Who should apply?<br />

<strong>B²</strong> is open to all incoming UW Freshmen who<br />

are interested in pursuing a business major and<br />

an interest in getting a head start on their<br />

freshman year at the UW.<br />

What do we look for?<br />

Students are selected based on their stated<br />

interest in exploring business as a major, high<br />

school academic record, resume and essay.<br />

The ideal <strong>B²</strong> applicant will have a strong<br />

academic record and demonstrated leadership<br />

activities in their school and/or community.<br />

What are the program<br />

requirements?<br />

<strong>B²</strong> students are required to enroll in a 5 credit<br />

academic course taught in conjunction with the<br />

UW Early Fall Start Program. <strong>B²</strong> students also<br />

agree to participate in daily sessions focused<br />

on exploration <strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> business topics as<br />

well as college transition and pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

development workshops.<br />

What are the program costs?<br />

<strong>B²</strong> program costs are covered by the <strong>Foster</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong>, including participation in<br />

the <strong>B²</strong> EFS class (not including housing).<br />

Participants also have the option to live in a<br />

UW EFS Residence Hall. EFS room and board<br />

charges are approximately $1,385 and will be<br />

applied to your Autumn Quarter Tuition bill. It<br />

is possible to have your Autumn Quarter<br />

Financial Aid cover some or all <strong>of</strong> the housing<br />

costs.<br />

Do you provide housing scholarships?<br />

In 2012, we provided 17 housing scholarships. In<br />

order to receive full consideration for a <strong>B²</strong> Housing<br />

Scholarship please complete the Scholarship<br />

Application by the application deadline.<br />

Do you have to live on campus?<br />

<strong>B²</strong> students are not required to live on campus<br />

during the program. However it is highly<br />

encouraged. Housing is available for all EFS<br />

students in a Residence Hall on the UW Seattle<br />

Campus. On-campus Room & Board fees for<br />

Summer 2013 are $1,385. Additional information<br />

What are the benefits?<br />

Get ahead <strong>of</strong> the game. Early Fall Start (EFS)<br />

allows you to take a lighter load during autumn<br />

quarter. The 5 credits you earn during EFS count<br />

toward autumn quarter, which means you only<br />

have to enroll in 10 credits to be considered a fulltime<br />

student.<br />

Connections are key. <strong>B²</strong> students will have<br />

direct connections with faculty and staff within the<br />

<strong>Foster</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong> before the academic year<br />

begins.<br />

for you to learn about business as a major as well<br />

as network with pr<strong>of</strong>essionals from Fortune 500<br />

<strong>Business</strong> Bridge (<strong>B²</strong>) August 26—September 19<br />

<strong>B²</strong> is a four-week academic/residential immersion program hosted by<br />

<strong>Foster</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong> Undergraduate Diversity Services. <strong>B²</strong> will<br />

take place in conjunction with the UW’s Early Fall Start (EFS) program, during<br />

which students will register for a 5 credit college level course. Offering a broad<br />

overview <strong>of</strong> core business topics, the <strong>B²</strong> program integrates leadership and<br />

strategy skills throughout the curriculum. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional development, career<br />

exploration and leadership activities focused on tools and resources that<br />

students can use to become more effective students. Facilitators present<br />

information in their areas <strong>of</strong> expertise and then engage the class in thoughtprovoking<br />

discussions where participants are encouraged to share their<br />

experiences and learn from one another. In the summer <strong>of</strong> 2013, approximately<br />

twenty-five students will participate.<br />
