Bridge, the World’s most southerly suspension bridge
is a short drive or pleasant half-day walk away.
5 North Arm
North Arm settlement is located in the south in the flat
but attractive area of Lafonia. It is easily reached by
road and provides a good base for further exploration
of the area with great walking and photographic
opportunities including Bull Point, the most southerly
point of mainland East Falkland. This additional trip
does require a 4WD vehicle; visitors will be rewarded

with fantastic views of scenic coastline and
some fascinating features en route including the
interesting rock formations of Fanny Cove Park and
the wreck of the barque, the Craigielea. Wildlife
is plentiful including penguins, waterfowl, wading
birds and sea lions.
6 Port San Carlos
Port San Carlos is situated at the end of the north
camp road and provides the perfect base for
further exploration of the surrounding area, where
you can discover beautiful white sand beaches and
a wide range of wildlife. Different penguin species,
seals, sea lions, small birds, seabirds and birds
of prey can be sighted, not to mention the huge
diversity of flora that characterise the north coast
of the Falkland Islands.
7 San Carlos
San Carlos was the site of the British landing in
1982; today the British cemetery overlooks Bomb
Alley, the area in which a number of British ships
were bombarded. A small museum houses relics
from the conflict and other items of historical
interest. Ajax Bay, the area used as a field hospital
in 1982, is situated nearby. There are good
opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing and
fishing in the surrounding area.
8 Walker Creek
Located in the west of Lafonia, Walker Creek is
a peaceful settlement and a great place to “get
away from it all”. The area has many sheltered
bays, inlets and beaches and is ideal for fishing
and easy walking across the flat plains.
These destinations require specialist travel arrangements
as described. Other locations can be reached on tours
pre-arranged with farm owners or tour guides. Further

Visitor Centre and accommodation providers.
9 Kidney Island
Reached by a 30 minute boat journey from Stanley,
visitors can arrange to be dropped off on the island
