Bridge, the World’s most southerly suspension bridge<br />
is a short drive or pleasant half-day walk away.<br />
5 North Arm<br />
North Arm settlement is located <strong>in</strong> the south <strong>in</strong> the flat<br />
but attractive area of Lafonia. It is easily reached by<br />
road and provides a good base for further exploration<br />
of the area with great walk<strong>in</strong>g and photographic<br />
opportunities <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Bull Po<strong>in</strong>t, the most southerly<br />
po<strong>in</strong>t of ma<strong>in</strong>land East <strong>Falkland</strong>. This additional trip<br />
does require a 4WD vehicle; visitors will be rewarded<br />

with fantastic views of scenic coastl<strong>in</strong>e and<br />
some fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g features en route <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
<strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g rock formations of Fanny Cove Park and<br />
the wreck of the barque, the Craigielea. Wildlife<br />
is plentiful <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g pengu<strong>in</strong>s, waterfowl, wad<strong>in</strong>g<br />
birds and sea lions.<br />
6 Port San Carlos<br />
Port San Carlos is situated at the end of the north<br />
camp road and provides the perfect base for<br />
further exploration of the surround<strong>in</strong>g area, where<br />
you can discover beautiful white sand beaches and<br />
a wide range of wildlife. Different pengu<strong>in</strong> species,<br />
seals, sea lions, small birds, seabirds and birds<br />
of prey can be sighted, not to mention the huge<br />
diversity of flora that characterise the north coast<br />
of the <strong>Falkland</strong> <strong>Islands</strong>.<br />
7 San Carlos<br />
San Carlos was the site of the British land<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
1982; today the British cemetery overlooks Bomb<br />
Alley, the area <strong>in</strong> which a number of British ships<br />
were bombarded. A small museum houses relics<br />
from the conflict and other items of historical<br />
<strong>in</strong>terest. Ajax Bay, the area used as a field hospital<br />
<strong>in</strong> 1982, is situated nearby. There are good<br />
opportunities for hik<strong>in</strong>g, wildlife view<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
fish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the surround<strong>in</strong>g area.<br />
8 Walker Creek<br />
Located <strong>in</strong> the west of Lafonia, Walker Creek is<br />
a peaceful settlement and a great place to “get<br />
away from it all”. The area has many sheltered<br />
bays, <strong>in</strong>lets and beaches and is ideal for fish<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and easy walk<strong>in</strong>g across the flat pla<strong>in</strong>s.<br />
These dest<strong>in</strong>ations require specialist travel arrangements<br />
as described. Other locations can be reached on tours<br />
pre-arranged with farm owners or tour <strong>guide</strong>s. Further<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation is available <strong>in</strong> the list<strong>in</strong>gs, from the Jetty<br />
<strong>Visitor</strong> Centre and accommodation providers.<br />
9 Kidney Island<br />
Reached by a 30 m<strong>in</strong>ute boat journey from Stanley,<br />
visitors can arrange to be dropped off on the island<br />
