ACC ALL-TIME CHARTS<br />

<strong>Duke</strong>’s Matt Danowski and Zack Greer have steadily<br />

climbed the ACC’s all-time charts during their respective<br />

careers ... Danowski begins the 2008 season<br />

ranking sixth in assists, tied for 13th in goals and<br />

second in total points ... He is 24 points shy of the<br />

league’s all-time scoring leader — Stan Cockerton<br />

of N.C. State who amassed 280 points from 1977-80<br />

... Greer is ninth on the league’s goals chart and is 52<br />

behind Cockerton, who owns the conference standard<br />

with 193.<br />

With 40 victories apiece, <strong>Duke</strong> and Virginia have<br />

compiled more wins than any other program in the<br />

<strong>Duke</strong> returns its top five point producers from a year<br />

ago including the top two scorers in the nation ...<br />

Attackmen Matt Danowski (96 points) and Zack<br />

Greer (94) ranked first and second, respectively, in<br />

the country in total points in 2007 ... The Blue Devils<br />

return five players — Danowski (44), Greer (67),<br />

Ned Crotty (25), Max Quinzani (24) and Brad Ross<br />

(22) — that scored at least 20 goals a year ago ...<br />

Last season’s <strong>Duke</strong> club led the ACC and ranked<br />

third in the nation in scoring offense by averaging<br />

12.65 goals per game.<br />

EXPERIENCED DEFENSIVE UNIT<br />

The Blue Devil defensive unit brings back a wealth of<br />

experience with the return of starting goalkeeper Dan<br />

Loftus and All-America selections Tony McDevitt<br />

and Nick O’Hara ... In addition, starting defenseman<br />

Ryan McFadyen also returns, as does preseason<br />

All-America defensive midfielder Michael Ward ...<br />

Last year, <strong>Duke</strong> paced the ACC and ranked eighth<br />

nationally in scoring defense by allowing 7.65 goals<br />

per game.<br />

DUKE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT<br />

In 2008, <strong>Duke</strong> will look to make its 12th appearance<br />

in the NCAA Tournament ... The Blue Devils hold an<br />

all-time record of 12-11 in postseason play ... The<br />

Blue Devils have reached the national semifinals<br />

three times in 1997, 2005 and 2007, and advanced to<br />

the title game in both 2005 and 2007 ... Last year,<br />

<strong>Duke</strong> earned the top seed in the tournament for the<br />

first time in program history, and also earned top-eight<br />

seeds in 1994 (8), 1995 (5), 1997 (5), 1998 (7), 1999<br />

(4), 2000 (7), 2002 (7) and 2005 (2).<br />

DUKE AT HOME<br />

In 2007, the Blue Devils posted an 11-1 record at<br />

home and are 26-3 (.890) in Durham over the past<br />

three seasons ... Over the past 10 years, <strong>Duke</strong> has<br />

won 84 percent of its home games by compiling a 68-<br />

13 ledger ... Included in that stretch are two undefeated<br />

home seasons in 2000 (8-0) and 2005 (10-0).<br />

FACING-OFF<br />

<strong>Duke</strong> is scheduled to face-off by committee again in<br />

2008 ... The Blue Devils return four players — Mike<br />

Catalino (58), Terrence Molinari (82), Sam Payton<br />

(79) and Brad Ross (57) — who took at least 50<br />

draws during the 2007 campaign ... Molinari led <strong>Duke</strong><br />

with his .537 winning percentage, winning 44-of-82<br />

attempts ... In addition, Rob Wellington joins the<br />

mix after missing the entire 2007 season while recovering<br />

from knee surgery.<br />

AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS<br />

Over the past three seasons, <strong>Duke</strong> has amassed a<br />

22-8 (.733) record versus ranked opponents ... In<br />

2007, the Blue Devils won a nations-best nine games<br />

against teams ranked in the top 10.<br />

ACC TOURNAMENT<br />

The 2008 ACC Tournament will be held April 25 and<br />

27 in Charlottesville, Va. ... <strong>Duke</strong> captured the 2007<br />

ACC crown in Durham with victories over North<br />

Carolina and Virginia ... The ACC Tournament has<br />

been held in Charlottesville five previous years (1994,<br />

1996, 1997, 1998 & 2003) and <strong>Duke</strong> owns a combined<br />

record of 2-5 in those tournaments, reaching the<br />

finals twice in 1997 and 2003 before losing to the host<br />

Cavaliers on both occasions.<br />

• <strong>Duke</strong> owns an all-time record of 13-14 in ACC<br />

Tournament action<br />

• <strong>Duke</strong> is 9-9 all-time in ACC Tournament semifinal<br />

games and 4-5 in championship tilts<br />

• Against the field, <strong>Duke</strong> is 5-4 vs. Maryland, 5-4 vs.<br />

North Carolina and 3-6 vs. Virginia<br />

• <strong>Duke</strong> has won four ACC Tournament championships<br />

in 1995, 2001, 2002 and 2007<br />

• <strong>Duke</strong> has had four ACC Tournament MVPs in<br />

Ross Moscatti (1995), Scott Bross (2001), A.J.<br />

Kincel (2002) and Matt Danowski (2007)<br />
