enthusiastic reviews in
April with marvellous
staging, effects and
acting from a talented
student cast, supported
by the Faith School
Orchestra with an
entire score of new
musical numbers.
Congratulations to
Faith teaching staff
members involved
in the production,
particularly to Director,
Ben Schwarz, and
Musical Director, Dave
Garwood, for bringing the show to life. Spectacular
special effects included a hungry crocodile, eerie
mermaids, a ‘Lost Boys’ control room and a flying
Peter Pan.

The Australia Day
Council of South
Australia presented
the ‘2010 Citizen of
The Year’ Awards in
conjunction with the
Barossa Council on
Australia Day. Faith
proudly had three
students, volunteer staff member, Hannah Judd,
and Old Scholar, Adam Judd (2003), nominated in
the awards. Our picture shows Year 12 students
James Fox, Sophie Grieger and Lachlan Richter
being congratulated by Barossa Mayor, Brian
Hurn.
Tessa Grieger (Year 11) and Ben Plueckhahn (Year
12) took out prestigious public speaking titles at
the Lions Club ‘Youth of The Year’ Quest Regional
Finals. Tessa won ‘Best Overall’ and Ben won ‘Best
Public Speaker’.

Faith’s Year 10 German students were very
successful in the 2010 German Film Festival
competition. The theme for this year was ‘Greening
the Environment’. Their video was called Super
Hans, a visitor to Faith Lutheran school who would
help save the environment.
The students created the ideas, wrote the script,
brought the props, filmed it at school and edited
it themselves. They were very pleased to hear
it reached the final selection to be shown at
Arndale Cinema Complex in September. During the
afternoon, students watched the early and middle
year entries first, then the senior students were
last on the programme. It was a very nervous group
that heard the names of the 3rd then 2nd places but
then Super Hans was announced as the winner.
The students won a trophy, certificate and $400
which will be used for German resources. Their
video will also be screened at the National Festival
next year. A fantastic effort from these Year 10
students, with thanks to their teacher, Di DePalma.
Mark Lamborn (Year 12) went to Canberra in April to
participate in ‘Outward Bound’, a program inspiring
young Australains to build leadership skills.
Shane Rosenzweig (Year 11) was presented with
a Silver ‘Duke of Edinburgh Award’ at an official
ceremony in Adelaide.
In 2009 Faith launched
its first Pedal Prix
team, ‘Faith Racing
Development’, with
amazing success at
the 24 Hour Australian
International Pedal Prix
held at Murray Bridge. In
2010 a dedicated group
of Year 11 and 12 students will again compete,
thanks in part to community support gained through
sponsorship. We wish our team all the best for this
September event.
