />
Purpose: Identify which <strong>DPI</strong> information airports can provide to<br />
ETFMS from an operational environment.<br />
Purpose: Airports to identify how <strong>FUM</strong>s can best be used<br />
Limited number of airports: EBBR, LEBL, LSZH, EDDM<br />

<strong>DPI</strong>/<strong>FUM</strong> Expected Benefits<br />
A way for airports’ integration into ATFCM process, contribution to common<br />
picture, support to network, facilitating understanding and decision making.<br />
Allow airports to have a better knowledge of the traffic into its destination and<br />
take it into account in its own processes.<br />
Allow CFMU to know airport constraints and take them into account in its own<br />
processes.<br />
Short messages that can rather easily be integrated into systems and<br />
understood by humans if required.<br />
Provide more accurate timing of traffic enabling automatic processes such as<br />
slot allocation to be more effective.<br />
Improve short term forecast of traffic situation.<br />
Enable Aircraft Operators to get a better view on their fleet before departure.<br />
Support the management of critical situations at airports and its impact on other<br />
actors.<br />
First step in data exchange with airports, Gate-To-Gate.<br />

1. Communication and Message Syntax<br />
Purpose: Initial and quick verification of message<br />
syntax and connections in order to save time during<br />
testing with live data.<br />
How: transmission of copies of several <strong>DPI</strong> message<br />
types via e-mail and via AFTN.<br />
How Long: one or several e-mails and a few<br />
messages via AFTN.<br />
Report: feedback is given by CFMU via e-mail.<br />

2. Evaluation of Live Data<br />
Purpose: Determine accuracy and consistency of<br />
Live Data and suitability for ATFCM purposes.<br />
How: transmission of <strong>DPI</strong>s for operational traffic to<br />
the ETFMS OPS evaluation (test) system.<br />
How Long: initially 1 hour, later 24hours to several<br />
days.<br />
Report: initial feedback is given by CFMU via e-mail.<br />
Later statistics reports will be produced and<br />
discussed with the airport concerned.<br />

3. ATFCM Impact Assessment<br />
Purpose: Determine the impact of the provided <strong>DPI</strong>s<br />
on the ATCFM process managed by ETFMS.<br />
How: transmission of <strong>DPI</strong>s for operational traffic to<br />
the ETFMS OPS evaluation (test) system.<br />
How Long: at least 24 hours without interruption.<br />
Report: Analysis and reports will be done via the<br />
ETFMS standard HMI (count graphs, oplog query,..).<br />

4. Evaluation with OPS Users<br />
Purpose: to offer OPS specialists of all parties<br />
involved to participate in <strong>DPI</strong> evaluations.<br />
How: transmission of <strong>DPI</strong>s for operational traffic to<br />
the ETFMS OPS evaluation (test) system. OPS<br />
specialists will be invited to participate to the <strong>DPI</strong><br />
evaluation in CFMU, using the ETFMS OPS eval<br />
system.<br />
How Long: one (working) day.<br />
Report: Analysis and reports will be done via the<br />
ETFMS standard HMI (count graphs, oplog query,..).<br />

5. Operational Trial<br />
Purpose: to verify the correct working of <strong>DPI</strong>/<strong>FUM</strong><br />
messages in a fully operational environment.<br />
How: transmission of <strong>DPI</strong>s for operational traffic to the<br />
ETFMS OPS system and <strong>FUM</strong>s to the airport OPS<br />
system.<br />
How Long: several hours on 2 different days.<br />
Report: Analysis and reports will be done via the<br />
ETFMS standard HMI (count graphs, oplog query,..)<br />
and via the airport <strong>CDM</strong> system.<br />
Note: This step may only take place after an ODSG decision.<br />

ZURICH<br />
Trial preparation meeting took place in January 2005.<br />
Participants: Unique airport (OPS & technical), SkyGuide (FMP,<br />
ODSG rep, TWR), delair, SWISS, CFMU (URB+OPS),<br />
EUROCONTROL airport <strong>CDM</strong> team.<br />
The <strong>CDM</strong> system’s software (darts) has been modified and the<br />
AFTN connection has been tested.<br />

Trial preparation meeting took place in February 2005.<br />
Participants: AENA airports (Barcelona, Madrid), AENA ANSP<br />
(FMP, ODSG rep), CFMU (URB, OPS), Eurocontrol Airport <strong>CDM</strong><br />
team.<br />
E-<strong>DPI</strong> and T-<strong>DPI</strong> message have been implemented.<br />
Transmission of <strong>DPI</strong>s to ETFMS test system started on<br />
25/10/2005.<br />

Trial preparation meeting took place in February 2005.<br />
Participants: BIAC, Belgocontrol, CFMU (URB, OPS),<br />
Eurocontrol Airport <strong>CDM</strong> team.<br />
<strong>DPI</strong> message have been implemented in AMS.<br />
First message transmission took place on 7/11/2005 and first<br />
feedback was provided to Belgocontrol.<br />

MUNICH<br />
Preliminary preparation meetings took place in Dec 2004 and<br />
February 2005.<br />
Participants: DFS (HQ, ODSG rep, TWR, TWR-MUC), FMG,<br />
CFMU (URB, OPS), Eurocontrol Airport <strong>CDM</strong> team.<br />
All <strong>DPI</strong> messages have been implemented.<br />
Test started on 8/11/2005 and first feedback has been provided<br />
to EDDM.<br />
