Valuation USAID Jordan Fiscal Reform II Project Photo caption: Jordan Customs trainer provides instruction for ASEZA employees. Amman Customs House Process mapping has begun at Amman Custom House, by FRP II STTA Dr. Mohammad Tarawneh. This task is essential in light of the proposed streamlining of procedures and refurbishment of Amman Customs House planned for Year 3. The success of changes at Amman Custom House requires detailed preparation. During February, Valuation STTA Mr. Fred Levitan concluded his trip to Jordan. Mr. Levitan worked with JC Valuation Directorate to assess current valuation methodology and practices in JC and to benchmark them in line with the GATT Valuation agreement, to which Jordan is a signatory. Mr. Levitan submitted a draft report for review after his departure. Based on his February report, Mr. Levitan returned in April to carry out a series of training seminars and to assist with the implementation of practical solutions in conjunction with JC Valuation Directorate. A full report with findings will be available during mid-May after the completion of his current trip. King Abdullah II Award Mr. Weam Obeidat joined the component in February as the KAA support to JC. Mr. Obeidat has integrated himself into both the FRP II team and the JC KAA team and has formed an easy working relationship, responding to the needs and concerns of JC during this difficult phase of the KAA assessment process. During the quarter, the KAA Knowledge Management Advisor, Mr. Mohamad Humash also provided valuable training for Customs. Continuous advisory services included knowledge management readiness surveys, knowledge management mapping, monitoring and evaluation approaches, and 2011-2012 Knowledge Management Strategy.
