A new Jenbacher-powered plant in China
Jenbacher biogas engines are powering
China’s largest chicken-waste biogas-energy
plant. The plant, which began
operating in July, supports China’s
national economic and environmental
goals to increase local energy reliability
and improve air and water quality.
The Minhe Animal Husbandry facility’s
3 MW chicken-waste biogas power-generation
project features three of GE’s
The Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water has
just signed a turnkey contract with GE Energy and
Hyundai Heavy Industries totaling $2.65 billion for
a new 2,000 MW power plant in Sabiya.
“This will be the largest combined-cycle power
plant in Kuwait, an important step in our plans to
boost power capacity to meet continuing demand,”
says His Excellency Dr. Bader Shebib Al-Shuraiaan,
Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity and Water. “A reliable
supply of electricity is critical to avoid future
To meet China’s growing demand for GE’s
onsite power technologies, GE has expanded
the presence of Jenbacher gas
economic and social development of Kuwait. GE’s
technological capability and strong local service
support will help meet the need for responsible, efficient
energy in Kuwait.”
GE will supply the Sabiya plant with three combined-cycle
power blocks, including six Frame 9FA
gas turbines, equipped with the latest emissionreducing
technology, three steam turbines, nine
generators and a turbine- and plant-level control
and protection system. Hyundai
Heavy Industries of South Korea will
manage engineering, procurement
and construction.
“The Sabiya project demonstrates
our capability to deliver advanced
technology solutions and services to
