In this classic epic of the battle between the
sexes we meet Jill and John. Jill is the object
of desire, John falls in love with Jill. One day
John is on his way to see "the scientist", Jill's
husband. It's love at first sight, things start
to slide: otherwise inconspicious John starts
an affair with Jill. On his way to one of their
secret rendez-vous John has a bizarre car
crash. He survives but will be tranfsormed
for ever into The Snowman. ...

The publication shows thirty photographs,
which document situations and things the
artist has encountered in the cities of
Brussels, Genova, Marseille, Paris, Berlin,
Rotterdam and Liège, from March 2010 to
September 2011. The book is a response to
the question of how 'the other' (the
spectator) can overcome the singularity (the
subjective origins) of the photographs while
viewing them.

of paintings created by Karin Hanssen,
reappropriates the female Rückenfigur (back
figure) of the famous work Paternal
Admonition (1654) of Gerard ter Borch.
Almost identical replications of ter Borch's
paradigmatic image of a woman in a satin
dress circulated on the market already in the
17th century. Today, in the era of technical
reproduction and digital simulation, this
practice acquires new relevance.
