13 Hill Cove
The charming settlement of Hill Cove has plenty to
offer visitors including sea and freshwater fishing,
birdwatching, walking, beachcombing or simply
relaxing and enjoying the views across to Saunders
Island. Keen walkers can arrange to climb Mount
Adam or take a gentle stroll to visit the largest forest
in the islands.
14 Little Chartres
Located centrally on West Falkland, the small
settlement of Little Chartres is ideally situated for
exploration, yet is also a destination which offers a
very pleasant feeling of isolation. Along with nearby
Chartres it has beautiful views of the Chartres river,
one of the top fishing destinations in the islands. A
variety of flora and fauna can be seen on easy walks
in the surroundings.

15 Port Edgar
The settlement of Port Edgar is ideally situated for
varied walking opportunities along the shores or
clifftops affording excellent views across Falkland
Sound. Penguin colonies are nearby and whales
are often sighted.
16 Port Howard
Port Howard is an attractive sheep farming
settlement situated on the east coast. The ferry
from East Falkland arrives here. Easy to explore
on foot, strolls can be taken around the settlement
which is home to a small museum with relics of the
1982 Conflict. Hiking opportunities are excellent
with great views from the top of Mount Maria,
the Falklands third highest peak. A nine hole, par
three golf course overlooking the settlement and
harbour, is owned and occasionally maintained by
a local landowner and may be played by visitors on
request. Fishing enthusiasts will find Port Howard
an excellent destination to use as a base for sea
trout fishing on the Warrah and Chartres rivers.
