A word from our employees
Sharing enthusiasm.

Claudia Wyss
Team Leader IT, Berne
Charm and commitment
“A new challenge,” I thought to myself as
I applied for an internal training course
to become a programmer at Post Finance in
1995. Before that, I was an all-rounder at
a department store and worked in various
areas, including sales, building services,
on the main cash desk or assisting management.
After one year’s training in IT at Post Finance,
I was assigned to the Evaluation Applications
department where I have now been
working for 14 years, initially as a programmer,
and later as an Application Manager
and Team Leader. Now I mainly perform
management duties and look after my
development team full-time in the workflow
environment. My team comprises 26 internal
and external employees, from trainees
to senior developers. My job is to make sure
that my people can work well. I have no
problem as a woman managing e mployees

“As a team leader, I’m
constantly alert.”
in this traditionally masculine area. I developed
into the role of Team Leader. It may
not have been so easy if I were new to the
team.
Performance and passion
We don’t have fixed workstations, and
everyone in the team works at least one day
a week from home. The employees greatly
appreciate this flexibility with regard to teleworking,
even though it is a challenge
to keep the team together. It is important
to me that everyone attends the weekly
team day, and that they also get on well on
a personal level.
As a Team Leader, I’m constantly alert. You
have to use your intuition, as employees
don’t always come to me of their own
accord if they have problems. Sensitivity
is also important when dealing with our
customers, who are mainly in-house. These
are project managers and functional and
operational experts, as well as indirect users
of our applications. For me, good advice
means reading between the lines in order
to identify the person’s needs.
Encouragement and challenges
I want to pass on my enthusiasm for my
work, and encourage the members of
my team. Because the challenges our
employees face are constantly increasing.
Further training allows you to gain
confidence, establish a network and
broaden your horizons. I too have
continued with my training, most recently
as a Business Informatics S pecialist with
a Swiss certified diploma. I also think it‘s
great that PostFinance promotes women
in the workplace. I fully support my
employer’s philosophy. Unlike other large
companies, PostFinance employees are
not numbers, but people.
