Quality materials:
In the non-Extreme series tents the
rainfly fabric is strong, lightweight ripstop
polyester: UV-resistant and meets
CPAI-84 flame retardant guidelines. Extra
strong PU coatings on the fabric‘s
underside offer long wearing waterproofness.
In the Extreme series the fly fabric is
a durable, lightweight, silicone coated
ripstop nylon with improved UV- and
tear-resistance. However, silicone coated
fabrics do not meet CPAI-84 fire retardant
guidelines. (See tent models for
specifics).
Single wall tents are made of fully waterproof,
but highly vapor permeable
VentAir fabric.
All Floors are made of durable taffeta
nylon with heavy PU coatings; have a
waterproof rating of 14+ PSI (10,000+
mm water column) and are either factory
seam taped or seamless to maxmize
strength.
Mosquito netting is of ultra fine, very
UV-resistant No-See-Um polyester that
keeps out the tiniest of bugs.

Rainflies with external pole sleeves are
easier to setup because poles encounter
less resistance. Internal pole sleeves
increase stability and offer less wind
resitance.
The perfect solution is found in the
Flat Pole Sleeves developed by Exped
that combine the advantages of both
sleeve designs.
Poles of state-of-the-art TH72M extruded,
seamless aircraft aluminum by
DAC. These are rigid but pliable enough
to yield in strong winds. DAC poles
snap back to position without breaking
and then damaging the fly. DAC poles
are less likely to burr if they snap together
during setup which can cause
the segments to fit improperly and lead
to breakage.
Reliable YKK zippers in the fly and
canopy are sewn smooth side out to
reduce exposure to dirt, which could
cause premature wear.
The zipper pulls are reflective, colour
coded and glow in the dark. They
are long enough for easy handling even
when wearing gloves.
Lighweight and sturdy aircraft aluminium
stakes are provided in two grades
for both hard packed and soft ground
condition.
Ample guylines include adjustable tensioners,
especially developed by Exped,
that secure around most fixed objects
without complicated knots. Key lines
are factory pre mounted and provided
with Exped‘s own Cord Stuffsacks (also
available separately).
Guylines, developed by Exped, are of
ultralight and static Dyneema with a
tear force of 300 lbs/140 kg. This prevents
the guylines from stretching or
dislodging pegs in high winds, which
otherwise leads to flapping of the fly
and structure and ultimately fracture of
the poles. The guylines have a Dyneema
core and polyester sheath. Dyneema
is 15x stronger than steel and 40%
stronger than Kevlar of the comparable
weight. A reflective thread has been
spun into the sheath for visibility in the
dark. Sheaths and cores can be separated
to increase usable length.
Quality workmanship:
Lap-felled seams (4 inter-wrapped
fabric layers) are single or double factory
taped. Stress points are reinforced
with extra-duty patches and are sewn
with crossover stitching to better distribute
forces over larger areas of fabric.
All stress points are bartacked.
Thread used throughout is ‘polyester
core, cotton wrap’ that expands when
wet to seal stitch holes.
> Warranty and service: Exped tents
carry a 5 year, limited warranty on defects
in workmanship and materials. At
its discretion, Exped will repair or replace
any part that fails due to manufacturing
defect. Failures due to normal
wear, negligence, accidents and
acts of nature can usually be repaired
for a nominal charge. Please see your

> And why not even lighter? Light
can mean less durable. The increasing
UV radiation requires a minimum in
fabric weight and strength to prevent
premature degradation of the product
when exposed to the sun.
