Dear Participants,
We are very much looking forward to welcoming all of you in Valmiera where the 7 th
Latvian National Selection Conference will be held. Thank you very much for having
enrolled and thus expressed your interest in this very special session. Hopefully, you
are already excited to get started and involved in this unique experience.

TRAVELLING TO
VALMIERA
Delegates are expected to
arrive in Valmiera on the
morning of 6 th August, until
12:30. The departures from
Valmiera to your
hometowns will be done
after the end of the session –
on the evening of 9 th
August. In case of necessity,
the organizers can arrange
you an extra night in
Valmiera, but unfortunately
that will have to be covered
form your own expense.
INSURANCE
It is vital that all participants have adequate travel insurance for the event. This may
be individual in nature or cater for your delegation group as a whole. Travel insurance
will ensure that the cost of losing luggage, accidents and medical expenses are
covered if needed.
PARTICIPATION FEE
Due to some changes fees will be specified as soon as possible. This fee includes
accommodation, all meals and necessary materials for committee work. We kindly

ABOUT VALMIERA
Valmiera is one of the oldest cities in Latvia. It is located at the distance of 107 km from the
capital Riga and it is the biggest city in Vidzeme, being only 50 km from the Estonian border.
The historical centre of the city and a part of the territory are located on the right bank of the
stunningly beautiful river Gauja, whereas the left bank of the river is less constructed – therefore
– more to be explored.
The organizers’ team is sure that the guest will feel very welcome in this city, because Valmiera
is the land of good people!
VENUES
Committee work will be held in
Valmieras State Gymnasium
(Valmieras Valsts ģimnāzija).
The school is located in an
ancient building with progressive
advancements. Around the school
you will find such things as
observatory, exhibition hall,
shooting-gallery, out-door estrade
and many other fun things!

The General Assembly will take place
in Vidzeme University College
(Vidzemes augstskola). This
University is only 12 years old and is
the largest University in Vidzeme,
therefore it offers creative, yet serious
atmosphere.
EVENTS

Eurovillage
As an essential and popular part of every EYP session,
there will be the Eurovillage. Every delegation will
present its native country and culture with lots of food,
drinks, flags, maps, costumes and national colours. This
most definitely is one of the most delicious evenings of
the session!
Euroconcert
Euroconcert is a chance for delegates to showcase their
musical (and not only musical!) talents. Polished,
professional, and most importantly – moving,
performances are welcome for this formal concert.
Participants must bring their own musical instruments.
Delegation presentations
To learn more about the place you come from and to get
to know the best of it on we will have another great event where each delegation will present
their place of origin! Prepare it well so that you can surprise the rest of the participants with the
greatest show! You can present the place you come from and yourselves by a song, dance, play
or anything else you might find appropriate.
Alcohol and behaviour policy
It is the responsibility of every participant of the session to observe and control his/her
behaviour. Delegations should remember their national legal requirements whilst on school
trips. As young ambassadors from you countries, we expect you to understand that we would not
wish your stay in Latvia to be ruined by your own misbehaviour or that of others. Latvian
National Conference shall be a non –alcoholic session! EYP operates a total zero tolerance
policy with drugs.
