The event, which was an hour long, rc;cognizes<br />

prevl(3us academic year. Dr. Madeleine;<br />
Fischer Green, interiin president of Mcjurit<br />
Vernon College, discussed the goals and ac-<br />
complistimcjnts of the ccjllege before; introduc:ing<br />
Mr. lirinklcy and presenting awards.<br />
Mr. Brinkley's speech was pc)lislK;d and<br />
l)rit;f. His anecdotes entertained tfie crowd<br />
and his description of the current wcjrld<br />
scene stimulated the students. Mr. Brinklcy<br />
said that Ihe worki is now an open market of<br />
opportunity, particularly<br />
for American<br />
woiTien with college degrees. The fall cjf<br />
c:ommunism and the rise of Democrac;y in<br />
many naiioits have created a demand for intc;rnational<br />
c;m()loyment that c^an be suppliec<br />
l)y college graduates.<br />
A dinner followed the ceremony in the<br />
Amc;s Dining Uall. Students, faculty, parents<br />
and guests attended.<br />
