I am excited to be a part of the
MINURCAT Mission. I’m from
Nigeria and married with 3
awesome kids (a girl and 2 boys
-all under ages 18).
My background includes many
years (16) with United Nations
System in the Caribbean
and with other
intergovernmental
organizations. I’ve worked
on a wide variety of
international issues
including volunteerism,
child/human rights and
youth issues; the global fight
against HIV/AIDS; and most
recently on green
environment. I have also
supported UN resource
mobilization efforts and
coordinated international
seminars, conferences and
commemorative special
events.
Before joining MINURCAT I
worked as UNV Programme
Manager (2006-2009) for
the UNMIL. I was educated
at the Universities of
Calabar and Ibadan
(Nigeria) where I studied
Communication Arts and
graduated with a BA in
1986 and two Master degrees
(M.Sc and MPH.) as well as
other qualifications in 1992/93
respectively.
I am very passionate about
Welfare and recreation issues
as I like to be creative,

We would like to welcome Olufemi Olugbemi, the so long awaited welfare officer who has
served also for years as UNV programme Manager in Liberia and several other countries
across the world.

Therefore, my immediate
objective as your welfare officer
is to get the MINURCAT Welfare
and Recreation Committee ‘up
and running’.
Over the past week, I’ve

observed that
welfare is a collaborative effort
and since I believe strongly in
the principles of collective
action as “together we can all
make better decisions, I will be
visiting sectors to see how
things work and to promote a
more humane environment.
Those who know me say I live
life to its fullest but I like all
things (dancing, reading,
photography, boxing etc) in
moderation. Additionally, I’ve
special interest in green
environment and capacity
building education
programmes.
I am motivated by the
statement that you don’t
have to be the first or the
only one-you just have to be
the best that you can be.
I look forward to working
with you, exchanging ideas,
sharing knowledge and
best practices. I look
forward to meeting each
and every one of you as I
make my rounds to the
sectors/sections and units
