excellent way of getting to know the town.
go from the town centre to the nordanå
cultural centre with its range of cultural
events such as exhibitions, a museum, an
old village shop and an activity area for
excursions and recreation.
a little like skellefteå central park, if you
will. you will have hardly left the nordanå
area before stepping into a bygone time
and one of the town’s most well-known
and well-preserved historical landmarks,
Bonnstan. dating back to the 17th century,
this is the name used by the people of
skellefteå for the church village. its 116
houses feature 392 well-preserved rooms
that capture the flavour of times gone by. if
you are really lucky, your visit will coincide
with the midsummer holiday or a market
weekend when the whole area is in bloom.
you will pass by the Landskyrkan church
and cultural riches of stiftsgården vicarage
before crossing the river over Lejonströmsbron,
the oldest wooden bridge in europe.
on the other side of the river, you follow
the promenade back to the centre and can
enjoy being close to nature and viewing the
town from a new perspective.
follow this route and you will come upon
the sights of skellefteå, discovering and
enjoying these golden nuggets that come
into view when you least expect it. if you are
getting around by car, you can venture into
the fringe areas and visit unique attractions
such as ostens hus (the house of the
cheese), rismyrliden and Bjuröklubb. at
all times, the fresh nature of the skellefteå
