4/17 Collins Elementary third grade students are visiting the John Ball Park Zoo as part of the Science

4/19 Knapp Forest Elementary students in Mrs. Boersma’s fourth grade, class along with 26
students from their sister-school Lincoln School (860 Crahen) will work together on the
children’s garden. The students will plant flowers, clean the garden area, and work

4/19 Collins Elementary first grade students will visit the Children’s Museum to see “Izzy’s

4/19 Northern Trails and Northern Hills Middle Schools present “Band Spectacular.” 7:00 p.m.,

4/20 Northern Trails sixth grade students will celebrate Earth Day, by joining Mark Fitzpatrick,
Director of Ada Township Parks and Recreation, to assist in a clean up in and around Ada
Park. Along with collecting trash, students will also pull Garlic Mustard (which is an invasive

4/24 The Fine Arts Center is hosting an artist reception for the K-12 student exhibit, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The reception is followed by the “Recycled Fashion Show” featuring clothing designed and created

4/24 The Senior Learning Café presents: The Creative Art of Hurling Epithets. If you can remember
which TV character kept telling his wife to “stifle!” If you know what it means to be “hornswaggled,”
“hoodwinked,” or have ever been sold a “rinky-dink” product by a professional “swizzler,” then Dave

Wallace has a collection of very old and very new terms for self-expression. Lunch is at noon;
program at 12:45. Cost: $6 per person for lunch and program ($8 for non-residents); $2 for program

4/26-27 FHN presents FAME - The Musical from the hit motion picture, television series, and international
stage success; FAME is nothing short of a global phenomenon. Set during the last years of New
York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), FAME - The
Musical is bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a group of students as they commit to four
years of grueling artistic and academic work. Come join the members of the FHN musical theater
class as they bring this hit to the stage. Tickets are $5 for students, $7 for adults, and available at

5/1 Northern Trails 5/6 School is hosting an International Fair. Students are creating booths that
share information on the culture of their nation of origin. We hope to have close to 100

5/5 Ada Vista Elementary, Grades 2- 4 Dance Troupe will perform at the Annual L.A.U.P. (Latin

5/23 Forest Hills Senior Center along with Saint Mary’s Health Care present the Healthy Living
Lecture Series. Professionals from Saint Mary’s Health Care will present information on today’s
current health topics. Attendees will enjoy the audience-friendly format of 30-minute presentations
with 15 minutes for questions and answers. Health screenings, massages, and general
informational materials also will be available from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., at the Fine Arts Center.

5/24 Collins Elementary School will celebrate Global Learning Day. Students in each classroom
are researching all areas of their assigned countries; flags, environment, clothing,
holidays, currency, food, music, landmarks, and other interesting facts. They will display
their information in the gymnasium and students will use “passports” to visit each of the
