SCHOLARSHIP <strong>2012</strong><br />
Over 28,000 Manitobans are employed in the trucking industry throughout the province in careers<br />
such as: drivers, dockworkers, dispatchers, sales people, accountants, mechanics, office personnel<br />
and plenty others. They all contribute to a strong, efficient motor <strong>transportation</strong> industry that<br />
brings us the goods and services we all use on a daily basis.<br />
Post-secondary training and education is the keystone of our communities and of the trucking<br />
industry. The Winnipeg <strong>Transport</strong>ation Club Scholarship was established by the Winnipeg<br />
<strong>Transport</strong>ation Club in 2008, to promote professional growth within Manitoba’s truck <strong>transportation</strong><br />
industry.<br />
The Winnipeg <strong>Transport</strong>ation Club Scholarship is an award of $500 to assist in the costs of<br />
pursuing post-secondary training or education. If you are an employee/dependent of an employee<br />
of a member company of the Manitoba Trucking Association, you are eligible to apply for this<br />
Scholarship.<br />
The Scholarship will provide financial assistance for students pursuing post-secondary education or<br />
training, whether through university, college, apprenticeship, private vocational institute, distance<br />
learning or continuing education. Students may be starting a program or already enrolled in<br />
and planning on continuing a course of studies. The selection criteria are academic achievement,<br />
extra-curricular activities and community involvement.<br />
ELIGIBILITY<br />
Applicants must:<br />
reside in the Province of Manitoba<br />
be pursuing post-secondary training or education that is relevant to the <strong>transportation</strong><br />
industry<br />
be an employee or dependent of an employee of a member company of the Manitoba<br />
Trucking Association<br />
APPLICATION PROCEDURE<br />
Complete the application form in full and submit with evidence of<br />
academic performance. Please note: transcript must provide a mark<br />
rather than a letter grade. Deadline for delivery of the application<br />
to the MTA office is: Friday, July 13, <strong>2012</strong>. The Scholarship<br />
will be presented at MTA Scholarship Luncheon in August, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
