PALM SPRINGS, CA – Tony Marchese and Mark Van Laanen, co-owners of TRIO Restaurant in Palm
Springs’ Uptown Design District, have revitalized the legendary Purple Room at the Club Trinidad
Resort, located at 1900 E. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. The revamped restaurant and show
lounge opened to the public on Thursday, October 24, 2013.
Supper club, drinks & live music
“The goal for us is to offer a place where you can come in, have a great meal, and enjoy a wonderful
show,” says Tony Marchese, co-owner with Mark Van Laanen. “We will be serving up an eclectic menu
with the unique brand of hospitality that has made Trio a popular destination for desert nightlife. The
Purple Room, like its big brother TRIO, will be a place where Palm Springs plays. Anyone can walk in,
relax, and make themselves at home.”
The new Purple Room will offer an $18 nightly dinner special from 3–6 pm, $3 well, $5 call and $8
premium drinks during Happy Hour and half-price small plates. We will be featuring an amazing
cocktail menu. Friday and Saturday food will be available until 2AM. “Our Continental menu will have a
mix of everything,” says Van Laanen. “From deviled eggs and Sloppy Joe sliders to fresh seafood and
steaks, we’ll have delicious options for every palate.”
Club Trinidad Resort was built in 1960, which is when the Purple Room first opened its doors. The
still-popular venue is considered to be one of Palm Springs’ original Rat Pack hangouts, where Frank
Sinatra brought his friends to eat, drink and play. The Purple room re-opens with its pedigree legacy in
mind, featuring swanky updated décor, an enlarged performance stage, and state-of-the-art sound for
the best live Entertainment in town.
“This place has such a colorful history, and our goal is to provide top quality entertainment six nights
a week,” Marchese says. “We promise there will always be an exciting energy in the room, whether we
have a DJ or a live act.”
Gary and Joan Gand, of the popular local musical act The Gand Band, will be part of the venue’s
music team to help book a steady stream of top entertainment. The Gands have been on the Palm
Springs music scene for years. “Teaming up with Tony and Mark is a dream come true,” exclaimed
Gary. “Desert hipsters, you’ve been notified!”
The Purple Room will be open from 3PM to midnight weekdays and until 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays,
and closed on Mondays. For more information, call 760-322-4422 or visit www.purpleroompalmsprings.com.
