SUMMARY
The La Reine River Property consists of 62 contiguous, nonpatented
mining claims situated in Hepburn Township, Ontario
along the Normetal-Ligneris greenstone belt which forms part of
the Abitibi Subprovince of the Archean Superior Province of the
Precambrian Shield.
This greenstone belt is considered to be Hunter Mine Group
(2708my) in age (OGS Hap 2484) consisting of an assemblage of
mafic to felsic metavolcanics, metasediments and igneous rocks
which are bordered by granitic batholiths. Diabase dikes are
interpretated to cross the area in a northeast direction.
The property was flown in March of 1988 by Aerodat Limited using
their helicopter borne electromagnetic and magnetic system along
lines at 100 metre intervals. During 1990 a total of 13.5 km of
linecutting, magnetometer and induced polarization surveys,
geological mapping, gold in humus geochemistry and one diamond
drill hole was completed totalling 256 metres.
During the present program in 1991 the old baseline was extended
from 30E to 54E. A total of 12.6 km of linecutting and a
magnetometer survey was carried out along the baseline and
crosslines at 200 metre intervals from 36E to 54E. An induced
polarization survey totalling 8 km was carried out on lines at
200 metre intervals from 36E to 50E.

The Hepburn Fault zone is indicated by anomalous local magnetics
and induced polarization zone No. 3 from line 25E to 48E which is
a resistivity low with associated weak frequency effect and metal
factor that may be disseminated pyrite. This zone on the Aerodat
airborne is represented by a resistivity low. Diamond drill hole
Mo. RR-90-1 investigated the IP anomaly No. 3 and intersected the
shear zone on section 24B. The drill hole indicated a highly
sheared zone over a width of 50 metres with low gold values but
strong alteration (silicification: 7^, pyritization: 2-4% and
garnetization: 3%) and numerous grey feldspar porphyry dikes on
footwall and hangingwall. Grab samples from outcrop along the
Hepburn Fault Zone on line 46E at 2+62N returned values of 96 and
41 ppb Au. The outcrop is strongly sheared with strong
silicification, pyritization (S-5%) and contains banded quartz.
Induced polarization anomaly No. l south of the baseline extends
from 15E to 50E as a resistivity low with good response on the
frequency effect, metal factor and magnetic correlation in part.
The cause of the anomaly is possibly disseminated sulphides and
or magnetite in a mafic tuff. Gold in humus geochemistry from
line 15E to 30E returned negative results.
An exploration program of geological mapping, gold in humus
geochemistry and three diamond drill holes totalling 450 metres
is recommended to test the two induced polarization anomalies

6
from 36E to 54E for gold mineralization. This Includes
investigating the IP anomaly No. 3 and the mineralized altered
outcrop on line 46E along the Hepburn Fault Zone; and the IP
anomaly No. l in possible mafic tuff along the volcanosedimentary
contact for gold mineralization.
The expenditures for the recommended exploration program on the
La Reine River Property are estimated at $ 46,250.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Geophysical ground surveys have been completed that were
partially funded under Ontario Mineral Incentive Program (OHIP)
and the Ontario Prospectors Assistance Program (OPAP) by Lesley
Blain on the La Reine River Property, Hepburn Township, Province
of Ontario. The geophysical ground program was designed to
investigate the Hepburn shear zone with IP and magnetometer
surveys as indicated on the Aerodat helicopter borne
electromagnetic and magnetic system by a series of resistivity
lows.
The Induced Polarization survey was carried out by Remy Belanger
from December 18 to 21, 1991 and the magnetometer survey by Fred
Sharpley from December 17 to 30, 1991.
December 17,1991.
2.2 Location and Access
The property is located 103 kms (64 mi) east of Cochrane, Ontario
in Hepburn Township: 24 kms (15 mi) north of Lake Abitibi and 3
kms (2 mi) west of the Ontario-Quebec border. The Cochrane-La
Sarre Highway (Ontario 652 or Quebec 111) is an all weather
highway and
provides access to the central part of the property;
a distance of 3.5 kms (2 mi) by four wheel drive from the main
highway at mileage 111. The turn-off from the Patten River road
is at 7 kms where an old road extends to old Camp 24. The area is
accessible by helicoper from La Sarre, a distance of 48 kms

(30 mi) to the southeast. By road the property is 47 kms (29 mi)
from Normetal or 68 kms (42 mi) from La Sarre.
9
2.3 Topography
The topography on the property is gently rolling with outcrop
knolls and sand, gravel forming ridges less than 15 m (50 ft).
The outcrop areas form less than l percent of the area. The
swamps form the 60 percent of the property. The forest cover is
mainly spruce. The soil cover is mainly clay with local areas of
sand, gravel and boulders between the swamps.
The area has been cut over by AP&P and is undergoing second
growth.
There are a few small intermittent streams on the claim group.
Water for drilling purposes is probably available from the small
lakes and ponds on the property or from the La Reine River.
The climate is typical
of northern Ontario with snow cover and
cold weather from mid November until May.

10
3.0 EXPLORATION HISTORY
3.1 Regional History
The first geological observations were recorded in 1901 by
Coulthard, Tanton 1919, Hopkins 1918, Knight 1919, Mavdsley
1930, Flaherty 1839 and Thompson 1937. Since the 1920's,
prospectors and mining companies have shown great interest in the
region, chiefly because of the proximity to the Normetal mine
which is 10 miles to the east of the La Reine River property. The
Normetal mine produced 12 million tons grading 2.20 % Cu and 5.20
* Zn with 1.4 OPT Ag and 0.02 OPT Au (NM 1989). The mine is now
shut down.
The area was mapped geologically by S.B. Lumbers of the O.G.S.
(O.D.H. Geological Report No. 14; Map 2025; South Patten River
Area) in 1963 on a scale of 1"-1X2 mile.
The area was mapped again in
(Map 2453) on a scale of 1:100,000.
1978 by G.W. Johns of the O.G.S.
The airborne magnetic map 2366 G by the
area.
G.S.C.-O.D.M. covers the
The airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey of the Detour-
Burntbush-Abitibi Area was carried out by the Ontario Geological
Survey in 1989.

11
3.2 Property History
Canadian Superior Explorations Limited in 1966 carried out ground
horizontal loop electromagnetic surveys over a grid on the
northwest edge of the property and drilled nine diamond drill
holes to test anomaly No. A-4 in Adair Township. The anomaly was
caused by massive to disseminated pyrrhotite and pyrite in felsic
tuffs.
Gold Hill Resources Inc. in 1984 explored the extension of
Anomaly No. A-4 in Adair Township with two diamond drill holes.
Keldor Resources Inc. in 1987 drilled 27 reverse circulation
holes east of the La Reine River property on strike in Hepburn
Township adjacent to the Quebec border. Hole No. 42 on claim
906492 on the boundary of the La Reine River property returned an
assay of 14045 ppb Au in a basal till sample containing three
grains of gold. The drill hole is located adjacent to the
volcanic-sedimentary contact (Compilation Map: S-91-8-05). This
sample did not have the delicate grains of gold but Hole Nos. 41
and 59 contained two and one delicate grains in basal till
samples respectively adjacent to the volcanic-sedimentary
contact.

12
In 1988 the Seal River Explorations Limited property was flown by
Aerodat Limited using a combined helicopter borne magnetic and
electromagnetic and VLP survey using a three frequency E.M.
system with lines spaced at 100 metre intervals.
The combined magnetic and electromagnetic survey of the Detour-
Bur ntbush-Abitibi Area flown by the O.G.S. in 1989 with 200 metre
lines covers the La Reine River property on Map 81228.
Seal River Explorations Limited in 1990 carried out 13 line km of
induced polarization and 13.5 line km of magnetometer surveys,
geological mapping and limited gold in humus geochemistry.
Seal River Explorations Limited drilled one diamond drill hole
for a total of 256 metres in late 1990.
3.3 Recent Regional Activity
The Casa Berardi-Normetal greenstone belt has undergone extensive
activity since 1984. The
Golden Pond discoveries by Inco-Golden
Knight in Casa Berardi Township started production in 1988 with
reserves of 10 million tons grading 0.22 OPT Au (Canadian Mines
Handbook - 1988-89).
The companies currently active in the Normetal area on the

13
Ontario side ace Cominco Limited,
Noranda Explorations Limited
and BPH-Utah who drilled 15 diamond drill holes in Abbotsford
Township in late 1991.
Cominco Limited in joint venture with Exploration Miniere
Normetal Inc.
is currently re-examining the Normetal property in
Desmeloizes and Perron Townships for base metals. Geological
Reserves are stated at 431,000 tons grading 12% Zn and l OPT Ag
(Canadian Mines Handbook 1988-89).

14
4.O GEOLOGY
4.1 REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The La Reine River property Iles along the Casa Berardi-Normetal-
Lignerls greenstone belt which forms part of the Abitibi
Subprovince, Superior Province of the Precambrian Shield.
The greenstone belts north of the Destor-Porcuplne Fault are
considered to be Hunter Mine Group, Cycle II; the Kidd Creek
rhyolites are 2702 my. (OGS Map 2484 -
the Abitibi Subprovince).
Lithostratigraphic Map of
The Casa Berardi Fault extends through the northern part of the
area. The Abitibi Fault extends through the southern part of the
area. The Privat-Launay Fault extends through the Normetal area.
A swarm of northeastern trending diabase dikes extend through the
Abitibi-Normetal area.
4.2 Property Geology
The La Reine River property lies near the southwestern boundary
of the Casa Berardi-Normetal greenstone belt which forms a part
of the Abitibi Subprovince, Superior Province of the Canadian
Shield (Figure 3).

15
The La Relne River portion of the greenstone belt consists of an
assemblage of mainly mafic with minor felsic metavolcanics,
metasediments and igneous intrusive rocks which are bordered by
granitic batholiths. The rocks strike southeast and dip steeply
northeast in all parts of the area.
The La Reine River property is underlain by mafic metavolcanics
in the central part of the property with minor felsic to
intermediate tuffaceous rocks. The metasediments composed mainly
of greywacke and calc-silicate rock predominate in the southern
part of the property. The Patten River Pluton which is
granodiorite in composition borders the northeast edge of the
property.
A strike fault (Hepburn Fault) crosses the central portion of the
property.
Metamorphism of the flow rocks has produced fine to mediumgrained,
amphibole-rich metavolcanics ranging in color from grey
or pale green to dark greenish black metamorphosed basaltic and
andesitic flows. Most of the flow rocks are foliated and exhibit
volcanic structures recognized as massive, amygdaloidal,
pillowed, diabasic or gabbroic, and porphyritic types (Lumbers
1963). Felsic metavolcanics consist of flow, tuff, lapilli-tuff,
pyroclastic breccia, and tuff breccia.

16
5.0 MINERALIZATION
5.1 Regional Mineralization
Base metal mineralization at the Normetal mine Is in a lenticular
body of massive sulfldes comprising mostly pyrite, chalcopyrite
and sphalerite. The deposit is in a shear zone striking N 65 W
and dipping 80 NW in felsic tuffs and agglomerates. It is cut by
the north trending diabase dike. The Normetal mine produced 12
million tons grading 2.20 % Cu and 5.20 * Zn with 1.4 OPT Ag and
0.02 OPT Au. The mine is now shut down (NM 1989). The present
reserves as listed by Normetal Mining Exploration Inc. in the
Canadian Mines Handbook - 1991-92 are 431,000 tons averaging 12 *
Zn and l OPT Ag.
Gold mineralization in the Casa Berardi area is stratabound
associated with pyrite, arsenopyrite, quartz veining and
sericite-carbonate alteration in a volcano-sedimentary
environment (Descarreaux 1984).
Gold mineralization in the Ligneris area is stratabound
associated with disseminated pyrite in a felsic volcanic
environment.

17
5.2 Property Mineralization
Vary little outcrop has been observed on the property. The
airborne geophysics indicates the rocks in the central portion of
the property have been depleted in iron probably due to the
closeness of the granodiorite pluton.
The Hepburn Fault Zone traverses the central part of the property
at 40 degrees and dips northeast at 70 degrees. In hole No. RR-
90-1 the fault is a highly altered shear zone over a width of 50
metres. The hangingwall and footwall of the shear zone contain
numerous narrow grey feldspar porphyry dikes. The alteration
consists of silicification, pyritization (2-4%) and garnetization
(3%). A whole rock analysis and an ICP analysis of one sample
from DDH No. RR-90-1 from 171.69 to 172.39 metres (sample No.
9770) indicated high silica (71*), alumina (12.6*) and ferrie
iron (4.09*). High trace elements are chromium (458ppm), barium
(869ppm), zirconium (196ppm), Y (45ppm), SR (90ppm) RB (39ppm)
and NB (32ppm). The gold assays from the drill core were very low
with a peak value of 12 ppb.
Grab samples from outcrop on line 46E at 2+62N returned values of
96 and 41 ppb Au. The outcrop is strongly sheared with strong
silicification, pyritization (3-5*) and contains banded quartz.
A whole rock and an ICP analysis of this sample No. 2 indicated
high silica (75.69*) and ferrie iron (12.15*); and low in soda

18
U.05%), potash (0.31*), magnesia (Q.85%) and lime (G.72%). High
trace elements are chromium (1034ppm) and manganese (721ppm).

19
6.0 MAGNETOMETER SURVEY
The old baseline was extended from 30E to 54E with stations
established at 25 metre intervals. Crosslines were established at
200 metre intervals from 36E to 54E (eg. 36E, 38B, 40E, 42E, 44E,
46E, 48E, 50E, 52E and 54E). A proton total field magnetometer
survey was carried out over this grid.
A Geometric G-816
proton total field magnetometer with direct
readout was used for the survey. Magnetic diurnal variations
were monitored by establishing base stations at 25 metre
intervals along the baseline. Readings were taken along grid
lines spaced at 200 metre intervals with stations spaced at 12.5
metres along the line. Magnetic diurnal variations were monitored
by looping lines and checking into established baseline base
stations (at the intersection of baseline and crosslines) at
intervals of less than one and one half hours. Approximately 12.6
line kilometers of data were recorded in this way.
Corrections to the magnetic field values recorded during the
field
survey were made using the approximate time and diurnal
change information. A regional value of 58,000 gammas was
subtracted from all the corrected magnetic values. The values
were then plotted at a scale of 1:5000 and profiled along the
line using a base of 58,400 gammas. A separate magnetic value and
profile map was produced and then reduced to a scale of 1:10,000

20
(see Map S-91-8-01, 02). To correlate with the old survey a value
of 100 gammas was added to the new readings. The baseline from
30E to 50E and the corresponding crosslines were read on December
17 and 18,1991. The baseline from 50E to 54E and the
corresponding crosslines were read on December 30,1991.

21
7.0 INDUCED POLARIZATION SURVEY
Remy Belanger carried out a dipole-dipole induced polarization
survey over a 200 metre grid system. A total of 8.0 kms of 100
metre spreads n^ to n-4 was used with .25 and 4.0 hertz
frequencies. A Phoenix I.P.V-1 receiver and a I.P.T-1 transmitter
was used to carry out the survey with a generator of 2.0 kw.
The data is presented in a separate report by Remy Belanger as
pseudo-sections of the calculated apparent resistivity and
percentages of frequency effect. Plan maps are presented as
surface projections of the interpretated I.P. anomaly zone,
frequency effect of n=2 /
factor of n=2.
apparent resistivity of n z 2 and metal
The induced polarization survey was carried
out during December
1991. Lines 36E, 38E, 40E, 42B, 44E, 46E, 48E and 50E are
presented in a separate report by Remy Belanger.

22
8.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The regional magnetic background across the areas surveyed is
approximately 58,500 gammas. Investigation of a series of Aerodat
airborne resistivity lows resulted in the following I.P.
anomalous zones:
Anomalous Zone f l (H-l)
Anomalous zone fi from line 30E to 50E at 0+50S to 2+OOS
indicates a good response on the frequency effect of up to 2.9%
in a low resistivity zone with an average metal factor of 10.
Magnetic correlation is mainly on the flank of the IP anomaly of
up to 1200 gammas above background. The best response is on line
40E from 23 to 3S and on line 48E from 0+50S to 2S. This IP
anomaly is the continuation of the same anomaly from line 15E to
30E on the old grid.
Anomalous zone 13 (Hepburn Fault Zone)
The No. 3 zone is possible anomalous from 36E to 40E at
H-50N to
3N and from 46E to 48E at 3N. The frequency response varies from
Q.3% to 1.1\. The metal factor varies from 1.1 to 1.8. The best
metal factor
response is on line 46E at 3N and on 36E at 2N. The
resistivity response is low in the anomalous area with a
corresponding high on the north side of the anomaly on lines 46E
and 48E. This IP anomaly is the continuation of the same anomaly
fron line 25E to 30E on the old grid. IP anomaly No. 3 has an

partial intermittent magnetic correlation of 600 gammas above
background.
23

24
7.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The La Reine River property warrants further exploration for
gold. Extensive exploration has been carried out for base metals
and gold in the felsic volcanics to the north but the tholeiitic
volcanics and the sediments to the south have not been explored.
The favorable geological environment in the mafic volcanics are
as follows:
(a) Hepburn Fault Zone (IP Anomaly No. 1):
This zone is indicated by anomalous I.P. zone 13 from line 25E
to 48E which is a low resistivity zone with associated weak
frequency effect and metal factor that may be disseminated
pyrite. This zone on the Aerodat airborne is represented by a
resistivity low. Diamond drill hole No. RR-90-1 intersected the
shear zone on section 24E, indicating a highly sheared zone over
a width of 50 metres with strong silicification, pyritization (2-
4*) and garnetization. The zone is highly altered with silica and
garnets with significant trace elements such as chromium/ barium
and zirconium. The hangingwall and footwall of the shear zone
contain numerous narrow grey feldspar porphyry dikes. A grab
sample from outcrop on line 46E at 2+62N returned values of 96
and 41 ppb Au. The outcrop is strongly sheared with strong
silicification, pyritization (S-5%) and contains banded quartz.

25
(b) Anomaly H-l Zone (IP Anomaly No. 3):
The Aerodat airborne survey indicates a series of resistivity
lows are outlined along strike with possible mafic tuff
association. This zone is indicated by anomalous I.P. zone fi
which extends from 15E to 50E as a resistivity low with good
response on the frequency effect, metal factor and magnetic
correlation in part that possibly is caused by disseminated
sulphides and or magnetite.
An exploration program of geological mapping, gold in humus
geochemistry and 450 metres of diamond drilling is recommended
to test the two induced polarization anomalies from 36E to 54E
for gold mineralization.
Expenditures for the exploration program on the La Heine River
Property are estimated at $ 46,250. The budget is detailed in
Appendix III.
SUMMARY
The Patten River Property consists of 32 contiguous, non-patented
mining claims situated along the Casa Berardi-Normetal-Ligneris
greenstone belt which forms part of the Abitibi Subprovince of
the Archean Superior Province of the Precambrian Shield.
This greenstone belt is considered to be Hunter Mine Group
(2708my) in age (OGS Map 2484) consisting of an assemblage of
mafic to felsic metavolcanics, metasediments and igneous rocks
which are bordered by granitic batholiths. Diabase dikes are
interpretated to cross the area in a northeast direction.
The property was flown in March of 1988 by Aerodat Limited using
their helicopter borne electromagnetic and magnetic system along
lines at 100 metre intervals. Anomaly Nos. A-3, A-6 S A-7 and A-8
fi A-9 were covered on the ground with electromagnetic and
magnetic surveys over a total of 16.6 kms during December 1989.
During 1990 these anomalies were covered with geological and
geochemical surveys. One diamond drill hole tested anomaly A-6.
During 1991 the HEM anomalies on three grids A-3, A-6-7 and A-8-9
were investigated with three diamond drill holes totalling
306.92 metres. The anomaly on grid A-3 is caused by 1.62 metres
of ID-15% disseminated pyrrhotite, minor pyrite and traces of
chalcopyrite in a banded cherty tuff. The anomaly on grid A-8-9
is caused by 5.85 metres of 2-3% disseminated pyrite in a banded

5
intermediate tuff. The anomaly on grid A-6-7 is explained by
three bands of sulphide-magnetite-cherty iron formation over a
width of 0.5 to 2.13 metres. The best assay was in the cherty
iron formation which returned a value of 306 ppb Au over a width
of 0.91 metres from the core.
A total of four diamond drill holes on grids A-3, A-6-7 and A-8-9
during 1990
and 1991 adequately investigated the conductors with
negative rsults. No further exploration on the grids is
recommended.
Anomaly A-5 has not been adequately tested by previous diamond
drilling (See Map No. S-91-304- Compilation Map). The new
airborne
electromagnetic survey by the Ontario government more
adequately defines this anomaly. A small grid of 3.2 km is
recommended to explore this anomaly on the ground with HEM and
magnetic surveys.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Three diamond drill hole have been completed during September
1991 on the A-3, A-6 4 7 and the A-8 S 9 grid of the Patten River
Property in Abbotsford Township, Province of Ontario. The drill
holes were designed to evaluate the economic potential of
coincident HEM and gold in humus geochemical anomalies in areas
of favorable geological environment.
The 1991 exporation program was financed by Allen Amos and Fred
Sharpley under the Ontario Prospector's Assistance Program (OPAP)
and in conjunction with the Ontario Mineral Incentive Program
(OMIP).
2. O PROPERTY
The Patten River property consists of 32 contiguous, non-patented
mining claims located in Abbotsford Township in the Larder Lake
Mining Division of Northeastern Ontario.
The claims appear on claim map G-3462 and are shown on Figure 2
and numbered as follows:
L-895497 to L-895500 inclusive
L-954642 to L-954643 inclusive

L-954648 to L-954652 inclusive
L-954655 to L-954661 inclusive
L-954797 to L-954799 inclusive
L-954803 to L-954806 inclusive
L-960938 to L-960940 inclusive
L-960949 to L-960950 inclusive
L-968296 to L-968297
The claims total 1280 acres or 517.99 hectares and are registered
in the name of Seal River Explorations Limited.
2.2 Location and Access
The property is located 103 km (64 mi) east of Cochrane, Ontario
in Abbotsford Township: 24 km (15 mi) north of Lake Abitibi and
13 km (8 mi) west of the Ontario-Quebec border. The Cochrane-La
Sarre Highway (Ontario 652 or Quebec 111) is an all weather
highway and provides access to the central part
of the property;
a distance of 15 km (9 mi) by four wheel drive from the main
highway at mileage 111. The turn-off from the Patten River road
(Mace Bay road) is at 9 km where an old road extends west to old
abandoned Camp 20. The area is accessible by helicoper from La
Sarre, a
distance of 48 km (30 mi) to the southeast. By road the
property is 47 km (29 mi) from Normetal or 68 km (42
Sarre.
mi) from La

2.3 Topography
The topography on the property is gently rolling with outcrop
knolls and sand eskers forming ridges less than 15 m (50 ft).
The outcrop areas form less than l percent of the area. The sand
esker forms 30 percent of the property in the central part of the
area. The surrounding area is swampy with spruce and clay cover
while the sand and gravel areas are covered with jack pine.
The area has been cut over by AP&P and is undergoing second
growth.
There are a few small intermittent streams on the claim group.
Water for drilling purposes is probably available from the small
lakes and ponds on the property.
The climate is typical of northern Ontario with snow cover and
cold weather from mid November until May.

3.0 EXPLORATION HISTORY
3.1 Regional History
The first geological observations were recorded in 1901 by
Coulthard, Tanton 1919, Hopkins 1918, Knight 1919, Mawdsley
1930, Flaherty 1839 and Thompson 1937. Since the 1920's,
prospectors and mining companies have shown great interest in the
region, chiefly because of the proximity to the Normetal mine
which is
15 miles (24 km) from the Patten River property.
The Normetal produced 12 million tons grading 2.20 % Cu and S.20%
Zn with 1.4 OPT Ag and 0.02 OPT Au (NM 1989). The mine is now
shut down.
The area was mapped geologically by S.B. Lumbers of the O.G.S.
(O.D.M. Geological Report No. 14; Map 2025; South Patten River
Area) in 1963 on a scale of 1^=1/2 mile.
The area was mapped again in 1978 by G.W. Johns of the O.G.S.
(Map 2453) on a scale of 1:100,000.
The airborne
area .
magnetic map 2366 G by the G.S.C.-O.D.M. covers the
The airborne magnetic and
electromagnetic survey of the Detour-
Burntbush-Abitibi Area
Survey in 1989.
was carried out by the Ontario Geological

10
3.2 Property History
In 1965 Canadian Javelin Ltd. carried out ground
horizontal loop
electromagnetic surveys
over a grid on the northeast edge of the
property and drilled 9 diamond drill holes to test anomaly No.
A-4 in Abbotsford and Adair Townships. The anomaly was caused by
massive to disseminated pyrrhotite in felsic tuffs.
Canadian Superior Explorations Limited in 1966 carried out
vertical-loop E.M. on a faulted extension of anomaly No. A-6, A-
10 five miles to the northwest. Three diamond drill holes
encountered pyrrhotite-pyritized iron formation in a felsic to
intermediate pyroclastic within a package of basaltic flows.
Gold Hill Resources Inc. in 1984 explored the extension of
Anomaly No. A-4 in Adair Township with two diamond drill holes.
Rave Resources Inc. in 1989 explored the extension of Anomaly No.
A-4 and adjacent anomalies in Abbotsford and Adair Townships by
power stripping, channel sawing, sampling, overburden drilling
and diamond drilling.
In 1988 the Seal River Explorations Limited property was flown by
Aerodat Limited using a combined helicopter borne magnetic and

electromagnetic and VLF survey using a three frequency E.M.
system with lines spaced at 100 metre intervals.
11
The combined magnetic and
electromagnetic survey of the Detour-
Burntbush-Abitibi Area flown by the O.G.S. in 1989 with 200 metre
lines covers the La Reine River property on Map 81228.
During December 1989 line cutting, magnetometer and horizontal
loop electromagnetic surveys were carried out on Grids A-3, A-6 S
7 and A-8 S 9 by Seal River Explorations Limited.
During the summer of 1990 geological mapping was carried out on
grids A-3, A-6-7 and A-8-9. Humus geochemistry for gold cover the
anomalies on grids A-3 and A-8-9. One diamond drill hole
investigated anomaly No. A-6-7 with 151.8 m. This work was
carried out by Seal River Explorations Limited.
3.3 Recent Regional Activity
The Casa Berardi-Normetal greenstone belt has undergone extensive
activity since 1984. The Golden Pond discoveries by Inco-Golden
Knight in Casa Berardi Township started production in 1988 with
reserves of 10 million tons grading
Placer-Dome and Uhtah. In late 1990 Noranda drilled 4500 feet in
nine holes. In early 1991 Cominco drilled four holes at Joe Lake.
Exploration Miniere Normetal Inc. is currently re-examininq the
Normetal property in Desmeloizes and Perron Townships for base
metals. Geological Reserves are stated at 431,000 tons grading
12% Zn and l OPT Ag (Canadian Mines Handbook 1988-89). In 1990
the Normetal Property was optioned to Cominco Limited.

4.O GEOLOGY
4.1 REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The Patten River property lies along the Casa Berardi-Norroetal-
Ligneris greenstone belt which forms part of the Abitibi
Subprovince, Superior Province of the Precambrian Shield.
The greenstone belts north of the Destor-Porcupine Fault are
considered to be Hunter Mine Group, Cycle II; the Kidd Creek
rhyolites are 2702 my. (OGS Map 2484 -
Lithostratigraphic Map of
the Abitibi Subprovince).
The Patten River property lies near the southwestern boundary of
the Casa Berardi-Normetal greenstone belt which forms a part of
the Abitibi Subprovince, Superior Province of the Canadian
Shield (Figure 3).

14
The Patten River portion of the
greenstone belt consists of an
assemblage of mafic to felsic metavolcanics, metasediments and
igneous intrusive rocks which are bordered by granitic
batholiths. The rocks strike southeast and
dip steeply northeast
in all parts of the area.
The Patten River property is underlain by felsic metavolcanics on
the northeast part of the property, mafic to intermediate
metavolcanics in the central part of the property and
metasediments in the southern part of the property. The mafic
metavolcanics contain a
narrow band of ironstone. A couple of
diabase dikes are interpretated to cross the property in a north-
northeast direction.
Metamorphism of the flow rocks has produced fine to medium-
grained, amphibole-rich metavolcanics ranging in color
from grey
or pale green to dark greenish black metamorphosed basaltic and
andesitic flows. Most of the flow rocks are
foliated and exhibit
volcanic structures recognized as massive, amygdaloidal,
pillowed, diabasic or gabbroic, and porphyritic types (Lumbers
1963). Felsic metavolcanics consist of flow, tuff, lapilli-tuff,
pyroclastic breccia, and tuff-breccia.

15
5.0 MINERALIZATION
5.1 Regional Mineralization
Base metal mineralization at the Normetal mine is in a lenticular
body of
massive sulphides comprising mostly pyrite, chalcopyrite
and sphalerite. The deposit is in a shear zone striking N 65 W
and dipping 80 NW in felsic tuffs and agglomerates. It is cut by
the north trending diabase dike. The Normetal Mine produced 12
million tons
grading 2.20 % Cu and 5.20 * Zn with 1.4 OPT Ag and
0.02 OPT Au. The mine is now shut down (NM 1989).
Gold mineralization in the Casa Berardi area is stratabound
associated with pyrite, arsenopyrite, quartz veining and
sericite-carbonate alteration in a volcano-sedimentary
environment (Descarreaux 1984).
Gold mineralization in the Ligneris area is stratabound
associated with disseminated pyrite in a felsic volcanic
environment.
5.2 Property Mineralization
Quartz veins have been observed in the tholeiitic volcanics and
the clastic metasediments adjacent to the contact at sample
location No. l fi
2 but the gold values were low.

16
Cherty, garnetiferous, sulphide-magnetite iron formation in
diamond drill hole No. PR-90-1 on grid A-6 has low but anomalous
gold values ranging up to 396 ppb Au over a core length of one
metre.

17
6.0 CURRENT WORK CARRIED OUT
6.1 Diamond Drilling
During the period from September 9-13,1991, Benoit Drilling
Limited of Val d'Or, Quebec drilled three diamond drill holes for
a total of 306.92 metres. The holes were drilled on grids A-3, A-
8-9 and A-6-7.
Grid A-3
Hole No. PR-91-1 was drilled on grid A-3 to investigate a
coincident HEM, magnetic and gold in humus geochemical anomaly.
The collar
of the hole was located on line 2+ooE at 0 + 15N with a
dip of 50 degrees and an azmuth of 210 degrees. (See Section
2+OOE - Map No. S-91-3-01)
Grid A-8-9
Hole No. PR-91-2 was drilled on grid A-8-9 to investigate a
coincident HEM and gold in humus geochemical anomaly. The collar
of the hole was located on line 2 + OOE at 0+75N with a dip of 45
degrees and an azimuth of 210 degrees. (See Section 2+OOE - Map
No. S-91-3-02)
Grid A-6-7
Hole No. PR-91-3 was drilled on grid A-6-7 to explore a HEM
anomaly in the area of high magnetics. The collar of the hole was
located on line 1+OOE at 2+40S with a dip of 50 degrees and an

18
azimuth of 210 degrees. (See Section H-OOE - Map No. S-91-3-03)
A total of 41 samples of drill core were split from the three
holes by Les Blain; twelve samples from hole No. PR-91-1;
thirteen from hole No. PR-91-2; and sixteen from hole No.
PR-91-3.
The samples were assayed at Bell-White Laboratories Limited in
Haileybury, Ontario using the fire assay and atomic absorption
method.

19
7.0 RESULTS
7.1 Diamond Drilling
Grid A-3
Hole No. PR-91-1 investigated the coincident horizontal loop
electromagnetic, magnetic and gold in humus geochemical anomaly
on line 2+OOE. The hole intersected 1.62 metres of banded cherty
tuff from 67.14 to 68.76 metres with ID-15% disseminated
pyrrhotite, minor pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite. This
explains the
coincident HEM and magnetic anomaly. The assays are
very low in gold and copper.
Grid A-8-9
Hole No. PR-91-2 explored the coincident weak horizontal loop
electromagnetic and gold in humus geochemical anomaly on line
2+OOE. The hole intersected 2-3% disseminated pyrite from 69.43
to 75.28 metres in a intermediate to mafic tuff that is banded
and weakly argillaceous. This probably explains the conductor but
the gold assays are very weak.
Grid A-6-7
Hole No. PR-91-3 investigated the strong horizontal loop
electromagnetic anomaly on line 1+OOE. The hole intersected three
bands of
sulphide-magnetite-cherty iron formation over widths of
0.5 to 2.13 metres in amphibolitic basalt at metric intervals of
74.00 to 74.52, 75.77 to 77.90 and 87.78 to 88.69. The anomaly is

caused by J.5% pyrrhotite and 2(^ magnetite. A 0.91 metre interval
from 87.78 to 88.69 assayed 306 ppb Au.
20

21
8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Hole No. PR-91-1 on grid A-3 investigated the coincident HEM,
magnetic and gold in humus geochemical anomaly. The magnetic
conductor is caused by ID-15% disseminated pyrrhotite, minor
pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite over a width of 1.62
metres in
a cherty banded tuff. The gold and copper assays of the core are
very low. The gold in humus geochemical anomaly of seven times
background over the conductor is unexplained.
Hole No. PR-91-2 on grid A-8-9 explored the coincident weak HEM
and gold in humus geochemical anomaly. The weak conductor is
caused by 2-3% disseminated pyrite over a width of 5.85 metres in
a banded intermediate to mafic tuff. The gold in humus
geochemical anomaly of eight times background is unexplained.
Hole No. PR-91-3 on grid A-6-7 investigated the strong HEM
anomaly on line 1+OOE. The conductor is caused by three
bands of
sulphide-magnetite-cherty iron formation over widths of 0.5 to
2.13 metres in amphibolitic basalt. The cherty iron formation
contains 15% pyrrhotite and 20% magnetite. The best assay of
cherty iron formation is 306 ppb Au over 0.91 metres. This drill
hole is a follow-up to hole No. PR-90-1 on section 2+OOW which
returned an assay of 396 ppb over a metre. The assays from the
two holes 300 metres apart are comparable but weak.

22
A total of four diamond drill holes on grids A-3, A-6-7 and A-8-9
during 1990 and 1991 adequately investigated the conductors. No
further exploration on these grids is recommended.
Anomaly No. A-5 has not been adequately tested by previous
diamond drilling (See Map No. S-91-3-04-Compilation Map). The new
airborne electromagnetic survey by the Ontario government more
adequately defines this anomaly. A small grid of 3.2 km is
recommended to
explore this anomaly with HEM and magnetic ground
surveys.
-1-
I- INTRODUCTION
During the month of november 1991, an induced polari
zation survey was carried out on the Seal River Explorations
Limited property in Lamplugh Twp. by Remy Belanger (Geophysical
contractor). In an attempt to outline stratigraphic horizons of
disseminated sulphides and alteration zones over a five test lines.
II- LOCATION S ACCESSIBILITY
The Seal River property is situated north of highway 101
at the junction of 101 and the Esker Provincial Park road.
From the junction by a gravel road about 5 miles north.
The property covered by the survey consist of 6 claims numbered
as follows: 856397 , 856663 , 856396 , 856666 , 856670 , 856671 .
III- INDUCED POLARIZATION SURVEY
The survey 50 meters spreads n^l to ns4 was carried out
over about 3.8 kilometers of lines. Five lines of survey was
done numbered as follow: 600E, 800E, 1000E, 1300E, 1500B.
Instruments used is Phoenix receiver Turbo V—4 with 1.0 Hz.
frequency measuring the phase in (millirads), transmitter I,P.
T-l Phoenix and a generator of 1.0 Kw. of power.
The data has been plotted on pseudo-sections. The indu
ced polarization method is mainly used to detect disseminated
metallic sulphides. The phase increase is related mainly to con
ductive material like disseminated sulphide grains and the per
centage of disseminated sulphides in the rock.

-2-
IV- DATA PRESENTATION
The maps and pseudo-sections of the calculated apparent
resistivity and the phase in millirads are included in this
report.
1) Surface projection of interpreted I.P. anomaly zone.
2) Surface projection of resistivity fraser filter.
3) Surface projection of Phase fraser Filter.
4) Surface projection of Metal Factor fraser filter.
5) Apparent resistivity, phase and metal factor are presented
in this book.
V- DISCUSSION S INTERPRETATION.
Examination of the pseudo-sections reveals 4 weaks res
ponse as: Zones l, 2, 3 and 4.
Anomalous zone l on line 600E at station Bl. to 125N show a small
increase in phase in a lower resistivity with a higher metal
factor probably caused by an alteration zone with small amount
sulphide.
Anomalous zone 2 on line 1000E between 400N to SOON show a small
increase in phase with a higher metal factor due to a lower'
resistivity.
Anomalous zone 3 on line 1300E between 675N towards the north ?
small increase in phase in a lower resistivity.
Anomalous zone 4 on line 1500E between lSON to 200N show a small
increase in phase that could be cause by alteration zone.

-3-
VI- CONCLUSION S RECOMMANDATION
Seal River property show 4 weak zones l to 4 .
Zone l on line 600B is the best line for any drilling.
A drill hole on line 800E at BL. drill north show a zone of
alteration in the hole. On the I.P. section a snail increase
in phase on line 800E between 100N to 150N is probably caused
by an alteration zone.
On line 600E the zone seem to be a little Bore wider than
800B.
Zone 3 on line 1300E should be investigated to the north
to see if it get stronger in phase.
Sincerely yours.
Remy Belanger,
Geophysical contractor.

SUMMARY
The Lightning River Property consists of 41 contiguous, nonpatented
mining claims located in Lamplugh Township, Ontario
which forms part of the Abitibi Greenstone belt of volcanic
rocks.
The North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone extends
through the Lightning River Property in a northwest direction
dividing the property into Stoughton-Roguemaure Group of mafic
volcanic rocks to the north and Hunter Mine Group of felsic
volcanic rocks to the south.
After the discovery of the McDermott deposit in Holloway Township
in 1984, an exploration program in the summer of 1986 on the
Lightning River Property by Pronto Explorations Limited consisted
of ground magnetometer, VLP-BM surveys, gold and arsenic humus
geochemistry and geological mapping.
The 1987 diamond drilling program by Pronto drilled five sections
of six drill holes for 1598 metres on the property to investigate
for gold along the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault
Zone which occurs along the transition between magnesium-rich
tholiitic basalt, iron-rich tholiitic basalts to the north and
felsic volcanics to the south. On sections BE and 15E four zones
of carbonate-silicifled alteration occur along the main fault
zone. The best values on section 8E in Hole No. LR-87-1 are 73

ppb Au over 3.99 metres in a strongly pervasive carbonatized and
silicified alteration zone over a width of 22.13 metres. On
section 15B the best values are in hole LR-87-5 assaying 63 ppb
Au over 0.92 metres within a carbonatized and silicified
alteration zone over 11.71 metres.
Seal River Explorations Limited in late 1991 carried out 3.8 line
ferns of induced polarization survey on five test lines. The IP
survey on the Lightning River Property has outlined two
interesting anomalous zones along the North Branch of the Destor-
Porcupine Fault Zone that warrants investigation for pyrite-goldtype-deposits.
Anomaly Mo. l is a one line anomalous I.P. zone
on line 6E from O to IN with moderate phase, metal factor and low
resistivity but open along strike. This may be caused by pyrite
and alteration along a fault. Anomaly No. 2 is an I.P. anomaly
with high phase and high resistivity over a strike length of 800
metres and open. Line 10E is the exception with high metal
factor, phase and low resistivity. This zone may be highly
silicified with pyrite mineralization.
An exploration program to investigate the I.P. anomalies
consisting of prospecting, soil and rock geochemistry and diamond
drilling of two holes totalling 300 metres if warranted is
recommended at a cost of 9 30,000.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
An Induced Polarization Survey has been completed on the
Lightning River Property in Lamplugh Township, Ontario. The
exploration program was partially funded by the Ontario Mineral
Incentive Program (OMIP). The geophysical ground program was
designed to locate the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault
and to investigate the alteration zone with low but anomalous
gold values in diamond drill hole No. LR-87-1.
2.O PROPERTY
2.1 Claims
The Lightning River property consists of 41 contiguous, nonpatented
mining claims located in Lamplugh Township in the Larder
Lake Mining Division of Northeastern Ontario.
The claims appear on claim map M-358 and are shown on Figure 2
and are numbered as follows:
highway along a logging road for 5 km (3 mi) to the claims.
2.3 Topography
Topographic relief on the property is 50 feet and the elevation
is 950 feet above sea level. The Makua Creek flows northerly
through the property toward Lake Abitibi. Overburden averages 15
metres to bedrock.
The area has been cut over by AP&P and is undergoing second
growth.
There are a few small intermittent streams on the claim group.
Water for drilling purposes is probably available from the small
lakes and ponds on the property or from old drill holes eg.
LR-87-1,2,4,5 and 6.
The climate is typical
cold weather from mid November until May.
of northern Ontario with snow cover and

3.0 EXPLORATION HISTORY
3.1 Regional History
During the early 1980's the McDermott gold deposit was discovered
by American Berrick Resources Inc. in Holloway Township along the
McKenna Fault which is a splay fault off the Destor-Porcupine
Fault. The Holt-McDermott mine started production in 1988 and now
is at 1800 tons per day. The present reserves are 5.1 million
tons grading 0.15 oz. per ton gold (N.M. June 10,1991). A new
deposit, the Mattawasaga deposit was discovered about one half
mile east of the shaft during 1991 along the Ghostmont Fault. The
present reserves are two million tons grading 0.18 oz. per ton
gold (N.M. June 10,1991). These deposits consist of mineralized,
altered (silicified, carbonatized) basalts. The gold is
associated with pyrite (N.M. 6/10/91).
The Lightning Zone was discovered in Holloway and Harker
Townships by Noranda, Freewest and Newmont in 1988. The zone
occurs along the mafic-ultramafic volcanic contact just north of
the Destor-Porcupine Fault. The reserves are 5.5 million tons
grading 0.27 oz. gold per ton (N.M. October 7,1991).
The Lightning River area was mapped by L.S. Jensen for the
Ontario Geological Survey in 1973 on a scale of one inch to one
mile (Map P.2433).
3.2 Property History
The area was mapped by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS-Jensen-
Map P.2433-1982, Lightning River Area).
The area was flown by the Ontario Geological Survey using the
Questor Input System with flight lines spaced at approximately
175 m to produce an electromagnetic and a total intensity
magnetic survey (Map 80589, Matheson-Black River Area, Lamplugh
Township, 1984).
In 1987 the present claim group was covered with ground
magnetometer and VLP-EM surveys, geological mapping and limited
gold-humus geochemistry and lithogeochemistry. The 1987 diamond
drill program consisted of six drill holes for a total of 1598
metres. This work was carried out by Pronto Explorations Limited.
Seal River Explorations Limited in 1991 carried out 3.8 km of

induced polarization surveys. Five lines, 6E, 8E, 10E, 13E and
15E were profiled.
4.O GEOLOGY
4.1 REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The Harker-Holloway area is part of the Abitibi Volcanic Belt of
Northeastern Ontario adjacent to the Quebec border. The main
branch of the Oestor-Porcupine Fault strikes east-west through
the area. The rocks to the south of the fault are Kinojevis Group
of rocks and these rap around to the north of the fault. The core
area along the Destor-Porcupine Fault is Stoughton-Roguemaure
Group of rocks while Hunter Mine Group of rocks occur to the
north of the fault. In Holloway Township the McKenna and
Ghostmont faults are splay faults off the Destor-Porcupine Fault
to the south-west through Kinojevis Group of rocks. The North
Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault is a splay fault to the
northwest through Kinojevis and Stoughton-Roquemaure Groups to
the north of the fault and Hunter Mine Group to the south of the
fault.
4.2 Property Geology
The claims are underlain by basic volcanics, iron-rich and
magnesium-rich mafic volcanics, felsic volcanics and diabase
dikes and mafic intrusives. The North Branch of the Destor-
Porcupine Fault zone strikes through the southern part of the
property at 120 degrees and dips steeply north. The mafic

12
volcanics to the north of the fault are Stoughton-Roquemaure
Group rocks while the felsic volcanic rocks to the south of the
fault are Hunter Mine Group rocks (Jensen L.S.-1983-OGS Map
P.2433: Lightning River Area).
The strike of the rocks on the property Is 120 degrees and
dipping steeply north.

13
5.0 MINERALIZATION
5.1 Regional Mineralization
Gold deposits in the Harker-Holloway are associated with the
following geological environment:
1) The Lightning Zone gold deposit occurs along the Destor~
Porcupine Fault Zone at the contact between mafic and ultramafic
volcanics. The host for the zone is a strongly altered and
mineralized variolitic basalt. The zone is generally conformable
to the local stratigraphy, which strikes east-west and dips south
at 65-70 degrees. The zone rakes to the east and tops at 250m
below surface. Mineralization in the Lightning Zone is primarily
pyrite which varies in content from Z-15%, averaging S-8% in
areas with greater than 5 g/t Au. Concentrations of fine K2mm)
pyrite vary in proportion with gold grades. Coarse pyrite which
is barren is found along with trace amounts of chalcopyrite and
arsenopyrite. Alteration is a pale-green to honey colored quartzankerite-sericite
assemblage which occurs intermittently
throughout the mafic volcanics. The Lightning Zone itself is is a
medium to grey in color generally lacks foliation and consists of
a quartz-albite-pyrite assemblage. Original primary features such
as pillow magins, flow contacts, and variolites are commonly
preserved in the Lightning Zone and in the surrounding rocks. The
zone has a strike length of at least 780 metres and is open down
dip and to the east (John Vakeford and lan Atkinson, PDAC-1991).

14
2) The HcDermott gold deposit Is located along the McKenna
Fault. The Mattawasaga gold deposit is located along the
Ghostmont Fault. These are splay faults striking southwest off
the Destor-Porcupine Fault. These faults occur long the contact
between iron-rich and magnesium-rieh tholiitic basalts with
possible interflow sediments. The mineralization consists of
finely disseminated pyrite which is directly proportional to the
grade of gold. Gold is rarely visible occuring almost entirely
within finely disseminated pyrite. Alteration consists of very
strongly silicified and to a lesser extent carbonatized basalt.
The average thickness of the Mattawasaga deposit ranges from 30-
80 feet.
5.2 Property Mineralization
Alteration zones consisting of strongly silicified and
carbonatized zones over widths of 17-22m along the
North Branch
of the Destor-Porcupine Fault. This fault is located along the
contact between felsic volcanics to the south and mafic volcanics
to the north. Hole No. LR-87-1 on section 8 Bast encountered
anomalous gold values of 73 ppb Au over 3.99 m within a
silicified and carbonatized zone from 228.78m to 250.91m over a
width of 22.13 m on the footwall of the North Branch of the
Destor-Porcupine Fault. The best assay is 189 ppb Au over 0.91 m.

15
The alteration zone is within a highly fractured and brecciated
zone with less than l* pyrite. Hole No. LR-87-5 on section 15
Bast intersected alteration zones consisting of strongly
silicified and carbonatized basalt within strongly fractured and
brecciated zones along the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine
Fault. These zones of alteration occur over widths ranging up to
17m but the gold values are very low.

16
6.0 INDUCED POLARIZATION SURVEY
Remy Belanger (Geophysical Contractor) carried out an induced
polarization survey over five test lines, 6E, 8E, 10E, 13E and
15E, using a metric grid system. A total of 3.8 kms of 50 metre
spreads n s l to 11=4 was used with 1.0 hertz frequency measuring
the phase in millirads. The survey uses a dipole-dipole array
with a 50 m spread. A Phoenix/ Turbo V-4 receiver and a Phoenix
T-l transmitter was used to carry out the survey generating 1.0
kw. of power.
The data is presented in a separate report by Remy Belanger as
pseudo-sections of the calculated apparent resistivity, phase and
metal factor. Plan maps are presented as surface projections of
the interpretated I.P. anomaly zones, Frazer filter resistivity,
Frazer filter phase and Frazer filter metal factor.

17
7.0 DISCUSSION OP RESULTS
Interpretation of the induced polarization survey by Belanger has
resulted in four anomalous I.P. zones, two of which warrant
follow-up as follows:
1) I.P. anomaly No. l
Anomaly No. l on line 6 Bast at O to l North is a one line
anomaly with low resistivity (28 OM), high phase (3 MRAD) and
high metal factor (42.9).
This I.P. anomaly may be caused by an alteration zone (silicified
and carbonatized) along a fault zone similar to the zone in hole
No. LR-87-1 on section 8E but stronger pyrite mineralization.
2) I.P. anomaly No. 2
Anomaly No. 2 on lines 8E, 10E, 13E and 15E at 3N to 5+50N has
high phase (3.7 MRAD) and high resistivity (2249 OM). Line 10E is
the exception in that this line
has high phase (3.7) and high
metal factor (39.4) with low resistivity (70). Line
10E and 13E
has the highest phase while line 13E has the highest resistivity.
This I.P. anomaly may be caused by a silicified zone along a
fault with disseminated pyrite.

18
8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The induced polarization survey on the Lightning River property
has outlined some interesting anomalies along the North Branch of
the Destor-Porcupine Fault that warrants exploration for gold.
The I.P. anomalies that warrant follow-up are as follows:
1) Anomaly No. 1:
This is a one line anomalous I.P. zone on line 6B from O to IN
with moderate phase, metal factor and low resistivity but open
along strike. This may be caused by pyrite and alteration along a
fault.
2) Anomaly No. 2
This zone is an I.P. anomaly with high phase and high resistivity
over a strike length of 800 metres and open. Line 10E has high
metal factor, phase and low resistivity. This zone may be
strongly silicified with pyrite mineralization.
The model for this property is a gold-pyrite deposit associated
with silicified and carbonatized alteration along the North
Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault similar to the Harker-
HolIoway model.
Hole No.
LR-87-1 on section 8E encountered 73 ppb Au over 3.99 m
within a silicified and carbonatized zone over 22.13 m on the

19
footwall of the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone.
The best assay is 189 ppb Au over 0.91 m.
Anomaly No. l can be best tested by diamond drilling.
Anomaly No.2 has outcrop on the north flank that can be
investigated by prospecting and sampling. The anomaly itself can
be tested by gold in humus analysis followed by diamond drilling
if warranted.
An exploration program consisting of prospecting, soil and rock
geochemistry and diamond drilling of two holes totaling 300
metres is recommended at a cost of $ 30,000.
SUMMARY
The Lightning River Property consists of 41 contiguous, nonpatented
mining claims located in Lamplugh Township/ Ontario
which forms part of the Abitibi Greenstone belt of volcanic
rocks.
The North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone extends
through the Lightning River Property in a northwest direction
dividing the
property into Stoughton-Roquemaure Group of mafic
volcanic rocks to the north and Hunter Mine Group of felsic
volcanic rocks to the south.
After the discovery of the McDermott deposit in Holloway Township
in 1984, an exploration program in the summer of 1986 on the
Lightning River Property by Pronto Explorations Limited consisted
of ground magnetometer, VLF-BM surveys, gold and arsenic humus
geochemistry and geological mapping.
On sections 8E and 15E four zones
of carbonate-silicified alteration occur along the main fault
zone. The best values on section 8E in Hole No. LR-87-1 are 73

ppb Au over 3.99 metres In a strongly pervasive carbonatized and
silicified alteration zone over a width of 22.13 metres. On
section 15E the best values are in hole LR-87-5 assaying 63 ppb
Au over 0.92 metres within a carbonatized and silicified
alteration zone over 11.71 metres.
Seal River Explorations Limited in late 1991 carried out 3.8 line
kms of induced polarization survey on five test lines. The IP
survey on the Lightning River Property has outlined two
interesting anomalous zones along the North Branch of the Destor-
Porcupine Fault Zone that warrants investigation for pyrite-goIdtype
-deposits. Anomaly No. l is a one line anomalous I.P. zone
on line 6E from O to IN with moderate phase, metal factor and low
resistivity but open along strike. This may be caused by pyrite
and alteration along a fault. Anomaly No. 2 is an I.P. anomaly
with high phase and high resistivity over a strike length of 800
metres and open. Line IDE is the exception with high metal
factor, phase and low resistivity. This zone may be highly
silicified with pyrite mineralization.
An exploration program to investigate the I.P. anomalies
consisting of prospecting, soil and rock geochemistry and diamond
drilling of two holes totalling 300 metres if warranted is
recommended at a cost of S 30,000.

L-856372 to L-856398 inclusive
The claims total 1640 acres or
in the name of Seal River Explorations Limited.
663 hectares and are registered

7
2.2 Location and Access
The property Is located 3 km (2 mi) south of Lake Abitibi in
Lamplugh Township, 58 km (36 mi) northeast of Kirkland Lake in
Northeastern Ontario. Access to the property is via Highway 101,
east for 52 km (32 mi) from Matheson, Ontario and north from the
highway along a logging road for 5 km (3 mi) to the claims.
2.3 Topography
Topographic relief on the property is 50 feet and the elevation
is 950 feet above sea level. The Makua Creek flows northerly
through the property toward Lake Abitibi. Overburden averages 15
metres to bedrock.
The area has been cut over by AP&P and is undergoing second
growth.
There are a few small intermittent streams on
the claim group.
Water for
drilling purposes is probably available from the small
lakes and ponds on the property or from old drill holes eg.
LR-87-1,2,4,5 and 6.
The climate is typical
of northern Ontario with snow cover and
cold weather from mid November until May.

3.0 EXPLORATION HISTORY
3.1 Regional History
During the early 1980's the McOermott gold deposit was discovered
by American Berrick Resources Inc. in Holloway Township along the
McKenna Fault which is a splay fault off the Destor-Porcupine
Fault. The Holt-McDermott mine started production in 1988 and now
is at 1800 tons per day. The present reserves are 5.1 million
tons grading 0.15 oz. per ton gold (N.M. June 10,1991). A new
deposit, the Mattawasaga deposit was discovered about one half
mile east of the shaft during 1991 along the Ghostmont Fault. The
present reserves are two million tons grading 0.18 oz. per ton
gold (N.M. June 10,1991). These deposits consist of mineralized,
altered (silicified, carbonatized) basalts. The gold is
associated with pyrite (N.M. 6/10/91).
The Lightning Zone was discovered in Holloway and Harker
Townships by Noranda, Freewest and Newmont in 1988. The zone
occurs along the mafic-ultramafic volcanic contact just north of
the Destor-Porcupine Fault. The reserves are 5.5 million tons
grading 0.27 oz. gold per ton (N.M. October 7,1991).
The airborne magnetic map 1493 G by the
area.
G.S.C.-O.D.M. covers the
The airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey of the Matheson-

Black River Area was carried out by the Ontario Geological
Survey In 1984. Lamplugh Township Is covered on Map 80589.
9
In 1987 the present claim group was covered with ground
magnetometer and VLP-BM surveys, geological mapping and limited
gold-humus geochemistry and lithogeochemistry. The 1987 diamond
drill program consisted of six drill holes for a total of 1598
metres. This work was carried out by Pronto Explorations Limited.
Seal River Explorations Limited in 1991 carried out 3.8 km of

induced polarization surveys. Five lines, 6E, SE, 10E, 13E and
15E were profiled.
11
4.O GEOLOGY
4.1 REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The Harker-Holloway area is part of the Abitibi Volcanic Belt of
Northeastern Ontario adjacent to the Quebec border. The main
branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault strikes east-west through
The North
Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault is a splay fault to the
northwest through Kinojevis and Stoughton-Roguemaure Groups to
the north of the fault and Hunter Mine Group to the south of the
fault.
4.2 Property Geology
The claims are underlain by basic volcanics, iron-rich and
magnesium-rich mafic volcanics, felsic volcanics and diabase
dikes and mafic intrusives. The North Branch of the Destor-
Porcupine Fault zone strikes through the southern part of the
property at 120 degrees and dips steeply north. The mafic

12
volcanics to the north of the fault are Stoughton-Roquemaure
Group rocks while the felsic volcanic rocks to the south of the
fault are Hunter Hine Group rocks (Jensen L.S.-1983-OGS Map
P.2433: Lightning River Area).
The strike of the rocks on the property is 120 degrees and
dipping steeply north.

13
5.0 MINERALIZATION
5.1 Regional Mineralization
Gold deposits in the Harker-Holloway are associated with the
following geological environment:
1) The Lightning Zone gold deposit occurs along the Destor-
Porcupine Fault Zone at the contact between mafic and ultramafic
volcanics. The host for the zone is a strongly altered and
mineralized variolitic basalt. The zone is generally conformable
to the local stratigraphy/ which strikes east-west and dips south
at 65-70 degrees. The zone rakes to the east and tops at 250m
below surface. Mineralization in the Lightning Zone is primarily
pyrite which varies in content from 2-15% / averaging 5-8* in
areas with greater than 5 g/t Au. Concentrations of fine K2mm)
pyrite vary in proportion with gold grades. Coarse pyrite which
is barren is found along with trace amounts of chalcopyrite and
arsenopyrite. Alteration is a pale-green to honey colored quartzanker
ite-sericite assemblage which occurs intermittently
throughout the mafic volcanics. The Lightning Zone itself is is a
medium to grey in color generally lacks foliation and consists of
a guartz-albite-pyrite assemblage. Original primary features such
as pillow magins, flow contacts, and variolites are commonly
preserved in the Lightning Zone and in the surrounding rocks. The
zone has a strike length of at least 780 metres and is open down
dip and to the east (John Wakeford and lan Atkinson, PDAC-1991).

14
2) The MeDermott gold deposit Is located along the McKenna
Fault. The Mattawasaga gold deposit is located along the
Ghostmont Fault. These are splay faults striking southwest off
the Destor-Porcupine Fault. These faults occur long the contact
between iron-rich and magnesium-rich tholiitic basalts with
possible interflow sediments. The mineralization consists of
finely disseminated pyrite which is directly proportional to the
grade of gold. Gold is rarely visible occuring almost entirely
within finely disseminated pyrite. Alteration consists of very
strongly silicified and to a lesser extent carbonatized basalt.
The average thickness of the Mattawasaga deposit ranges from 30-
80 feet.
5.2 Property Mineralization
Alteration zones consisting of strongly silicified and
carbonatized zones over widths of 17-22m along the North Branch
of the Destor-Porcupine Fault. This fault is located along the
contact between felsic volcanics to the south and mafic volcanics
to the north. Hole No. LR-87-1 on section 8 East encountered
anomalous gold values of 73 ppb Au over 3.99 m within a
silicified and carbonatized zone from 228.78m to 250.91m over a
width of 22.13 m on the footwall of the North Branch of the
Destor-Porcupine Fault. The best assay is 189 ppb Au over 0.91 m.

15
The alteration zone Is within a highly fractured and brecciated
zone with less than l* pyrite. Hole No. LR-87-5 on section 15
East intersected alteration zones consisting of strongly
silicified and carbonatized basalt within strongly fractured and
brecciated zones along the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine
Fault. These zones of alteration occur over widths ranging up to
17m but the gold values are very low.

16
6.0 INDUCED POLARIZATION SURVEY
Reroy Belanger (Geophysical Contractor) carried out an induced
polarization survey over five test lines, 6E, 8E, 10E, 13E and
15E, using a metric grid system. A total of 3.8 kms of 50 metre
spreads 11=1 to nM was used with 1.0 hertz frequency measuring
the phase in millirads. The survey uses a dipole-dipole array
with a
50 m spread. A Phoenix, Turbo V-4 receiver and a Phoenix
T-l transmitter was used to carry out the survey generating 1.0
kw. of power.
The data is presented in a separate report by Remy Belanger as
pseudo-sections of the calculated apparent resistivity, phase and
metal factor.
Plan maps are presented as surface projections of
the interpretated I.P. anomaly zones, Frazer
Frazer filter phase and Frazer filter metal factor.
filter resistivity.

17
7.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Interpretation of the induced polarization survey by Belanger has
resulted in four anomalous I.P. zones, two of which warrant
follow-up as follows:
1) I.P. anomaly No. l
Anomaly No. l on line 6 East at O to l North is a one line
anomaly with low resistivity (28 OM), high phase (3 MRAD) and
high metal factor (42.9).
This I.P. anomaly may be caused by an alteration zone (silicified
and carbonatized) along a fault zone similar to the zone in hole
No. LR-87-1 on section 8E but stronger pyrite mineralization.
2) I.P. anomaly No. 2
Anomaly No. 2 on lines 8E, 10E, 13E and 15E at 3N to 5+50N has
high phase (3.7 MRAD) and high resistivity (2249 OM). Line 10E is
the exception in that this line has high phase (3.7) and high
metal factor (39.4) with low resistivity (70). Line 10E and 13E
has the highest phase while line 13E has the highest resistivity.
This I.P. anomaly may be caused by a silicified zone along a
fault with disseminated pyrite.

This is a one line anomalous I.P. zone on line 6E from O to IN
with moderate phase, metal factor and low resistivity but open
along strike.
