Horse: A Darci Brahma - Belleva bay yearling colt purchased at the
2012 Karaka Premier sale in New Zealand by Mark Kavanagh for
Delbridge Racing clients. This colt is a well conformed yearling
that is already well developed physically but also has good scope
for further growth. He has a good shoulder and girth and will

develop into a very strong and powerful racehorse. He is
developed enough to be a potential early runner and we expect
him to be at his best over middle distances as he matures. He
has Group 1 winners on both sides of his bloodlines. His sire
Darci Brahma was an outstanding racehorse winning 5 Group 1
races at 2, 3 and 4 years. Darci Brahma is already proving
himself to be a successful sire with horses such as Darci Be
Good, Artistic, Super Easy, Rescue Mission and Delbridge
Racing’s own Pakari Toa. On his dam side he is closely related
to multiple Group 1 winner Cent Home and Group 2 and 3
winners Studebaker and Ballet Society. This colt has the who’s
who of bloodlines in his pedigree including Danehill, Saddler’s
Wells, Zabeel, Sir Tristram, Century, Northern Dancer and
Montjeu.

Darci Brahma was a headline horse from his first public
appearance. By Danehill, from a champion New Zealand family,
Darci Brahma was keenly sought among international buyers at
Karaka and purchased for $1.1 million for a successful racing
career and as a stallion prospect.
Darci Brahma was the complete package with a blue blooded
pedigree and a commanding looking type. On the racecourse a
class athlete, with two important sire essentials ‘an explosive
turn-of-foot and a burning desire to win!
A tough and precocious juvenile Darci Brahma had six starts at
two years. A natural talent, the colt made a winning debut. He
followed this win with a stakes win at Matamata, racing away by
3½ lengths in the listed Fairview Ford Slipper. The 2YO season
highlight was undoubtedly his Australian Group One success,

when a dominant winner of the $500,000 Gr.1 TJ Smith Classic
at Eagle Farm. This Australian form secured Darci Brahma’s
position as the Champion New Zealand 2YO of the season.
In displaying winning juvenile form at the highest level Darci
Brahma joins a select band of Danehill sire sons including:
Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur, Danzero and Danehill Dancer.
Speed and precociousness are obvious and essential ingredients
in the Danehill sire-son success and Darci Brahma had both.
At three Darci Brahma achieved his second Group One success
with an emphatic three-and-three quarter length win in the
$300,000 Gr.1 Christchurch Casino New Zealand 2000 at
Riccarton.
The colts blitzing acceleration that day was simply breathtaking.
Jockey Michael Walker in raptures as he returned to scale, "I did
nothing on him – just sat there, and he’s sprinted past
them effortlessly," Walker said.
Trainer Mark Walker was succinct in his praise of another brilliant
performance, "He is just a super horse that does everything you
ask of him."
With a perfect spring record at three years, winning the Gr.2
Hawkes Bay Guineas, Gr.2 Wellington Guineas and the Gr.1
2000 Guineas – Darci Brahma went on to add another group one
win in the Autumn, convincingly beating the older horses in the
Gr.1 Otaki-Maori WFA Stakes.
Walker then set his sights on Darci Brahma returning to tackle
the best company across the Tasman, with Darci Brahma again
measuring-up against the top Australian 3-y-old’s. This time

unning the classy Apache Cat to a close second in the
prestigious $710,000 Gr.1 VRC Australian Guineas.
Darci Brahma’s track performances at both two & three years
old, established the colt as an elite athlete, with an exciting stud
future.
At four years Darci Brahma again stepped up to racings top
arena. The result two further Group One victories making it Five
GROUP ONE’S in total…at 2, 3 & 4 years.
For many racegoers his Telegraph Handicap performance was a
defining moment in the colt’s brilliant career. It was an inspiring
demonstration of both his competitive spirit and that ever-present
and sensational turn-of-foot.
The ease in which Darci Brahma ran away from the country’s
fastest horses left a long lasting impression among racegoers.
To win the Telegraph in 1.07 and carrying a serious horse’s
handicap of 57kg…..trainer Mark Walker and jockey Opie
Bosson were ecstatic.
After performing at his brilliant best at two, three and four years,
and winning the Gr.1 Waikato Draught Sprint at his last start...
Darci Brahma retired at the top of his game!
Darci Brahma has already been a success at stud in only a few
seasons. With his oldest progeny just turned 3-y-olds he has
already sired stakes winners such as Darci be Good, Artistic,
Super Easy and good winners such as Micken, Rescue Mission,
Vincent Street, Chateauneuf Dupape and Pakari Toa. His
progeny are already highly sort after by the best trainers and
bloodstock agents.

Dam: The colts’ dam is by the champion European MONTJEU from
CENTURI who is by the top broodmare sire CENTAINE. The
dam is a half-sister to the multiple group winning, CENT HOME
(2 x Group 1 and 3 x Group 2 wins), BALLET SOCIETY (2 x
Group 2 and 2 x Group 3 wins) and STUDEBAKER (winner at
Group 2 level) with wins from distances of 1200 to 2050 metres
in both Australia and New Zealand.
Syndicator: In only eight years Delbridge Racing is the syndicator of 26
individual winners, with a winners to horses to race strike-rate of
70%. During the 09/10 racing season Delbridge Racing horses
had a 25% winning strike-rate and the winning strike-rate this
current season 17%. Over 37% of our winning horses win in city
class races.
The first crop of horses purchased for syndication resulted in a
100% winning strike rate with DRIZZLE, LONGSTREET and
COMIC ECHO winning 21 races between them for Delbridge
Racing with the first horse syndicated by Delbridge Racing,
DRIZZLE, and winning two Magic Millions Stayer’s Cup.
Delbridge Racing’s first yearling purchased with Mark Kavanagh
resulted in the star performer and Group 3 winner SHAMOLINE
WARRIOR who from only 7 starts has won 3 races and nearly
$200k in prizemoney and at the end of his career he was sold as
a stallion.

Other winners include City winners GEORGIA'S BOY and
DRIZZLE multiple city winner TRANSLATION, GINSPIEL,

FIDDES, winner of the time honored Snake Gully Cup.
Recent winners include the highly promising PAKARI TOA (also

numerous stakes winners at al levels.
Mark also selected and trained the Group 3 winner SHAMOLINE
WARRIOR and rising star PAKARI TOA, also by Darci Brahma,
for Delbridge Racing. He has a 67% winner to horses to race
strike-rate for Delbridge Racing.
The Kavanagh/Delbridge Racing combination has a 40% winning
strike-rate this racing season.

Selection: Mark Kavanagh and his team of experts selected this colt for
Delbridge Racing from the 2012 Karaka Premier sale in New
Zealand which is one of the leading sales in New Zealand and
where many of the Group race winners in Australia are
purchased. Mark Kavanagh commented that the Darci Brahma
colt “has great pedigree and is a really nice type. He has similar
bloodlines to Pakari Toa who I also selected for Delbridge
Racing clients. He will be a bigger horse than Pakari Toa who
has shown a lot of potential and I will be hoping he has similar
ability. In my opinion he is the best Darci Brahma at this sale and
his pedigree page is full of black type winners. He is well
developed enough to be an early type but he will get better as he
gets older and will be suited over middle distances as he
matures. Delbridge Racing clients can inspect him at my property
at Gisborne, Victoria. They will like what you see.”
Mark was pleased to be able to secure this colt for Delbridge
Racing as he thought he would be above our price range. We
have a very nice yearling and good value for money.
Future: This colt has been selected with city and group races in mind.
Delbridge Racing syndicated horses are well bred and well
conformed horses and we seek to buy yearlings that represent
value for money. This yearling has been selected as a potential
2-y-old runner but he will be at his prime from his 3-y-old season
and beyond over distances from 1600 and above. We give our
horses’ time to mature and develop and our horses usually race
as late 2-y-olds or early 3-y-olds as we do not push them before
they are ready thus ensuring they reach their maximum potential
and have a long and successful racing career.

Ownership: There are 5% and 10% shares available in this colt. All 10%
share owners will be able to have their names in the racebook.
The purchase price for a 5% share will be $6,374 including GST
and a 10% share will be $12,748 including GST. The purchase
price includes all purchase costs and all transport, training,
agistment, buying, syndication and establishment costs until 31
March 2012. It also includes insurance until 14 January 2013.
The monthly training fee will be $385 per 10% share when in
work and $176 per 10% share when spelling, which includes
GST and will commence from 1 April 2012. The monthly base
training fee is a fixed fee covering all costs including agistment,
pre-training, race training, normal veterinary and farrier costs,
transport and grass gallops.
The only extra’s charged are for race day and trial expenses,
non-routine veterinary work, feature race entry fees and costs to
race interstate which would normally only be incurred due to a
horse racing well and winning prizemoney.
