1983-85 awarded a certificate for serving as a volunteer for Mayor tom Bradley’s<br />
educational program for delivering and reading books<br />

1984 - Helped to coordinate the political campaign for the incorporation of the city of<br />
West Hollywood and campaigned to elect the first lesbian<br />
Mayor of a major city<br />
1985 - named “Woman of the Year” city of West Hollywood<br />
1986-1990 hosted/produced/directed a television show shot on location in West<br />
Hollywood called “Lifestyle Update” a weekly gay and lesbian entertainment show.<br />
she co-produced, wrote and directed over 100 thirty-minute episodes and 8 one<br />
hour specials. interviews with celebrities, athletes, entertainers, politicians, aiDs<br />
fundraisers and the top issues of the 80’s. Lifestyle Update aired in new York, new<br />
orleans, Winnipeg, nashville and many states across the country.<br />
1986 - city of Los angeles public Library commissioners outstanding service award<br />
1986-1990 assisted to create shows and fundraisers with aid for aids<br />
1988- certificate of commendation from the city of West Hollywood award for<br />
producing videos to promote the spay and neuter of unwanted animals<br />
1988- alliance for Gay & Lesbian artists in the entertainment industry award-1987<br />

the entertainment begins at 6:30 with<br />
Bella da Ball as host with a fabulous<br />
line up of local talent, singers, dancers<br />
and drag. contest begins at 8 pm and<br />
the winners will be announced at 10<br />

in prize money and must be present to<br />

Melinda was born and raised in Wallingford a small town in connecticut.<br />
immediately after graduating high school she joined the army where she was<br />
discharged in 1961 for being gay. this began her journey as an activist for<br />
women and gays. currently Melinda is a business woman and the president<br />
of the palm springs national organization for Women, she also is a board<br />
member of planned parenthood of the southwest, member special events, 1989- Gay and Lesbian press association-president’s citation for outstanding service<br />
palm springs Board of realtors which helps to raise money for five local<br />
charities, member MLK committee to help produce MLK day in palm springs, 1991- Valley Business alliance president’s award for promoting positive media<br />
images of the Gay and Lesbian communities<br />
Melinda is in the process of recreating her television series from the gay<br />
80’s. she helped to produce and host Lifestyle Update a show dedicated with 1993- certificate of commendation from the city of West Hollywood for<br />
news, entertainment and the lives of gays and lesbians. she has over 100 organizing a successful Halloween carnival<br />
thirty minute episodes and eight one hour documentaries.<br />
1991-1994 served as president of the board of Homestead Hospice & shelter,<br />
providing homes and services for men and women with aiDs.<br />
she worked with eileen Getty to establish a home for women (the Dallas House)<br />
coming out of prison who were HiV positive.<br />
1997 – 2001 worked for triangle productions in television and radio. Her popular<br />
“outfront with Melinda” radio show won acclaim for her speaking out about GLBt<br />
issues. Directed/wrote with a crew of 30 for special television shows at triangle.<br />
“i believe the most exciting aspect of this project is the tremendous changes<br />
