So close ... 3-2
Mosgiel
The Firsts had a quick opportunity to overturn our cup exit at the hands of old
boys when we ventured south again. This time we never got going ; 0-2 at h/t ,0-3
with 30 to go and we had Tom Stevens in goals, who was making his 1st team
debut this year , to thank as Tom single handily kept old boys at bay- he saved a
pen , pulled off another
Four classy saves. Couple young guys came up
from the 2nds and played well- Sam, Andrej and TK.
Dunny finally had a goal allowed with 10 to go and when
Reg scored from the spot we threatened to steal a point
however OBs held on for their deserved win.
The top of the Fletchers is extremely with 5
teams separated by the narrowest of margins and we
came up against Roslyn who were in heaven when we
were down to 10 men with only 15 mins on the clock when
Keegan was ordered off-Roslyn scored what may have
been slighlty offside . The boys battled back
and Woody equalised in the 2nd half and the game was a
great tussle and in homage to his retiring hero SAF -
coach Andy was ordered from the side line.
A 1-1 final result means the fletcher cup is
definitely tighter and more exciting than the bundesliga.
Good news for the club is that after Gary Barclay
“walked into a stiff arm” last week he got out of hospital on
Wednesday having only cracked his C2 vertebrae which
means he can still walk and he’s still alive. He’ll be in a
head and neck brace for 12 weeks and we some how
think he won’t be too keen to play in that gentlemans
league that is masters.
Without him the mosgiel Gerries had a good
result 4-4 with Braes. Oldies United hit spanked 4-1
against Melchester with Burgie skying a last min pen.
Masters got trumped 2-4 v Frotts with Foz and
Simon dragging us back to 2-2 but despite throwing
everything at the Frotts we weren’t able to “rub” them out.
