Rann Utsav
ome December, a cornucopia of colours, culture and heritage is let
loose in the Kutch District of Gujarat as it plays host to the Rann
CUtsav. A three to four day carnival organized across various locales
within Kutch, the Rann Utsav takes one around the natural grandiose while
introducing the visitor to the indigenous cultural and ethnical flavor of the
people. The semi parched Grasslands of the Banni is known to host the most
magnificent display of vernacular architecture as the exhibition platform for
the varied range of arts and crafts of the region, while an array of folk music
and dance performances organized in the shimmering moonlit landscape
provides the most enchanting experience. Colourful fairs held near the beach
or the banks of a lake inspire in one the spirit of festivity, fervour and
flamboyancy. The Rann Utsav this year will be held from December 9, 2011 to
January 8, 2012. For more information or bookings do log on to
