PentaTone Club
PentaTone decided to create a website where members of the PentaTone Club
can purchase Super Audio CDs at a discount of at least 15%.
Additionally, members of the PentaTone Club will receive the PentaTone e-mail newsletter.
This announces the new PentaTone releases, and provides other news concerning PentaTone,
its artists and its recordings.
PentaTone Club members will also be the first to receive information regarding special PentaTone
campaigns. The membership fee quickly repays itself: if you buy more than two SA-CDs per year,
you already stand to gain.
Super Audio CD: the next generation delivery format
Super Audio CD takes digital audio sound-quality to new heights, incorporating many of the
best features of analogue recording within a highly advanced digital technology. It also adds
a new dimension to the experiencing of sound. The enormous storage capacity of the Super
Audio CD allows the reproduction of multi-channel recordings without compression on the disc. The
acoustics of the recording venue are reproduced in your own living-room. The huge storage potential
of SA-CD also enables the addition of both extremely high and low frequencies, which had to be deleted
on the traditional CD due to its limited storage capacity. All PentaTone recordings implement the
new Direct Stream Digital technology, and are released on hybrid SA-CDs.
Hybrid format for backwards compatibility
The hybrid Super Audio CDs enable PentaTone to release discs containing both a multi-channel
version of the recording (on the High Density [SA-CD] layer) and a conventional stereo version
(on the CD layer).
Hybrid Super Audio CDs can be used in the massive installed base of more than one billion CD players.
Consumers can benefit from the exceptional performance and multi-channel possibilities offered
by the SA-CD when played on a SA-CD-player, while still being able to listen to part of the content on
the standard CD systems (e.g. in the car or on a Discman).
