The US Ambassador to <strong>Macedonia</strong>, Philip T. Reeker joined <strong>USAID</strong> Competiveness Project, <strong>Macedonia</strong> business<br />
community, financial banking institutions and financial consultants, to acknowledge the champions facilitating<br />
new investments in <strong>Macedonia</strong> companies on March 30. The Ambassador handed certificates of appreciation<br />
to the best performing financial consultants and investment oriented companies. Tehnokoop, Zavar, Te‐Te<br />
Plast was the companies acknowledged<br />
along with the best performing<br />
consultants: Simon Avramovski, Blagoja<br />
Milosevski and Goce Mojanoski. A<br />
special certificate of appreciation was<br />
awarded to the <strong>Macedonia</strong>n Bank for<br />
Promotion of Development as a long<br />
standing partner to MCP. The event<br />
was well attended with over 150<br />
participants, and extremely well<br />
covered in all national electronic and<br />
printed media. A total of 11 TV crews<br />
were present at the event, including six<br />
of the top seven national television<br />
networks: A1, Channel 5, MTV, Alfa TV,<br />
Alsat –M, Telma. Articles about the<br />
event were printed in all national Toni Bozinovski of Tehnokoop giving statement to media<br />
newspapers, including: Dnevnik,<br />
Kapital, Nova Makedonija, Vest, Biznis, Vecer.<br />
Media outreach<br />
The Competitiveness Project regularly uses <strong>Macedonia</strong>n national and local media as a tool to deliver messages<br />
to the public, and gain greater public awareness of the Project’s activities, concepts, achievements and results.<br />
Over the course of the second quarter of FY11, MCP activities and achievements were featured in national<br />
television shows and newspapers. Public events, conferences, and presentations organized this year (outlined<br />
in the previous section) received extensive media coverage in major national printed media. This includes<br />
Kapital daily, Kapital weekly, Dnevnik daily, Utrinski Vesnik daily, Vecer daily, Biznis daily, Vreme daily. Also<br />
major national television networks covered MCP events, including Kanal 5, Sitel TV, <strong>Macedonia</strong>n National<br />
Television (MTV), Telma TV, A1 TV, Alfa TV, AlSat M, Sky Net, 24 Hours News, AB Channel, and others. Two<br />
press releases announced the third apparel buyers week and MCP Financial Platform celebration event. Press<br />
clippings on MCP visibility in the media are compiled and submitted to <strong>USAID</strong> on monthly basis. They are also<br />
available for download from the MCP web site.<br />
Specific examples of media interviews and major newspaper articles this quarter include:<br />
• On February 11, Mirjana Makedonska, Access to Finance Manager gave an interview for all major local<br />
TVs, radios and newspapers in Kumanovo about the MCP Financial Platform financial services.<br />
• On February 04, MCP Innovation Center Manager, Zarko Pop‐Iliev gave a statement printed in Kapital<br />
business weekly on the topic of importance of commercialization of innovations.<br />
