Description:
It Happened 200 Years Ago
A Committee has been set up to organise a series of programmes commemorating the events
of the war of 1809, the last insurrection, the battle of Gyır and drawing from spring to
autumn of 2009. The cities of Gyır, Szombathely, Székesfehérvár, Keszthely, Komárom will
be involved and we are looking for partners from Bratislava, Graz, Vienna and Paris.
Our plans refer to a mobile exhibition with the centre of Gyır and we would like it to move
around the country and the partner cities. Two conferences will be held as parts of the
project, one of them is a conference on the history of military activities connected to the
Napoleon wars, the other will deal with the insurrection and the war in 1809. Following the
conferences, their publication volumes will be issued. We are going to publish six other
editions, launch and operate a webpage and involve the media.
The battlefield in Kismegyer is to be turned into an interactive open air museum. A new
tradition can be based with this project.
History contests will be organised over the country and in the partner cities, what is more,
we would like to set out interactive performances of the war events in the partner cities.
We expect partners to this project from the cities and countries concerned in the war of 1809.
