As we move into the heart of the nominating
season, I thought I would share a little research on
our election history. CVC’s first full year was 1992
so next year will mark our 23 rd year and the club
has five officers. Never has an entire board been
swept out of office during this span and never has
the same board remained intact for a second year
either. It came close only in 2011 and 2012 when
four of the five members returned in the same slot.
But during the other 20 years we usually have had
two or three new faces come on board. Obviously
the fact some board members chose not to run for a
second term has certainly played a major part.
Following four treasurers in the first four years, that
particular office has been the most stable with eight
members serving two consecutive years, including
Mike Crafton 1996-97, Patrick Garrahan 1998-99,
Ed Hokokian 2000-01, Joe Renna 2002-03, Jill
Kroeker Rosen 2004-05, Terri Parks 2006-07,
Debbie Garrison 2008-09 and Judy Capuro 2011-
2012. Only Dave Case holding the office for a
single year in 2010 interrupted the string of twoyear
treasurers.
Six CVC members have served two year terms as
president including Keith Garrison 1996-97, John
Bird 1999-2000, Debbie Garrison 2004-05, Jim
Agar 2007-08, Charlotte Renna 2009-10 and Linda
Laningham in 2011-12. Six people also performed
two consecutive terms as secretary. The first to do
so was Linda Laningham 1997-98, followed by
Dorothy Gregerson 1999-2000, Pam Hansen 2002-
03, Lynne Agar 2006-07 and then Sheryl DeMello
did it twice serving in 2008-09 and again in 2011-
12. It should also be noted Terri Parks completed
Sheryl’s final year in 2012 and is also our secretary
now in 2013.
For whatever the reason, the turnover is heaviest in
the vice-presidential offices of activities and public
relations. Five people have been in charge of public
relations for two straight years starting with Richard
Mullin way back in 1994-95, then came Joyce
Kroeker during 1998-99, Tamanee Krazan in 2000-
01, Julie Sons in 2004-05 and Jan Pflepsen in 2011-
12. But it is our run coordinator or vice president of
activities that has seen just four people complete a
two year stint. The first was Mike Curtis in 1996-
97, then came Skip Severance in 1999-2000, Craig
Hansen held the job in 2002-03 and the last person
to do it was John Johnson in 2007-08.
Four of our CVC family holds the most time on the
board with five years each. Charlotte Renna was
the secretary in 1992 has been president four times
including 1994, 2003 and 2009-2010. Linda
Laningham was the secretary three times including
1997-98 and 2010 as well as president in 2011-12.
Keith Garrison was VP of activities in 1994, 2009
and 2012 and president in 1996-97 and Debbie
Garrison was treasurer three times in 1995, 2008
and 2009 and served as president in 2004 and 2005.
Statistics show that the longer someone has served
on the board, the more likely they stay in CVC.
Ten (10) out of fourteen (14) people with three or
more years on the board are still active. When it
comes to two years of service only eight (8) out of
eighteen (18) are still around, but out of a
staggering twenty-one (21) people that served one
year, just six (6) of those folks are still here. There
have been a total of 53 people that have served
during the lifetime of Central Valley Corvettes and
only 24 individuals are still on the CVC roster.
