CODE OF CONDUCT<br />
FOR PLAYERS, SPECTATORS, TEACHERS AND COACHES<br />
PLAYERS<br />
A high st<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>of</strong> conduct is expected at all times, both on <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong>f the field.<br />
Each <strong>and</strong> every player should be an exemplary sportsperson, displaying an appreciation <strong>of</strong> good play <strong>and</strong> an<br />
acceptance <strong>of</strong> the mistakes made by fellow players.<br />
The game should be played hard but never unfairly.<br />
Ill-temper or spite should never be shown; assistance <strong>for</strong> opponents when it appears desirable should be given.<br />
Congratulations, thanks or cheers appropriate to the game, by the captain <strong>and</strong>/or players is to be encouraged.<br />
The orders or instructions <strong>of</strong> the umpire, referee or designated <strong>of</strong>ficial should be obeyed quickly, <strong>and</strong> any decisions,<br />
however unfavourable, should be accepted without question.<br />
The following are not permitted:<br />
Time-wasting <strong>and</strong> time-wasting actions:<br />
Unsportsmanlike behaviour;<br />
Over-vigorous play;<br />
Deliberate coaching in illegal tactics;<br />
Sledging;<br />
Dissension;<br />
Foul language;<br />
Foul play.<br />
COACHES AND TEACHERS<br />
THE RULES FOR EACH SPORT SHALL BE THOSE OF THE GOVERNING BODY FOR THAT SPORT WITHIN THE<br />
STATE OF QUEENSLAND, EXCEPT AS STATED IN THE ASSOCIATION RULES OR BY-LAWS. THERE WILL BE<br />
NO ’HOUSE’ RULES.<br />
Coaches/Teachers/Administrators are expected to: abide by the “spirit” as well as the “letter <strong>of</strong> the law”.<br />
Coaches <strong>and</strong> Teachers should encourage teams <strong>and</strong>/or individual players to be punctual in coming on to the<br />
field or reporting to the designated <strong>of</strong>ficials, both be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>and</strong> during matches.<br />
Coaches/Teachers/Administrators must accept the decisions <strong>of</strong> referees <strong>and</strong> umpires. This does not preclude<br />
rational clarification <strong>of</strong> decisions at a subsequent time.<br />
The safety <strong>of</strong> students should be paramount.<br />
SPECTATORS<br />
Good play by either side should be acknowledged by spectators in the appropriate manner.<br />
Unwise or fanatical barracking can make a player per<strong>for</strong>m foolish actions in their play, or incite them to foul<br />
play, which is not to be condoned.<br />
Cheering <strong>and</strong> supporting one’s own team is recognized as part <strong>of</strong> the conduct <strong>of</strong> the game, <strong>and</strong> provided this<br />
barracking is within the requirements <strong>of</strong> the By-Laws, it is to be encouraged.<br />
The Principal, <strong>and</strong>/or their representative, has the legal right to remove any person or persons who do not<br />
con<strong>for</strong>m to the acceptable st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong> behaviour as laid down by their school.<br />
Consumption <strong>of</strong> alcohol by spectators during the conduct <strong>of</strong> a match or contest is not permitted.<br />
Referees or umpires are not to be approached by spectators at any time be<strong>for</strong>e, during or after a match.<br />

<strong>TAS</strong> AIM<br />
The Aim <strong>of</strong> The Associated Schools Inc is to “promote <strong>and</strong> conduct various <strong>for</strong>ms <strong>of</strong> inter-school activity, with a<br />
view to fostering a spirit <strong>of</strong> fellowship.”<br />
REASONS FOR PLAYING SPORT<br />
Studies have shown that students play sports <strong>for</strong> many reasons including:<br />
To learn physical skills;<br />
To increase fitness levels;<br />
To achieve a sense <strong>of</strong> belonging;<br />
To acquire sports skills <strong>for</strong> leisure;<br />
To have fun.<br />
Whilst it is acknowledged that “competition” is an important agent in the growth <strong>and</strong> development <strong>of</strong> students, the<br />
Association seeks to promote a positive attitude towards playing sport as part <strong>of</strong> a healthy lifestyle<br />
It is there<strong>for</strong>e our responsibility to encourage participation in sport <strong>for</strong> as many <strong>of</strong> our students as possible.<br />
CONDUCT<br />
It is acknowledged <strong>and</strong> accepted that each <strong>TAS</strong> school has its own st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong> conduct <strong>and</strong> that it is within the<br />
jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> Principals to ensure that those st<strong>and</strong>ards are maintained. Nevertheless, these commonly accepted norms<br />
<strong>of</strong> behaviour designated herein will be observed on a uni<strong>for</strong>m basis throughout the Association.<br />
Issues or concerns are to be raised with the Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>and</strong> HPE.<br />
<strong>Faith</strong> <strong>Lutheran</strong> <strong>College</strong>, Redl<strong>and</strong>s – <strong>TAS</strong> <strong>Sport</strong>s Competition<br />
<strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> Policy – <strong>Sport</strong>ing Fixtures<br />
Parents <strong>of</strong> students at <strong>Faith</strong> <strong>Lutheran</strong> <strong>College</strong> are advised/reminded that their sons <strong>and</strong> daughters, without exception,<br />
must follow the dress code following. Students are required to wear full <strong>College</strong> uni<strong>for</strong>m or appropriate sports uni<strong>for</strong>ms.<br />
Players<br />
Students who are representing their <strong>College</strong> in competitive activities must wear approved clothing to <strong>and</strong> from their<br />
activity <strong>and</strong> during their activity. Players are either to wear full <strong>College</strong> Dress <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> or appropriate <strong>Sport</strong>s <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> as<br />
advised. These requirements will be rein<strong>for</strong>ced by the respective <strong>Sport</strong>s Coordinators at <strong>Faith</strong> <strong>Lutheran</strong> <strong>College</strong>,<br />
Redl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
Spectators<br />
Junior School students are to wear <strong>College</strong> <strong>Sport</strong>s <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> to sporting fixtures as spectators. Middle <strong>and</strong> Senior School<br />
students are to wear full <strong>College</strong> Dress <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> or full <strong>Sport</strong>s <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> as advised by the Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> & HPE <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Sport</strong>s Coordinators.<br />
Practice <strong>and</strong> Training Sessions<br />
<strong>Faith</strong> students will wear the <strong>College</strong> <strong>Sport</strong>s <strong>Uni<strong>for</strong>m</strong> <strong>for</strong> all practice <strong>and</strong> training sessions unless otherwise advised; eg:<br />
Rugby tops are permitted to be worn <strong>for</strong> Rugby training due to tackling drills which are liable to cause damage to <strong>College</strong><br />
sports uni<strong>for</strong>m.<br />
Updated in<strong>for</strong>mation – <strong>Sport</strong>sline<br />
Parents are advised that, in the event <strong>of</strong> wet weather on a Friday evening or Saturday morning, the <strong>College</strong>’s Wet<br />
Weather line provides updates on the schedule <strong>of</strong> matches programmed <strong>for</strong> the weekend.<br />
