Background
Council occasionally receives requests for events to be held on or in Council owned or
operated facilities that involve the use of animals. This Policy provides guidance in
assessing whether to allow the use of animals for entertainment on or in Council owned
or operated facilities.
Policy Statement
1. Council opposes the use of animals for any form of entertainment where suffering is
likely to be caused.
2. The use of domesticated animals for entertainment on or in Council owned or
operated facilities may be approved where such use can be demonstrated to be in
conformity with relevant State or Federal Government legislation and/or standards.
3. The use of exotic (non-domesticated) animals for entertainment on or in Council
owned or operated facilities will not be permitted.
