Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe
has an extensive R&D department
working in close co-operation with
both its counterpart in North America
and the corporate Avery Research
Center, continually striving to bring
innovations and improvements into
the market. An exciting and key
facilitator in this process is our recently
refurbished applications Laboratory.
Here, we have a collection of the
latest inkjet, laser and copier printers
in the market, from the major OEMs.
Working with Hewlett-Packard, Canon,
Epson, Lexmark, Brother and Kyocera
printers, we can fully evaluate each
new or existing product for its
performance across a wide set of
printers using a standard test protocol.
The standard test protocol contains a
number of print related tests, as well
as runnability tests on every printer.
Typical print quality tests are
resolution, feathering, toner
anchorage, print density, colour-tocolour
bleed, dry time, light fastness,
smear fastness, strike / show through,
cockle, blocking and water fastness.
Concerning runnability on printers, we
typically look for jamming, misfeeds,
multiple feeds, skewing, registration,
label lift, bent corners, wrinkles and
drum pollution.
Besides printer testing, specifi c testing
can be done on CD-ROMs and DVDs.
Here too, we have a standard test
protocol in which we test the
suitability of materials for CD-ROM
labelling, specifi cally concerning
data-loss.
