economic growth and maturity; the role<br />
played by the teacher takes centre-stage<br />
in the development of this vast cultural<br />
capital. The profession teachers has<br />
always been one that requires them to<br />
go beyond the call of duty as the<br />
to successfully conquer the world. In<br />
today's knowledge and informationrich<br />
age, the teacher is the vanguard of<br />
important aspects of holistic education,<br />
namely, value & moral education and<br />
skill-orientation, and can no longer be<br />
confined to the realms of domain<br />
related knowledge.<br />
With these tenets of quality teaching<br />
in mind, the Indian Institute of Teacher<br />
Education was founded in Gandhinagar<br />
by the government. The state of<br />
<strong>Gujarat</strong>, awake and alert to the needs of<br />
reforming education. In February 2009,<br />
the <strong>Gujarat</strong> Educational Innovations<br />
Act was passed by the <strong>Gujarat</strong><br />
Legislative Assembly; this Act<br />
underlines the necessity of a drastic<br />
change needed in the education system<br />
as a whole as it contributes to the<br />
development of an innovative concept<br />
of education for children, that takes its<br />
final form in the Children's University,<br />
in cognizance of which an Act was<br />
passed by the <strong>Gujarat</strong> Legislative<br />
