mussels cooked in leeks and winter beer, or braised lamb chops with a butternut squash puree and herb

730 FCS Teacher-Led Book Group discussion
Upper School English teachers Liza Ewen and Bill Kennedy will join you and your book group for a
lively discussion of literature. Following the English Department’s preference to read works that speak to
each other, Liza & Bill suggest the following pairings, although any of the books could be discussed alone:
(1) “Netherland” and “The Great Gatsby,” (2) “Oryx and Crake” and “Frankenstein,” (3) “Winesburg,
Ohio” and “Between the Assassinations,” (4) “The Hours” and “Mrs. Dalloway,” (5) “Black Dog of Fate”
and “Everything Is Illuminated,” (6) “Case Histories” and “Motherless Brooklyn.” Liza & Bill would also
be happy to consult with you about book selection and/or starting your own group.

732 Sexuality Salon
Invite your friends or family (up to 12 people total) to an evening of dessert and sexuality education,
provided by Upper School teacher Al Vernacchio. Al will lead the group through your choice of topics.
Pick from a long list of lessons that Al teaches to students in his Sexuality and Society course. Includes
activities, resource articles for further study, and the famous “question box.” All lessons can be adapted to
the age and developmental stage of those present, so this can be an event for the whole family.
