delicacies such as arctic raspberries, cloudberries and<br />

lövånger kyrkstad, Q18, history tells us that the<br />

church cottages served as overnight accommodation<br />

for farmers visiting the church. this was in fact already<br />

referred to on a map from 1642 and the oldest<br />

known cottage today dates back to 1746.<br />

museum anna nordlander, c4,<br />

venue with a focus on contemporary art and gender<br />

issues. using art as the basis, we want to question<br />

norms and reflect on issues concerning gender and<br />

www.drangsmark.se. nils schillmark was born in 1745<br />

in drängsmark and considered to be one of the foremost<br />

portrait painters of the gustavian era. the exhibition<br />

displays copies of some of schillmark’s work. the<br />

sawmill epoch is shown in another room. the kitchen<br />

is furnished in the style of a kitchen from the end of the<br />

skellefteakonsthall. skellefteå art gallery is located<br />

at nordanå and has a varied range of exhibitions,<br />

lectures, workshops and other events. skellefteå art<br />

gallery’s aim is to convey and examine the issues relating<br />

to the contemporary art scene locally, nationally<br />

skellefteå museum is situated at nordanå – a cultural<br />

area in central skellefteå. why not visit the old kågegården<br />

house in the grounds or join in with one of our<br />

genuine mill environment from the 1940s that encourages<br />

conversation and thoughts of days gone by.<br />

visitors are welcome to stroll around and take a look at<br />

the old machines which have been left in their original<br />

condition. the building has been carefully renovated<br />

in order to preserve the feel and atmosphere within its<br />

rooted here and the region has a living library operation.<br />

works by skellefteå artist sture meijer, and includes<br />

everything from oil paintings and gouaches to sculptures<br />

and graphic art. each year the collection is rehung<br />

The storytellers’ city. www.destinationskelleftea.se/<br />

berattandet. in 2010, skellefteå proclaimed itself the<br />

storytellers’ city. this was partly a direct and natural<br />

consequence of our literary heritage, from those<br />

raised in the countryside whose lives were shaped by<br />

the landscape. But it was also thanks to the region’s<br />

lengthy tradition of verbal storytelling. so if you want to<br />

step into sara Lidman’s hjortronland, wander through<br />

p o enquist’s childhood memories or experience the<br />

narratives delivered at the annual storytelling festival,<br />

you can do this in skellefteå – the storytellers’ city.<br />

vävstugan på nordanå, c4, skellefteå.<br />

cloth on one of the skellefteå vävstuge förening’s<br />

ten weaving looms, one of which is for children. a vävstugan<br />

staff member is available to give assistance.<br />

this summer, a few looms will be used for rosepath<br />
