Paul De Vree (1909-1982) betreedt
het domein van de
avant-gardekunst op het moment
dat hij al een rijkgevulde carrière
als dichter en criticus achter de rug
heeft. Contacten met de schilder
Jef Verheyen en de dichter Henri
Chopin zorgen ervoor dat hij zich
vanaf het einde van de jaren 50
ontpopt tot een verwoed
voorvechter van de nieuwe
avant-garde in Vlaanderen. Van
dan af staat hij continu in contact
met zowat alle belangrijke
vertegenwoordigers van de
internationale concrete, visuele en
sonore poëzie.
