Teacher Assistants, Activity Specialists, Sports & Physical Fitness
Specialists, and Administrative Assistants
The mission of the Glassboro Child Development Center (GCDC) is to provide
programs and special enrichment for children and youth that help empower and
assist parents with the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of
their children. We currently have several available volunteer opportunities that
support the agency’s mission and help enrich the lives of our community’s children.
If you have a passion for children we would love to have you! Volunteer positions
include teacher assistants, activity specialists, sports & physical fitness
specialists, and administrative assistants.
Volunteering as a teacher’s assistant provides several opportunities to explore
early childhood development in action. Teacher assistants provide support to
classroom staff by assisting with daily activities, including engaging children in
the classroom and with outdoor activities. Or maybe you have a special skill or
talent that you would love to share with children? Coordinate with staff as an activity
specialist to provide classroom instruction and experiences in various areas.
This can include song & dance, arts & crafts, story-telling, karate, science, etc.

Sports & Physical Fitness Specialists (SPFs) bring the fundamentals of the four
major sports (baseball, hockey, basketball, and football) to the agency’s children.
SPFs help children learn the essentials of each sport while also encouraging the
basics of physical fitness! If you are a physical education major and would like to
employ your education in real time, this is the volunteer position for you! Maybe
you prefer the office setting, volunteer as an administrative assistant and support
staff in general administrative tasks, including assistance with fundraising activities.

Please note volunteers working with children are required to pass a background
check and submit to fingerprinting prior to service provision.
