Dr. Klaus Tauer
Heterophase polymerization – Group Leader
Colloids Chemistry Department
Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces
Am Mühlenberg 1, D-14476
Golm, Germany
Education
Klaus Tauer studied chemistry at the Friedrich – Schiller University Jena (1970-1977).
He got his PhD on "Investigations of spectral sensitization of photoconductivity of
poly(arylene vinylene) polymers" in 1978, under the supervision of H.-H. Hörhold.
He received his habilitation in 1987 working on the kinetics, mechanisms, and mathematical
modeling of emulsion polymerization of vinyl chloride.
Professional Experience
Since 1977 he started working on heterophase polymerization, first at the Institute for
Polymer Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the former GDR in Teltow-Seehof, and
later, since 1992, at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in the division of
Colloid Chemistry (Director: Markus Antonietti).
