. is supplemented by the desire of Cadillac
body builders to provide maximum
motoring comfort and convenience. The
earnest ambition of factory designers to
incorporate, every possible motoring convenience
as a Cadillac feature has created
rather than catered to the tastes of discriminating
motorists.
It has been the thought of body engineers
not only to include these comforts as standard
Cadillac equipment; but so to
incorporate
them in the general design that,built-in rather
than 'added on, they contribute
character
and: dignity to the bearing of the whole cur.

•Convenience and comfort are amply pre-
.scribed in the arrangement of the driver's
compartment. Everything is within easy
reach. Steering wheel, gear shift lever,
hand and foot brakes, clutch pedal and foot
throttle are all designed and placed so that
their manipulation easily becomes instinc-
. rive; v There is thus an added certainty to
every driving operation.
The large steering wheel fits conveniently
- into the driver's lap, though easily pushed

out of the way tor getting in or out. The
ease with which the car is guided is one
reason so many women are driving Cadillacs.
Turning effort at the steering wheel, due
very largely to anti-friction bearings and
close workmanship in the steering system,
requires little strength. Straightening up
after a curve, the caster effect in the front
spindles gives the front wheels a strong
tendency to come back to center.
The electric horn button is at the top of
the steering column in the center of the
wheel. A touch from any angle brings
instant response from the familiar Cadillac
horn.
The gear change lever is long and close up,
so that the hand falls naturally to grasp
it. When occasionally it is necessary to
shift gears, a minimum of effort is required
and only a small movement of the lever.
The smoothness of the clutch action is a
surprise. It disengages with slight resistance.
The braking effort is equalized between
the wheels, reducing the chance of
skidding, and the light pressure which brings
the car to a stop is possible without the
driver altering his position. The car
decelerates smoothly, but with a satisfying
