Separate sealed proposals for (1)<br />
general construction, (2) heating, (3)<br />
plumbing, and (4) electrical work in<br />
connection with the construction of a<br />

received by the Mayor and Board of<br />
Trustees of the Village of Brewster,<br />
Putnam County, <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>, at the<br />
Village Office, 94 Main Street, Brewster,<br />
<strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>, at 10 a. m., Daylight Saving<br />
Time, on the 10th day of June, 1041,<br />
at which time they will be publicly<br />
opened and read. No bids will be received<br />
prior to said hour, and none<br />
thereafter.<br />
Information for bidders, form of<br />
proposal, plans and form of contract,<br />
including specifications may be examined<br />
at the office of the Village Board,<br />
94 Main Street, Brewster, <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>,<br />
and copies thereof may be obtained<br />
from the office of the Village Board<br />
or from Harold B. Truran, architect<br />
at 42 Center Street, Brewster, N. Y.,<br />
upon making a deposit of Ten Dollars<br />
($10.) for each set as aforesaid, which<br />
amount will be refunded to the bidder<br />
who duly submits a bid accompanied<br />
by a certified check as hereinafter<br />
provided and in accordance with the<br />
requirements contained in the plans<br />
and specifications and who applies for<br />
a refund within thirty (30) days after<br />
the date when the bids are opened<br />
and who returns the plans and specifications<br />
undamaged.<br />
The Board of Trustees of the Village<br />
of Brewster reserves the right to reject<br />
any or all bids, or to accept the one<br />
that in their Judgment will be for the<br />
best interest of the Village of Brewster.<br />
Attention of bidders is particularly<br />
called to the requirements as to conditions<br />
of employment to be observed<br />
and minimum wage rates to be paid<br />
under the contract.<br />
A certified check made payable to<br />
the order of the Village of Brewster.<br />
<strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>, in the amount of 10% of<br />
the bid, must be deposited by each<br />
bidder with his bid, as a guarantee<br />
that in case the contract is awarded<br />
to him, he will, within ten (10) days<br />
thereafter, execute such contract and<br />
furnish a satisfactory performance<br />
bond. On failure to do so, he shall<br />
forfeit* the deposit as liquidated<br />
damages, and acceptance of the bid<br />
will be contingent upon the fulfillment<br />
of this requirement by the bidder. The<br />
checks of the unsuccessful bidders will<br />
be returned immediately upon the<br />
award of the contract.<br />
The successful bidder will be required<br />
to furnish a performance bond<br />
as required by the contract, in approved<br />
form, and with sureties satisfactory<br />
to the Board of Trustees of<br />
the Village of Brewster, which bond<br />
shall be in the amount of the contract.<br />

NOTICE OF BOND SALE.<br />
Sealed proposals will be received and<br />
considered by the Board of Trustees<br />
of the Village of Brewster, <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong><br />
at the Village Office in said Village,<br />
at 10 o'clock A. M., Eastern Standard<br />
Time (llo'clock A. M., Daylight Saving<br />
Time) on the 10th day of June, <strong>1941</strong>,<br />
for the purchase at not less than par<br />
and accrued interest of<br />
$19,000 Fire House Bonds of said<br />
Village of Brewster, of the denomination<br />
of (1,000 each, dated May 1,<br />
<strong>1941</strong>, maturing $2,000 on May 1 in each<br />
of the years 1942 to 1950, both inclusive,<br />
and $1,000 on May 1, 1951,<br />
and bearing interest at a rate not exceeding<br />
six per centum per annum<br />
payable semi-annually November 1 and<br />
(May 1. Principal and interest payable<br />
at the First National Bank of Brewaters,<br />
N. Y., in Brewster, <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>,<br />
with <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> exchange. Bonds will<br />
be in coupon form and may be converted<br />
into fully registered bonds,<br />
and are general obligations of the<br />
Village payable from unlimited taxes.<br />
Each bid must be for all of said<br />
bonds and state a single rate of interest<br />
therefor. Unless all bids are<br />
rejected the award will be made to<br />
the bidder complying with the terms<br />
of sale and offering to purchase said<br />
bonds at the lowest rate of Interest,<br />
not exceeding the rate above specified,<br />
stated in a multiple of one-quarter or<br />
one-tenth of one per centum per annum,<br />
without reference to premium,<br />
provided however that if two or more<br />
bidders offer to purchase said bonds<br />
at the same lowest rate of Interest<br />
then such award will be made to the<br />
bidder offering the highest premium.<br />
The right is reserved to reject any or<br />
all bids. Each bid must be enclosed<br />
in a sealed envelope addressed to the<br />
undersigned Village Clerk and marked<br />
on the outside "Proposal for<br />
Bonds" and must be accompanied with<br />
a certified, or bank, or trust company<br />
check to the order of Village of Brewster<br />
for $380 as a good faith deposit<br />
to secure the Village against any loss<br />
resulting from the failure of the bidder<br />
to comply with the terms of his bid.<br />
No Interest will be allowed on the<br />
amount of the good faith deposit.<br />
Said bonds are issued for the purpose<br />
of paying the cost of construction<br />
of a village fixe house in said Village<br />
pursuant to the Village Law and<br />
General Municipal Law, as amended,<br />
said purpose having a period of probable<br />

Notice is hereby given that the tax<br />
roll and warrant for the Village of<br />
Brewster has been left with me for<br />
the collection of taxes levied thereto<br />
and I will be in my office, Room 5.<br />

taxes from June 1st to June 30 from<br />
nine o'clock in the morning until four<br />
o'clock in the afternoon, excepting<br />
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and<br />
that for said period of time taxes may<br />
be paid to me without additional<br />

remaining unpaid after June 30, five'<br />
