But he takes a practical approach to it
as well: “I never let it become so precious
that it would prevent me from
experimenting. I move towards it as another
element, otherwise I’d prevent creativity. I
can use it as a canvas for my designs. I like
to use imagery. I like to make a boom, something
shocking. Nothing is subtle; I don’t drop
hints. I want people to get what I’m doing.”

Mink provides the perfect example. “The dollar
signs were inlaid. It blew my mind that it
could be done that way and not have to print
it.”
Scott doesn’t need to look to other designers,
for him the story is in the fur. “The inspiration
for me is in the medium, it’s not as if
one person or persons inspire me,” he notes.
“Personally I’m more inspired by the story
I’m trying to tell.”
Scott approaches fur as any other material.
He loves its resiliency. It can be abused and
still responds. He humbly credits his fur enthusiasm
to Saga Furs. “I’m blessed and proud
to have the support of Saga Furs in my career
and so fortunate to be able to make iconic
works. Fur has an innate beauty. It’s classic,
it can maintain its integrity. Therefore, it’s a
staple in our lives, in our wardrobes.”
