WILDLIFE WATCHINg
Day trips from Stanley are easily arranged with a tour guide.
Visit penguin colonies and enjoy the wide variety of species
of fauna and flora. Accommodation providers usually offer
similar tours in other parts of the islands, can suggest the
best places for self-exploration and give information about
latest sightings. Wildlife experiences are guaranteed and
with only a few visitors in many locations, the up-closeand-personal
experience is second to none.
Fourteen species of marine mammals have been recorded
in Falkland waters. A trip out of Stanley to Berkeley Sound
affords the opportunity to try to spot some of these at sea
with spectacular blows often exhibited by various species of
baleen whale. Peale’s and Commerson’s dolphins regularly
accompany boats and trips can be arranged to include the
ocean surface as dusk falls. Boat trips are also available
