Christian Awakening Senior Retreat XX
January 13-16, 2012
Retreat Team Application
If you checked “Giving a Talk” above, please take the time to fill out the section below. If not, please
continue to the next section.
Please review the talks below and consider which two talks you feel most called to give at the retreat.
Selecting these does not necessarily mean you will be asked to present a talk on the retreat, but instead
will help the retreat director determine whom will present each topic to the seniors. Mark a “1” for your
first choice and a “2” for your second choice. If you have no preference, check the last option.
___Why are you here?- The main purpose of this talk is to help clarify in the seniors’ minds as to what
a retreat is all about and to give them some tips on how to get the most out of the weekend.
___Know Yourself- The purpose of this talk is to help the seniors start thinking about themselves, to
take an overview of their lives, to see themselves as others see them and to see themselves in the proper
perspective. You will share some of your life as a movie and ask seniors to do the same.
___Being Christian- This talk leads into the rest of the retreat that explains how to live up to the ideal
of God’s Friendship. Being Christian explains that the first step of making a commitment to God is
most commonly done through our relationships with other people.
___Morning Meditation- The Morning Mediation focuses on the Three Glances of Christ, sharing
three stories of Jesus looking into the eyes of people He came across. This is a meditation rather than a
full talk.
___Discovering God’s Friendship- The purpose of the talk is to help the seniors realize that, for
anyone to say that God is their friend, they must know God. Our image of God should change as we
grow older and we get to know God by studying Him. This talk welcomes seniors to a deeper, more
adult faith.
___Leaders/Love in Action- This talk on the fourth day prepares seniors to move forward from the
retreat. It shows that an individual can be a leader within his or her own environment, how being a
leader shows love, and what Christian love truly is.
___No Preference- I would like to give a talk, but I don’t feel called to any one in particular.

Retreat Team Application
Please answer the following questions to help us understand what you could bring to the retreat:
Why do you want to serve on Christian Awakening Senior Retreat XX?
What gifts and talents could you bring that would enhance the retreat?
Do you attend Mass regularly?
How do the choices you make in your daily life reflect your faith?
What are the issues that you have had to deal with in the last year (family, getting involved in a
new faith community, partying, deciding your future, friendships, dating, etc…) that you think
might help us place you in an appropriate role, talk, or place to serve the seniors?
Unfortunately, not everyone who applies for Senior Retreat will be selected to lead the experience. Please know that all
decisions regarding Senior Retreat Team are made with prudence and prayer, but that there’s not always enough room for
everyone. The Retreat Director will inform you of our decision approximately one week after the application due date.
