improvements in patient care and the many lives that would be saved.<br />
With very few commercial automatic hand sanitisers on the market<br />
at present, the project also offers a big commercial opportunity<br />
<strong>for</strong> the partners. The partners hope to commercialise their product<br />
by means of a licence agreement with international distributors.<br />
The potential annual global market <strong>for</strong> the Cleanhand system is estimated<br />
at €310 million per year. That figure is based on assuming<br />
a modest market penetration of only 3%. Clearly, there is potential<br />
<strong>for</strong> a significantly higher market capture, especially if the product<br />
can also penetrate non-medical sectors, such as the hotel, catering<br />
and airline industries.<br />
