“UNV volunteers are extremely
important not only for MOVCON, but
for the whole mission at large.
“UNV Volunteers
are, in most cases,
the”visit cards” of
the mission,
representing the
volunteer aspect of
the UN.
Jacques Heynen,
Deputy Chief MOVCON Section
Beside their daily work they are
representing the Volunteer aspect of
the UN through volunteer activities
in communities and places where
normally the mission would not go. I
am specifically referring to painting
schools or rehabilitating
orphanages. I think they are in most
cases the ‘visit cards’ of the mission”
adds Jacques.
“Working with MOVCON”, adds
Jacques, “means also having a
particular client orientation
competency: all UNV volunteers I
am working with are able to always
deal in a patient and positive
manner. It is also of a great
importance to smile at people, no
matter what the situation is... and
this is also MOVCON”.
For everyone who traveled at least
once, regardless of the departure
port, we all have noticed that
working hours for MOVCON
personnel are quite unique and
therefore the stress management is
absolutely a key factor to keep up
the morale of the team. “Not only we
smile during our work, but we also
try to find the time to laugh, at least
once a day”, Jacques says.
We all wish that MOVCON will be
able to keep on maintaining the
same level of availability,
courtesy and professionalism in
the future as well; While talking
to the MOVCON and getting their
opinion, a motto came to my mind
“assurance to fly with a smile”……
I am sure almost everyone in
MINUCAT will agree with me.
So far, this is third section we
covered in our newsletter, where
UNV volunteers are serving and
exhibiting that they were the best
choices…..all sections covered in
these newsletters voiced
professionalism and tremendous
flexibility skills of the volunteers
which provides us a great sense of
satisfaction and achievement. So
bravo to all volunteers in
Chad…….
