admin@footballsouth.co.nz 1-2 Loss Caversham There were some mixed results through the various divisions this week. Our Firsts suffered their first loss of the season going down 2 - 1 to Roslyn. This makes for a very interesting table with any one of 5 teams in the mix nearing the halfway point of the season. This is great for football in the South. The Fletcher Cup side ran out comfortable winners over Balclutha thumping them 6 - nil in what can sometimes be a tough road trip. Thought we might have been able to hang on after pulling back to 3-2 after letting the lead go. But let slip and couldn’t hold them out till the end, and after they equalised again we were gutted to have them score in the last minute to beat us 4-3. Alan. Caversham Smeg. In football like aircrashes there is usually, when investigated thoroughly, an abundance of errors that individually seem insignificant but when found in sequence will inevitably lead to catastrophy. For Smeg the failure of key team members to show up, not passing to our team mates, passing the ball to the oposition instead, not training yet this season, shooting wide, not shooting at all and not stopping Melchester from shooting clearly lead to another momentous failure on our part to increase our points tally. The game was played in good spirit, refereeing was great and on the up side... it didnt rain. 2-nil Melchester. Shane. The Eagles won again beating a tough University http://www.footballsouth.co.nz/ side 3 - 1 and that is now 7 straight wins putting them http://www.footballsouth.co.nz/ 3 points clear at the top after Roslyn White upset Roslyn Black. The Phoenix from all accounts had another win and the over 35s were left to ref the other games in that division as they had the bye this weekend.
