UPCOMING EVENTS continued CAREER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS June 4th: “Creating Marketplace Disruption” Business failures are at all time highs, and companies keep cutting back. Yet, we know you can’t save your way to prosperity. Adam Hartung explains how all companies, regardless of age, size or industry can grow in today’s environment. By understanding lifecycle progress and market shifts, everyone can recognize their obstacles to growth and implement a four step process to overcome them and drive better performance. Adam Hartung has been a three time successful entrepreneur, head of Business Development at PepsiCo and DuPont, an offi cer in an NYSE company, and strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, Coopers & Lybrand and Index/CSC. His research into business failure and growth began in the 1990s, and encompasses over 800 case studies. “Create Marketplace Disruption: How to Stay Ahead of the Competition” was published by Financial Times Press in late 2008. Adam’s MBA is from The Harvard Business School, with Distinction. Career Management breakfast workshops are open to all chapter members. JUNE 12 LUNCH WITH ANN ZIEGLER, SVP & CFO, CDW CORPORATION Join the FEI Membership Committee for a lunch with Ann Ziegler, Senior Vice President & CFO of CDW Corporation, on Friday, June 12, 11:30am at The Metropolitan Club, located in the Sears Tower, Chicago. Ann will speak on “Is the Grass Greener--Private vs. Public Company CFO.” Ann Ziegler currently serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Committee Member of CDW, a leading provider of technology products and services for business, government and education. Ziegler is responsible for fi nancial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, risk management and internal audit. Ann joined the company in 2008, bringing her extensive experience as a fi nancial executive to the management team at CDW. Prior to joining CDW she held a number of executive positions with Sara Lee where she served as Chief Financial Offi cer and Senior Vice President of administration for Sara Lee Food & Beverage. Ziegler earned a bachelors degree in Economics from the College of William and Mary and a law degree from University of Chicago Law School. Ann also serves on the Board of Directors of Unitrin, Inc., the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and the Harvard Women’s Leadership Board and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Finance Exchange and The Chicago Network. NEW MEMBER BREAKFAST On Friday, July 17 at 7:30am, the Chapter will host a new member breakfast at the Oak Brook Marriott, located at 1401 W. 22nd Street, in Oak Brook. The breakfast meeting is open to the entire Chicago Chapter membership as an opportunity to meet and network with the newest members of our Chapter as well as other members, offi cers and board members. Members are also encouraged to invite prospective members to attend. In addition to breakfast and networking, the Membership Committee is fi nalizing their plans for an interesting speaker and topic.
